  1. So I'm not sure where to put this post since it covers several different topics I guess Before I had my gastric bypass last year, as you all know 1 of the things that you have to do is see the psychologist. So I went & seen her, and she basically took the wind out of my sails. I had a binge moment before my surgery & I made the mistake of telling her about it. She then told me that I had to read a book called End Emotional Eating. I don't emotional eat, but she told me that I had to read this book before she would give me the green light. So then I tried several times to read the book & I just could not get into the book at all. I ended up writing her a letter letting her know that I don't usually binge eat, and that I am NOT an emotional eater, and all that good stuff. Anyway she ended up giving me the green light, and I had my surgery last August. What really upsets me is that I was doing great with the way that I was eating, and had lost weight, even with having quit smoking (I'm still smoke free & at the writing of this post I'm at day 456 (1 year 3 months). Thus far my lowest weight was 235, down from 281 on the day that I started my weight loss plan from the hospital. I had quit smoking on March 8, 2017 & I started my hospital diet on March 27, 2017. When she told me that I had to read that book, and she criticized me with stuff, she honestly threw me into a tail spin & I started cheating here & there, then fell off the wagon totally. Now don't get me wrong, when I had to do my pre-op & post-op diets I did them, with the exception of like the last 3 days of my final stage of my post op diet. We went out for Chinese with a friend of mine who's like my little brother. Unfortunately I guess that I had eaten too much & got sick. Fast forward to now & I'm back up to 250, I'm having more chronic pain that I had been having, and I'm extremely depressed. Trust me, I'm not going to do anything dangerous to myself or others. We also have been having money problems, though as of today things will get a little better since my husband will be back to working 6 days a week, not sure how long that will last, but we will take advantage of all the hours that he's getting. Plus he's working for cash filling sand bags for a pipeline. I NEED to get back on track. I can't keep doing this. We just got back on our medicaid insurance, and now that I've been approved for social security disability I'm just waiting to get on medicare. I want to find a counselor to talk to, but it's almost impossible to find someone that is taking new patients, or that will take medicaid. I just don't know what to do or how to do it. I sleep a good portion of my day, plus I'm drinking cappuccino for Keurig, way too much of it. It's 70 calories per 8oz cup, and I'm drinking 6 or more per day because I'm sitting home constantly. My car is in the shop & hubby is using the car for working. Monday I have to get up at 7 to make sure that I get him to work by 7:30a.m., and I have no clue when I'm going to get my car back from the shop. I'm beginning to feel like I'm a prisoner in my own home & am just really frustrated. We don't have public transportation. Needless to say, all in all, I just feel down, lonely, depressed, and frustrated with so much & I don't know which way to turn anymore. Maybe i f I can find a buddy that I can be accountable to that would help me to get back on track? And I can help them to stay on track as well. Thanks for hearing me out! Lauri

    Anyone Near Danville, PA?

Hi Memabock, I'm not sure where Coudersport is, I've heard of it, but not a clue where it is. You're doing great! I'm stuck between 233 & 236, which means I'm most likely losing in size again. I went from a 3x nightshirt to a Lg/xlg nightshirt. Hubby is really proud of me! Honestly I can't remember the last time that I was at this weight. I look forward to my 1st big goal which is 199. The last time I was that weight was in 1996 when I found out that I was pregnant with my son.

Hi Mema, Sorry to hear that your incision popped. The incisions on my belly didn't have any sutures. I'm assuming my stomach has staples? Where are you located at? Lauri

So close to the double century mark!!

LOL I know how to make the ticker, I guess that I just don't know how to get it posted!
  6. I'm curious if anyone else has this issue that is still in the very early post op. I can't shut my mind off, it keeps telling me that I want S'mores, Popeye's Chicken (dark & mild), steak, burgers, pork chops, just everything, ESPECIALLY fruit. Tues I was moved forward on my menu to stage 2B & was able to add eggs (1 large egg per serving), ricotta (1/2 cup per serving), cottage cheese (will NEVER come in my house LOL), string cheese (1 stick at a time), rotisserie chicken (3oz, which I learned is too much), I was told that I'm not taking in enough protein & that I'm not taking in enough water. I'm doing the best that I can, that's for sure. I do need to sorta complain for a second, then I have a question. When I originally went to my hospital I was given a book that is over 10 years old that I had to read, and my husband also read as well, and I was given a booklet that the hospital put together with the different stages & stuff like that. I was given this stuff this past March. It shows that stage 2B I can add a large egg, cottage cheese, and ricotta. When I went there today I was told I could add those 3 items, plus add rotisserie chicken no skin & string cheese as well. I'm not complaining too loud because chicken is my favorite food. According to this booklet stage 3 is when I was to add chicken. I don't know, I'm just totally confuzzled as usual. And is there a difference between rotisserie & baked or grilled with no skin or put in an air fryer? My question is this, why is it that different Dr's, hospitals, etc., have different ideas of what is on each diet stage, when it's all getting us to the same place? Lauri

So close to the double century mark!!

I had my Dr appt on Tues, and I'm down 30 lbs. I'm at 251 & the Dr said that I'm doing wonderful. The nutritionist let me move to the next phase of my diet, so I'm really happy about that! I did get to add rotisserie chicken & string cheese, as well as ricotta, eggs (1 egg per serving), cottage cheese (so not happening in this house LOL) As a side note, can anyone see my ticker? If not, how do I fix that?

    Things you wish you had

I was really happy to have my tablet because I was in the middle of watching a TV Series on Netflix when I went in. I was really glad that I brought a 10 foot cord with me. After I was taken to my room my husband set everything up for me. Definitely do NOT forget to bring earbuds. Luckily I remembered to bring those! I actually brought 2 pairs in case 1 went south while I was there. Also don't forget the plug to plug in your phone/tablet cord into. Lauri

So close to the double century mark!!

Thank you so much Diane I definitely will. Tomorrow I have my 1st post op appointment & will be adding eggs & ricotta to my already very minimal diet! I can't wait for 2 weeks after that, then I can add fish, seafood (still not sure if I'm ready to try either one), chicken and turkey, plus go from 1 egg to 2. I'll be doing that for a month before I get to my permanent menu. I'm so ready to get on my permanent diet and get all this behind me! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

So close to the double century mark!!

I haven't seen 199 since the day I found out that I was pregnant with my son, who will be 21 on January 16! As of this morning I an down to 252.6. I started this journey on March 28th weighing 281. On March 8th I quit smoking. I am on day 159 & hubby is on day 84! I had my gastric bypass on August 4th to get rid of my acid reflux & Gerd. The added bonuses are getting rid of my type 2 diabetes & lose the weight I didn't lose with my sleeve. So my goals are 250, 225, 199, 175, and then 140, though the hospital said 160. I'm willing split the difference at 150 LOL Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

  14. OK, I have to add this, it is NOT the Dr's that I had an issue with, I found the Dr's to be great, it was the group that recruited for the Dr's, which was Belite, JoAnne especially, now granted the week that I went her son had been killed, but she was still there, as was 3 others, and as I said, I wouldn't give you .02 cents for the group at all!

    Proper Sugar Free popsicles

Halo Top I LOVE, the only problem I found with that is that when you leave it sit in the freezer for a bit after opening it, that when you open it again it has receded to about 1/2 a container & it tastes funny. As for no sugar added fudgesicles, the popsicle brand ones have aspartame. If there's a brand out there without aspartame that I can have PLEASE let me know, I want to try it!
