I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?

I'm having my bypass at 58 but I feel great since losing my weight from the sleeve. I can afford to lose a few more pounds with the bypass. Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app

Can we talk about food aversion

Just eat what you're craving in small bites but make it at home and substitute the unhealthy parts of the fast food for healthy choices. That's how you can keep busy and stop thinking of food all the time and you also learn how to make healthier choices and cook proper meals for yourself without the fast food versions.[emoji847] Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes I have always had problems with acid reflux, but I was on 20 mg twice a day. I never had it coming up on me in the middle of the night until I had the sleeve. They are going to fix my hernia at the same time they do the bypass. I'll have all my prerequisites done by July. I'll keep you posted if you want. Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. You can mix it in coffee, yogurt, cottage cheese with peaches, milk, ice cream, juice and anything you eat or drink almost. The only real way to find out what you like or dont is to simply try it. Dont be afraid to try different ways to experiment with protein powder. The worse thing that can happen is you waste a scoop or so. Try anything you can to get your protein in to keep healthy. Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. I mix elevation vanilla, one scoop in my morning coffee, dont even taste it. It's not too sweet and not too heavy of a vanilla flavor. You can only get Elevation at aldis. The protein bars are also good, not too sweet and not many carbs. Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Yes I just recently tried unjury and it is much better Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Six star unflavored whey protein powder 20 grams protein per scoop. I recently was at my nutritionist and she gave me a sample of unjury protein powder and it's even better, she suggested I get it on Amazon because it may be less expensive. Good luck! Can we talk about food aversion

I'm 2 years out in June 2019 and I still have food aversions especially in restaurants. I pretty much avoid restaurants. I just enjoy cooking at home more. Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app

    Six Star Protein

I try to get in at least one scoop of protein every day along with high protein foods. Recently I found that after mixing in my protein powder with my greek yogurt and let it set for a minute or two allows the protein to absorb into my yogurt or cottage cheese lessens the taste of the powder. I also add some stevia. It's a nice tip just thought I'd share my experience. Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. I use Six Star unflavored protein powder and it's pretty good. You can get a large canister at Walmart for 19.99 Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gulping water

I have the same problem and the dr did an endoscopy and found a hiatal hernia. I keep on having food come up also and it burns my throat from the acid coming up. Keep an albuterol inhaler close by because the acid literally burns my throat and I cant breathe it's very scary. Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app

    Dating

I'm single and my meds also keep me calm and I don't think it's the meds. Ever since I got divorced it's just a matter of having to take care for anyone else. I'm 57 and not wanting to cook or anything else for anyone else. I love being single. It's much more relaxing. Sent from my N9560 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Sweet Tooth - Post Bypass

Yes depending on SF candy is not a good idea at all. I could eat a ton of SF caramels and the calorie count is big, not worth the treat. Sent from my N9560 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Stricture or hernia...oh my

Yeah it's not just a stricture it ended up being a hiatal hernia so I'm doing tests to revise to the bypass. Should be ok, not anticipating too many problems. Sent from my N9560 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein shakes...

Yes everything is different after surgery. I no longer even like the smell of meat when it's cooking, I could literally throw up. I am able to tolerate chicken, turkey, and ham lunch meat, thank God I can get some natural protein in. I've turned to cottage cheese, and unflavored protein powder to get the rest in. I'd love some more ideas for protein. Sent from my N9560 using BariatricPal mobile app
