The grandmother of one of my good friends said "Don't borrow trouble". Stay off that website, it is totally dedicated to complications but all those people had surgery years ago before techniques improved. Also if you look for complications then that is all you are going to see. It is like buying a new Camry, you probably didn't notice all the Camrys on the road but now that you have one, you see them everywhere.
Stressing yourself out will cause your body to react making you sick. You have to chill out.
Didn't you have a sleeve not RNY? RNY has all kinds of complications the sleeve just does not have.
When is your next Dr Appointment?
You should get back in school to keep your mind occupied. Do you have a therapist?

@CharlyScott my bd is 5/16/55! And I am in Illinois. I will be sleeved sometime this year, hopefully Sep/Oct. I have 4 grown kids, 9 grands, I am semi raising two of them age 7 & 10.
And I quilt.

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the forum. You are asking all of the right questions (not everyone does) and thinking about the small details and how it will impact your life. This is definitely something to go into with your eyes wide open. The better educated you are, the more successful you will be.
I'm about 8 months out and I wholeheartedly recommend it. I wish I had done it years ago. I wasted so many years being overweight and waiting to do things until i was thinner. The surgery stopped my body from fighting me and allowed me to focus on changing my mental issues around food. It is much easier to adopt new mindsets when your stomach isn't screaming to be fed.
There are foods I have given up permanently, but i don't miss them. I also don't miss overfilling myself. I am able to eat out in restaurants and no one has noticed i eat so much less than them. I eat slowly and put the fork down between bites, so I wind up finishing at the same time as everyone else.
All in all, it has been a great experience.

I wondered if I was too old to have this done. I'm 66. But I went ahead with the surgery on 8/28/12. Lost 41 lbs. feeling great. My only challenge is getting in enough Protein and liquids because I get full so fast. I've always been a speed eater, so it's hard for me to slow down, too.

Aww thank you. I had that what did I do moment when I started being reintroduced to more solid food because I couldn't keep it down but that eventually passed. You will do great , work that sleeve and make it do what it do. I was determined to kick butt with this and so far I am pleased with my progress. God is good.

I'm still in some pain just got out of the gas zone which is devastating pain. I had no vomiting thought Alhamdulillah. I came home yesterday and been just taking in these Protein Shakes trying to do three a day. Drinking a 2 oz cup every 15 min and in between time drinking Water need to get in all the liquids as possible. last night I was sitting in bed and opened up a 8oz bottle of water and took a sip my mind said to put the top on it but I must of feel a sleep next thing you know splash water al over me I jump up so fast woke me right up. Pray I did no harm to my body but lesson learned not to do that again 🤣. But all is good over here still healing and relaxing for now peace
