I was not required to do a pre-op diet and I'm really glad about that. you are going to have the rest of your life to learn how to eat properly, no reason to start early if your doc says it isn't necessary. It is way easier to stop eating after surgery because your stomach is tiny and you don't get hungry, why starve and suffer unnecessarily beforehand? (Just my opinion
BTW, my surgery was a breeze, no complications or ill effects due to the lack of a pre-op diet.
I love my sleeve and would do it all again in a heartbeat! Good luck to you on your amazing new adventure!

I am noticing this is a common fear, here and on Facebook groups as well. I think if you weren't nervous there would be something odd.. hang in there, once it's over you'll be encouraging others how normal it is to feel nervous [emoji173]️

Best of luck! I know the feeling. My surgery is scheduled for 07/20 and I'm already nervous.

It's normal to be nervous, but I am sure you both will be fine......and very happy after it is over. Mine was rny was two years ago this week and am down 150#s and so much happier. Good luck and best wishes for all to go smoothly!

Hi everyone. I am headed to Tijuana Mexico to have VSG done by Dr. Mario Camelo on June 27th. I am going alone, and even though I have read wonderful things, I am super nervous.

I don't start my pre-op diet until next week. Any advice is appreciated - or is anyone else having surgery this month and want to be a support buddy?

I took a week. I have a desk job and not a big office at all (a few steps here and there), but even in the week I was pretty tired for two or three of those days. All the walking you will be doing is great, but have expectations of possibly being very tired. Blessings on your journey!

Did anyone take off less time? I am having surgery on a Wednesday and was planning to return to work the following Monday.
I have a mostly sedentary job but end up raking up ~10k steps from 9-5 walking around my office building.

I am on the same boat as you. I am looking into Dr Illan too. My BMI is 35 and I don't want yo wait a year to see IF my insurance approves. I feel like my insurance won't either way because I'm not at 40 BMI. I also feel frustrated and not sure what to do. However, I've Been doing a lot of research and I'm between Dr illan and Dr Ariel Ortiz.

Lol, I've only told one friend and my husband that I've decided to go forward with the surgery but for about a year when I was thinking about it I mentioned it to a few people. My favorite response was, "you're not THAT fat", which I heard probably 3 times. I think it's supposed to be a compliment?

I feel the same. I was 195.8 day of surgery. I'm just passed 5 weeks and I was 173.6 this AM. I feel like it's going slow (I know it's not) but I love the decision I made.

A weight loss forum is the only place in the entire universe that will ever say "200 lbs isn't that heavy". it seems like today ive read a lot of "low" starting weights and low bmi posts. What baffles me is, most people's biggest regret is not doing this sooner, yet so many are confused at why a person would consider this at a "low weight"( whatever that is ). I say have at it . Why wait . For the most part I don't think anyone is opting to have major surgery just for shits and giggles. Some are concerned that instead of people doing this as a last resort , that its being done for vanity. Can we be honest here, yes most of us have medical problems that weight loss can fix or even save our lives BUT WHO DOESNT WANT TO LOOK GOOD?

I'm only 17 days out. I started out around 200, and weighed 195 on the day of surgery. I weigh 177 today. I'm so grateful to have had this surgery and I haven't had one second of regret.

I haven't, to be honest I went with the OCC, cause they were on Operha , Dr.oz and another day time news show.... I would stick to there or with Dr.illan at oasis I think. Why go to the unknown.

7500-9200 in Canadian dollars , but the OCC is one of the more expensive places. I do believe many people had great Success with Dr.illan , I think... at a much lower cost like 5500 Canadian. Just ask around in here, but make sure you pick a well known place, you need to have heard from lots of others, not 2 or 3...(I'm my books anyway)

I agree. If there were no complications or major problems. Why not recommend others? I think most people are concerned about complications more than anything than having a fancy hospital like in the states. Just saying.
