I am only 8 days out as well.
I don't remember my doctor telling me how many calories to keep it at.
I am afraid I am taking in too many.

I have to agree with you, I didn't post until just recently bc if felt like people were very judgements when others are just being honest and/or looking for advice/support. I believe that everyone will have a different journey and a different experience, we can make great supports for each other but no one should be making anyone feel small or degraded.

Feel proud of yourself for making a difference in your own life and 17lbs it's a great accomplishment!! The puréed food stage was very hard for me as well...I lived off Soup, refried Beans, and Protein drinks!!

If anyone knows of another app, I too would switch! I asked a question recently about having a few sips of wine at my wedding in a month (I'd be 4 months post op) and you would have thought I asked about politics! I got a few people making polite suggestions but others just ripped into me about how stupid I am for even asking this!!

I came here for support and answers to questions I am curious about but aren't worthy of a call to the doctor and would like to help others the same way!! Feel free to message me if you'd like...I'm not a genius but I'd like to think my experience can help others

Melissa315 got a reaction from tjetson247 in waiting for my approval from BCBS
I have AZ BCBS and I went to my last MSW visit on 2/14, called the surgeon on 2/17 to make sure she had my paperwork and we could get the insurance approval process moving. We scheduled me for 3/15 and received my insurance approval the same day as my pre op appointment on 3/6. I feel as though I got lucky with my approval process, I hope others have the same luck!!!

Ugh, I feel your pain! The worst "dumping" I ever experienced was when I went to a usual restaurant with my fiancé. They have been amazing with accommodating me after my surgery and will make me a plain chicken breast and veggie plate for just a few dollars! Well they got a new cook who was unaware of my restrictions and cooked my chicken breast on the flat top where they warm the buttered Buns for burgers/sandwiches. After 3 bites of chicken it was INSTANT drooling, chest pains, and stomach cramps! I left the restaurant right away and in the 10 min drive home I pulled over 6 times to vomit on the side of the road! It wasn't the chicken that caused it, it was the butter that was on the flat top! My body can't handle even the smallest amount of butter!!

I have been wondering about alcohol as well! I am getting married in 4.5 weeks and want to have some wine with the toasts or even a few sips of my favorite apple crown with the wedding party on the way to the reception! At that point I will be a little over 4 months post op. I have my 3 month post op appointment today but I know if I mention it to my surgeon he will tell me no as he is against drinking after bypass! I just want to Celebrate a little nothing crazy!!

Since everyone's body is different my surgeon suggested giving some red wine a try first at home. I had a 4 oz glass over a period of an hour last night with no reaction and I didn't feel drunk. He says wine is the better option!

Thank you for this information as I do have everything in my medical Id area on my iPhone and also have an Apple Watch. I was unaware of this option! Maybe I can avoid spending the extra money [emoji846]

Thankfully I fly in 11 days before the wedding so any weightloss talk should be out of the way with the immediate family before hand. Just stressing the judge mental people that think negative of people and judge them for doing what makes them happy just because they disagree!!

I'm glad you posted this question. I am 3 months post op and getting married in 23 days and haven't seen or told 90% of the family that will be at the wedding. I know I am going to get 1,000 questions because as of this morning I am -100lbs since I saw them all a year ago! I don't want the judgement from the family, especially my fiancés grandma!!

Idk what to say to them!!!!! It's honestly stressing me out and I fly out to the wedding location in 12 days!!!

I am 3 months post op as of yesterday and I'm starting to think I don't eat enough calories a day....I've tried to increase it but I get full so fast and if I start having "snacks" throughout the day I definitely won't meet my Water needs. Living in AZ I'm very concerned about making sure I get enough water. My rate of loosing has been great but I am slowing down. Yesterday I only had about 450 calories. Any advice? I do see my surgeon for my 3 month in Monday as well (although my lab results I got yesterday were not terrible!)

Wow, we are very close to each other! 7/5 will be a HUGE day for you and is going to be the hardest but best day! The band was just a stepping stone in your past, leave it behind and look to the future!
I appreciate your encouragement and look forward to being able to encourage you as well. This morning was a scale victory for me of seeing 199.2 first the first time! I can't remember EVER being below 200!! You will get to this amazing achievement before you know it as well!!

Hi Bonnie! Although we are using different doctors it is so nice to see another AZ patient! Do you have a surgery date? Bypass or sleeve? I am just a little over 3 months post op. I'm in the Glendale area, would love to connect with someone from around the same area!!

Every 3 hours sounds easier then it is turning out to be ☹️ Everyone suggests the good fats, I use Olive Oil when cooking but don't eat nuts nor nut butters. I am not a fan of anything but Peanut Butter and I haven't allowed myself to have it yet. (I have a tendency of over eating it). I get enough Protein bc that is mostly all I eat.

Well yesterday was an adventure for me. I was at the local Water park celebrating a birthday for a friends daughter. We ate before we went and I made sure to drink lots and lots of water all morning and even took my 40oz keep cold bottle with me! I thought I was prepared for a day in the sun and AZ heat....man was I wrong!! Was waiting to go on my second slide, 75% of the way up the stairwell and started to get dizzy. Next thing I know I'm sitting on the stairwell surrounded by lifeguards, EMTs and have a soaking wet shirt on my shoulders. They took me back to the EMT office to check my vitals and my sugar and blood pressure were normal but my heart rate was jumping back and forth between 80 and 120 constantly. They determined that I was severely dehydrated. I drank 4 12oz glasses of water in 30 minutes and called my fiancé to come pick me up! We got me some food and more water but I didn't feel normal until waking up this morning and having some breakfast!!
I wanted to share my story as a lesson learned and point of advice for others...no matter how much you try to prepare our bodies can dehydrate so much faster now!!!

I am 3 months post op and still struggle with the Water sometimes. I bought a 40oz bottle made by Takeya from costco (2 for $30) and it keeps your cold drink COLD for 24 hours! It has made it a whole lot easier for me to drink my liquids. I also randomly add the sugar free water enhancers. For me it was super easy to drink 64oz before I added in solid food, the whole not drinking 30 mins before/after made it hard for me!

I eat a salad almost daily for lunch! LOVE the skinny girl fat/sugar free dressing! I switch back and forth between balsamic and raspberry vinaigrette! I also make sure to use a 50/50 spring mix/spinach salad mix. The spinach is a good source of iron!!

I gave up caffeine 3 weeks pre op to help with not having it post op. It was hard at first but now I don't miss it. I tried to make a coffee Protein smoothie and hated it!!

My doctor said after 3 months I could have black coffee again but I'm just going to stay away for good!!

I have been EXTREMELY lucky! I've dealt with "foamies" a few times and dumping one time which was brought on by chicken cooked in butter! My goal is to try a few sips of my favorite organic super fruit wine and then another night try a few sips of some crown royal (my go to before surgery) and then make a judgement call on how it makes me feel before the wedding. Wouldn't want to experience dumping on my big day!!
