I've been researching WLS for over 2 years now, and feel I'm in the right place mentally now to commit to the work required to maintain a healthy lifestyle post surgery. I'm 53, married to a really wonderful and supportive partner, and my kids are all adults. I decided to go forward with surgery because I'm really tired of worrying about whether I can participate in activities when we travel, like hikes, zip lining, and other adventure type of tours, which we both enjoy very much. We also used to ski all the time and haven't gone in years. I miss it. My gastric sleeve surgery is scheduled for August 2. I'm a self pay, which gets rid of a lot of red tape but raises other issues. I have 85 pounds to lose to reach a BMI that says average, but I know when Imreach that weight I'm going to feel way better than just average, I'm going to feel fantastic!! And I will be free of this ball and chain of fat.
