    I'm 60 +

Hi out there all you over sixtyers. Today I just started on phase 3 of my program. I had my by-pass done on 6/20/17. Doing well except for a few hick-ups. But today I'm having a scrambled egg and it is heaven, I'm walkin on sun shine. If I could just get past the crushed meds that taste like hell, I'd be almost perfect.

Hi all over 60ers. I finally had my bypass surgery on the 20th. As a matter of fact, I'm just now getting d/fed from the hospital. Just a quick note about my experience so far. You will have some pain, but bearable . The one thing that no one through your entire pre-op training tells you is that you will have a lot of blood in your stool which is very liquidy. Please don't be alarmed like I was. I know this isn't the best topic to discuss, but I wish someone would have told me. The first 4 times I went there was what I thought was a lot of blood. It finally stopped. You will probably feel bloated . Got to go now . I think I'm getting sprung from the hospital. I will follow up with my progress.

Hi out there. It is good to hear from some in my age group. I guess I will still call you all kids as I will be 69 in Oct. Anyway, I am scheduled for an RNY on June 20th. I start my pre-op diet on June 5th. Good luck to all and hope to hear from you as we go through the process of a new lifestyle change.

    June Date Finally! Anyone Else?

Hi I'm BigTee and I'm having my bypass done on June 20 at the mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. I already have found a great surgery buddy, but I'm sure she would think the more there is of us supporting each other the better. So If anyone that is scheduled for the month of June want to buddy up let me know.

Hello Colleen, I don't appear to have any other problems. I am new to this Bariatric Pal site and I don't know if I have figured out yet how to navigate around. but if I can figure out how to get back to you I would love to have a surgery buddy. I you could help and tell me how to get back to you , like what forum I go to reach you, it would be helpful if we can go through this together. I'm 68 and I hope I can handle all of this. Please stay in touch and good luck to you. Since my surgery is scheduled one day before you, it would be nice if I could tell you how I'm doing, but that may not be realistic the day after surgery. I have been stocking up on protein drinks and anything else that I should have to be ready. I think my hardest thing will be the 2 wk pre-op diet.
  9. Big question out there to all of you Post Surgery folks. I am not scheduled for surgery until June 20th. I thought I had made up my mind that I would have the RNY bypass surgery, but now I'm wondering if anyone else out there had second thoughts about switching to a Sleeve surgery. I have read how so many of you have done so well and have lost a lot of weight with the sleeve surgery. The main reason I decided to get the RNY bypass was it, according to the staff at the Mayo Clinic, I would loose considerably more weight that I would with the Sleeve surgery. I want to loose about 110 pounds and maintain. Anybody out there have an suggestions while I still have time to change. Help if you can.

Hi James, I'm 68 and starting my journey. My scheduled bypass surgery date is June 20th, 2017. I just discovered your information on. The bariatric pal app. I have read every word and thank you for sharing your vast information. I will refer to this along my journey. I have so many questions about vitamins, how to eat, what to expect. Do you have any information out there how to approach eating right after surgery. All of your great recipes sound like I May have to wait for awhile after surgery to start. Once again, if you have more information, please tell me where to get. Thank BigTee.

Hi, I need help picking the best vitamins pre and post op bypass surgery. I was told to stay away from sugar and sucralose, but every chewable I look at even the Fusion ones advertised on this Bariatric Pal app has sucralose in it. I'm worrying about the dumping syndrome. My surgery is scheduled for June 20/2017.
