Jamocoa reacted to Introversion in Stomach Stretching is a Myth
I was a major volume eater prior to surgery...I was the type who ate 3 or 4 McDonald's double cheeseburgers with a large drink and still felt insatiably hungry afterward.
I'd eat 1 Subway 12-inch sandwich before eating another sub a few hours later and my hunger still wasn't tamed. I'd eat 3 or 4 plates of food at an all-you-can eat buffet and still feel hunger.
So, in that respect, the sleeve is great for those of us who once ate large volumes of food and still felt chronically hungry. It's knocked out 2 issues (hunger and portion control) with 1 stone.

I have watched his videos as well, and I believe in his reasoning. Notice that he also believes that soda of any kind, regular or diet, is pure poison for our bodies and I believe he is on target with that as well. I also follow Dr. Alvarez in Mexico on You Tube, he does a weekly podcast and will take anyone's questions, not just his patients (endobariatric.com). And if you follow him on snapchat, you can see every stomach he pulls out daily, lol. But to the original post, like any other subject, each of us has to do our own research, and determine what we believe based on what we find, and there is certainly no shortage of opinions out there, and what works for some might not work for others.

@HDScarlett That's what my paperwork says too. And pretty much every WLS video blogger on Youtube. According to this doctor, not the case. Either way soda (diet or regular) is terrible for our bodies, so I guess we should abstain :). But that's why especially his "Myths" video caught my attention.

My surgery was yesterday, my surgeon told me time and time again the the pouch can stretch - no more carbonated drinks (I held a ceremony for my last diet coke LOL). After what I have gone through to get here, the money spent, AND seeing people who have failed, I am following what my doctor has ordered!! I'm not going back. Thankfully, his office has a weekly support group too.

Thank you! It's hard to see much change day to day but that NSV was huge yesterday! I found myself more engaged and friendly in class because I wasn't worrying if everyone was staring at the fat girl in class [emoji16] so excited to continue to watch my body change

I am a full time student at msu and I had surgery July 25th. Last fall I struggled to fit in the desks. I had such bad anxiety that I'd have to sit in the back of class, get my seat before the other students came in, and would leave after everyone else. My stomach would press against the desk and hurt. Well I started classes again yesterday and guess what? I fit in the desks no problem, sat in the front of the class and had no anxiety. I had enough space to cross my legs under the desk even. just wanted to share this NSV. The scale hasn't moved much the last 2 weeks but this NSV just brightened my week and kept me going below are my pictures. The top ones are from April and the bottom is last week

I was wondering has anyone tried Pasta and rice substitutes? I see birds eye makes zucchini and lentil pasta it's pasta made out of veggies don't know if anyone has anything else they tried or if they tried that. Looking for options in the future.

I have tried the lentil and zucchini Pasta. It's OK. Pretty high in carbs so not an every day sort of thing. One bag is good for about 6 servings for me. I used some grated Parmesan on it.

So it was good enough though to satisfy the Pasta crave or not really? Lol

I would say yes. But I can handle a small quantity only, so you don't get the sedative effect of a big bowl of noodles!

My girlfriend who is a pasta-holic says that the only thing that actually works for her, "fools" her Pasta love is spaghetti squash. There's about 7grams of carbs in a cup. Be careful with the lentil stuff. I once purchased lentil crackers and just a few gave me such painful gas, I couldn't leave the house!! [emoji15] I imagine that kind of gas with our pouches could be horrible!

no!! I did all the research. Ohip will only cover a panniculectomy! Which is the removal of skin below belly bottom. In which you need a GP referral to a surgeon willing to work with Ohio. Most won't. Then that surgeon makes a claim to Ohip and that surgeon tells you how the billing to help you out. The one I went through was willing to pass me on a $400 payment by Ohip. And there was no way I was going to recover through all of this and not be happy. I know I needed more than a panniculectomy. Good luck to you!
