  1. I know this is a strong opinion, but I'm greatly tired of brand new lapband patients trying to educate me on my lapband that I've struggled with for 7+ years. I don't need ANOTHER adjustment. I don't OVEREAT. I don't BREAK the rules. I don't eat foods that I'm not supposed to eat. Believe me, I wouldn't just give up on a tool that I paid $13.3k for CASH when I barely had the ability to get a loan to do so. So please, be considerate and understand that I too thought the lapband was the best thing on the planet in the beginning. It took several years to get me to the decision to remove it. Ok rant over. Why is everyone converting from band to sleeve?

If I could eat healthy I'm 100% sure is be successful. Therein lies the problem with the band ha ha. Looking forward to the sleeve Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Why is everyone converting from band to sleeve?

I'm only successful in weight loss when I live on no food, or protein shakes. The only real foods I'm able to eat are garbage so over the last 7 years I've lost 60, gained 40, lost 40, gained 50, lost 70, gained 50, now I'm down 20 again and trying to hold it off and stick to low low calorie until my revision Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Why is everyone converting from band to sleeve?

I can't say that I agree with this. My surgeons rules were to eat lean protein, veggies, minimal whole grain carbs. I can't eat even 2 bites of chicken, fish, beef, wild game ect (unless they're fried). I've had easily 30+adjustments over the last 7 years. I have had it emptied, and too full and everything in between. For some of us it has absolutely nothing to do with following rules Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Is the sleeve right for me?

You are literally telling my story, only difference is I've had my band 7 years. I try so hard to eat healthy but I break and just want to rid the hunger. I've started keto, it's helping some. High fat which means it's generally slider. But I can't eat the meats. Doreen 20 lbs in 2 months, but I can't wait to get this damn thing out. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. In a heart beat. This band has completely ruined my life. My kids have grown up knowing mom can't eat with us, and in the event she does she generally leaves the table to vomit. I can't eat two bites without being stuck. So I either eat crappy slider foods, or don't eat at all. I've stopped cooking dinner, simply out of discouragement. I try so hard to keep my mind healthy but after 7 years of battling I'm human at the end of the day and lose some of the battles. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Band to sleeve one surgery or two?

I have NEVER been able to eat any of that. I think if you are revising, looking to eat whatever you want then you are looking for trouble. I'm going into the sleeve with the same mindset of a lifestyle change forever. The only difference is that I will actually be able to eat healthy instead of whatever will go down.

Band to sleeve one surgery or two?

I'm kinda in the same boat.. I have been banded since 2010. I am revising to the sleeve in Mexico. He will do it in one surgery as long as my endoscopy shows no erosion. I have it next Tuesday. I am petrified that I will have to find a way to have my insurance cover the removal (since at that point it'll be deemed medically necessary) and then have to wait three months to get sleeved. I have been miserable for 7 years, I suppose a bit more time won't kill me. But I'm praying for it!!!

Why is everyone converting from band to sleeve?

I was banded in February of 2010. The first year I did really good. I was unable to eat most foods, but I was so determined to lose the weight that I just dealt with it. I lost almost 60 lbs and then slowly it just stopped coming off, and then the pounds came creeping back on. I have tried fills and unfills and no matter which way I go I either can't eat at all, can't get full, throw up nearly ever single day, sometimes even just water. Unless it's a slider food, I can't eat it. After spending the last 7 years of my life living with a failed LapBand I am getting a revision to a gastric sleeve.
  18. I'm pulling for you!! My date is tentative to (after endoscopy it'll be for sure) keep in touch![emoji16] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Who are you telling (pre-op)?

I'm in the same boat.. I think people hear "Mexico" and freak out, but if you've done your research as a patient then you'll be in good hands. I'm wanting to tell a few.. mostly my co-workers because they all know me as the girl who pukes every time she eat.. (thanks lapband) plus, I'll be out of work for 10 days. But I won't tell my family, they aren't supportive at all

    Band to Sleeve Success?

I am also doing a revision to a sleeve. I am encouraged by these positive outcomes
  25. I  am currently pursuing a revision from Lapband to Sleeve. My surgery date is scheduled for July 14th with Dr. Gerardo Garcia Alvarez at Bariatric Mexico in Cabo. I am having an endoscopy done on Tuesday May 16th, and as long as everything checks out with my band internally they will do it in one surgery. I am scared that the scope will show erosion, and I’ll have to just have it removed, instead of the revision, because I can’t afford two trips to Mexico 

I have ZERO symptoms of lapband problems as far as pain/reflux issues. I just can’t eat anything without it coming back up. I am very much looking forward to getting off the yo you dieting, and joining the losers bench!

Would really love to hear other stories of revisions..
