mem1 reacted to woodside in JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?
So I'm down 58 pounds and have been hovering around 180-182 for about the past month. Time to step up the exercise? It has been super cold here (I live in the northern part of Illinois) and hard to get out and move around much. Tossing around the idea of a treadmill for the home. I am down to a comfortable size 12-14 and have been able to wear size Medium in other things. I sleep better, have a TON more energy, feel more beautiful, strong and healthy than ever. Still haven't eaten any Pasta or bread or rice yet. I did eat some sweets at my son's wedding, but I had planned that and I haven't done it since. I am so glad I had this surgery. I do feel like it was the best decision I have made in a LONG time. Thank you...all of you July sleevers...for your support. I appreciate you all more than you know!

I am 62 and had a lower BMI of 35 w/ sleep apnea, arthritis, Gerd, post menopausal & asthma. I had my surgery on 7/10. Today is my 1 month anniversary!! I have lost 27 lbs so far. I am not suffering from my arthritis pain, my sleep apnea has improved, I haven't used my asthma meds since the surgery. I am gaining energy and have started walking again slowly but with No pain! My joints aren't killing me now. My inflammation in my body has gone down. This was not for cosmetic reasons this was because I wanted to live longer, be active and have a better quality of life! Do not let anyone judge you for your reasons to have this surgery just do it! My life has improved in the last month alone. I feel good!!!

I had your normal week-2 week long stalls during active weight loss phase - maybe 2 or 3 of them? Those are pretty much standard and expected - your body is trying to catch up with all the massive pounds lost. No super long lasting plateaus, though. I know stalls are discouraging, but I promise - they're just part of the package! Stick to your plan and it will come off
I was a long distance runner before I started lifting weights, and was consistently at 150 lbs. Once I began lifting, I started fluctuating between 150-153 lbs. But that occasional 3 lb fluctuation doesn't bother me! My best suggestion to you would be to get active and get away from your scale. It will destroy your mind, if you let it!

LOL I was the same way right after surgery , my husband and I have always had a great sex life but now its even better he is enjoying the benefits and so am I , with the weight lost I was encourage to try new things and everything has been great. I do not know if age has anything to do with it because I am 44 but I think with the weight lost gone your self esteem goes up, I know mine has.

I think the only thing people will notice are your amazing boobs LOL. Mine totally went South after WLS. You look stunning, I would recommend finding a good seamstress and have something custom made out of compression material. Good luck on your new life.

I have never paid less than $60 on my bras. Because I have a huge back and wide shoulders, I have myself measured and just get the discounts at the boutiques when they have a sale. The best place I have seen to have great bras with support are Victoria Secrets. They normally have deals like 2 for $25 or something like that.
I am used to Ashley Stewarts bras and the boutique stores in Lower Manhattan.
Once I am able to fit into her, Vicki Secs will be my go shop. lol

Soma makes the best bras. They are $60 though. I don'the think I have ever paid less than $50 for a bra unless there was a sale.
If you are really looking for a bra that can work some magic you are going to need to increase your price range.

Go to Soma, try a bra on, change your life.

I always have had very thick hair. It's almost like I have two head of hair: the top and sides are straight and the back and underneath are curlier. I wore my hair long for years. Not long after surgery I had it all cut off and donated it. I have been wearing it short since then and because it isn't as heavy and weighted down, it tends to be curlier.
I didn't notice any significant Hair loss due to surgery.

My doctor said weight loss could be slower when you have hypothyroidism and are post menopausal. You will lose weight but not as fast. Just be patient with yourself

I am 61 years old. I had the sleeve surgery almost one year ago. I have lost 100 pounds and doing extremely well and lots of energy. I had a few problems after surgery bee stings etc. allergic to an arthritis med but mostly smooth sailing! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Hubby and I go dancing and having a great time. Weight has kind of leveled off right now which I am ok with. I would like to lose another 15 pounds in the future but not worrying about it! Loving life more than ever!!! Good luck to all!

Interesting I was also told my stomach very large. Portion Control was extremely hard. The other thing is I watched my mother and aunt go from trim active women to obsese women with arthritis, joint replacements swollen legs , ankles and feet once they hit their 60's. I realized I was heading in the same direction and I have the same body type, my husband also noticed it. My family all have thyroid issues. It was the final reason I looked into this surgery as my family trait was moving down to me and also my brother.
I am totally confident that I made the right choice for myself.
