  1. 7/26 - Worst day EVER!! My dog was hit by a car and his back leg paw is broken. My mom had him off of the lease and he was peeing on some grass near the curb. He was walking on the edge to come back around when he fell into the street and a driver clipped his back right leg. The driver didn't even stop.

He is okay and just requires surgery to get pins in his right ankle. He has surgery on 7/28 in the morning.

I broke my Keto for the day. Anxious eating has always been my problem. I had Tostitos and salsa and just ate half a bag without realizing it. It took over an hour, however I still ate it.

7/27 - Got the price of how much this would cost. Over $5,000 for 3 nights stay, surgery, pins and painkillers. I cannot complain. It was funny to watch people look at me as I paid the medical bills up front. They were like, what does this young girl do and how much money does she make? I was looking at them like, I will pay anything for this dog. I just want to be able to take him home already. He is such a resilient dog though. He continues to try and get up although it hurts. I told him we will be twins (I have screws in my right ankle).

Kept to my keto today. Had beef chevy's for snacks. Sooo good.

Oh that is such a beautiful picture poor baby looking and feeling hurt. Got a IV on him. I could just squeeze him, I hope that driver trips on his way out his car.

  3. I ran in the pouring rain this morning for the first time. It was actually not too bad except for the rain in my eyes. I am having a slight issue with my right knee, nothing serious just a twinge so I am running with a compression sleeve and following the RICE protocol. I am praying this doesn't side line me. I will be taking an extra rest day tomorrow just to be careful.

You are such a trooper. I am so proud of you. The progress you are making and the continuing with running is so beautiful. I am praying all goes continuing well for your knee.💕😎

  6. It's been awhile. No reason, I just haven't been feeling anything lately. A lot happening on the personal aspect of life but overall still good.

I have finally reached a true stall. My body weight has been fluctuating between 201 lbs - 205 lbs. Slightly frustrated because my second goal is 200 lbs. I am almost there but this stall is kicking my butt.

Went for a follow up. Nothing special except I was told I was not eating enough like I used to. It is funny because eating a lot is what got me to need the surgery and now I do not eat enough. They are right though. With me working early mornings, I can eat once maybe twice a day and then sleep the remainder of the day and do it all over again (do note: I am not a morning person). The only time I would eat a third meal this past week is on Gym day. I would eat something small once I am done working out (protein bar or protein shot) and then I head home to sleep. My new bedtime is around 5 - 6pm since I have to be up at 3:00am to start getting ready.

So I am going to end on a good note though. A smile that has not left my face since finding out the news.....(backstory): I worked on a project at work that made sure all the integrations went in smoothly upon setup of our new system. My manager took credit for the integration and tried to change people's imagine a me at work (combative, aggressive, failing to perform, you know the usual). Fast forward a few months. The company is opening a new branch and office and she was away for two weeks doing the integration there and upon launch it flopped. Everything that could go wrong did. Oh how Upper Management mad with her since they had to delay the launch. Everytime he comes out of a meeting she looks stressed. Everything she did to me, she is getting in return. Karma Karma Karma!

I'm glad things are better sorry about the stall. I'm glad things at your job worked against your supervisor she deserves what ever happens to her.

  7. Does the noise in your stomach after you eat ever goes away? Always everytime I eat certain foods it taste like I swallowed a nasty pill, does that ever goes away?

    1. Sweet as peaches

I was hoping it would. I don't want to be getting stares cause my stomach is talking to me. I might put a hat on it along a mustache and say it is just my overgrown twin trying to come out.

  8. As I was running this morning I was thinking. I am enthusiastic and determined after having WLS to get healthy and increase my fitness. I am doing this for me and no one else. The negativity and sometimes downright stupidity that I read on here does not have to impact me at all.

So as much as I think I could help some others I am not going to enter into the craziness. I am going to stick with my status and the thread my friend and fellow sleeve sister @Newme17 started.

Running is getting easier day by day. I ran 1.5 miles today with no walk breaks. I think I am done with walking.... it feels so good to say that.

    Have a great day everyone!!

  9. i got so depressed last night.... As some of you know i got divorced at the beginning of the year.  I'm now in the process of cleaning out my house to sell  .... I was going through the filing cabinet. Files of house stuff like appliances, ac, insurances... etc.... then i got to the files of crap that my ex bought for himself... boats, all the **** that goes with it... troll motors, 150-200$ reals.. 100 rods... hundreds on fishing tackle.. Stereo systems for every veh HE owned.. (not my car), guns, camera's..$3000-6000 ... Lens, just one of which was $8000... I could go on and on.... but what really got to me, was in that entire file cabinet... I had 1 sheet of paper... not even a file... one sheet... my wedding ring that he bought for 1900 bucks.... that was it... it's all i had to show for 26 years of marriage.  All I could do was sit and cry.or 26 years of marriage.

    1. Sweet as peaches

You had 26 years of marriage now you have the next 26 years to stir up new memories for yourself. I suggest you collect the papers, file cabinet and start yourself a good old fashioned kiss my behind bonfire in homage to your ex. You look fabulous at 48 with your birthday next week. You have made your goal and got smoking hot now it's time to say goodbye and continue on with your fabulous life.

It's quite funny I'm in my hoodie at work under the a/c of course. I was thinking of putting braided extensions in my hair with a reddish color. Cause my hair is so gray on top. Then i was thinking a perm straightener with brownish highlights. I don't know. I know i need some dresses cause the old ones are draping under my feet and falling off.

  11. Hi everyone! I'm me and nervous. I just turned 60 years old. I think I'm officially grown up now. I'm young at heart, goofing around with my grandchildren all nine of them. I have had crohns disease since I was 19'years old. I still managed to make it through nursing school and more ask retired after 35 years. My husband and I have custody of three of our grandchildren after our son in law died and our daughter ran away. One of the things I would like to run by the members is my feeling of selfishness about having this gastric sleeve. I'm overweight, diabetes, hip replacement and crohns. I feel that if I didn't make it through surgery, it would absolutely devastate the grandkids again! I never thought I could even have a sleeve done due to having all of my colon and rectum removed. So, I have an ileostomy. I have a huge hernia at the site. I went to Duke University and the gastroenterologist suggested I have weight loss surgery because if he repairs the hernia, the weight will cause it to come back. I'm scheduled in three months.

First, I would like to congratulate you for being a wonderful grandma. Your grandkids are extremely lucky that you took them in. True love is being shown and I am proud to read your story. That being said in order to be the best for them your health has to come first. Trust in God to bless your surgeon's hands with the ability to give you a longer life.

  12. I noticed something this morning, I haven't been checking my blood sugar as often as I usually do. It has been my habit for the past 3.5 years to check it as soon as I get up and 2 hours after eating either lunch or dinner. I am falling out of the habit because every time I check, it is awesome. I checked my meter just now and my 30 day average is 88 with N=37. In the past N would have been at least 60, but usually closer to 70. I guess I am getting more confident in the realization that I really don't need to take any medications to have a stable, great, and completely normal non-diabetic blood sugar reading.

I ran my longest distance this morning 2.5 miles. My pace is still really slow because I am running for 5 minutes and walking for 1.5 minutes, rinse and repeat. I am ahead of schedule with the C25K. When the program tells me my workout is complete to begin cool down, I run another segment of run/walk. I just don't feel ready to stop and want to increase my mileage. I am amazed at how energetic I feel on the days I run as opposed to my rest days. Yesterday I was a sloth all day. Saturday is my Sabbath day so I observe the day of rest completely. The only thing I did yesterday was go to church, post here, and read. I felt sluggish all day. I have decided I need to watch less TV. It just encourages me to be lazy. I am going to limit my time in front of the TV to 1 hour every other day. I want to be more productive in other areas of my life and this is one way to do it.

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

  16. Post op Day 15....

For dinner last night I nibbled on some very mushy broccoli with a hint of lemon and pepper and a touch of salt. It was DELISH! I probably had 2 bites of that and then I had paired it with my Ricotta Bake. I maybe had 3 bites of that. I am still learning the feeling of what is "full". The DS is not like the gastric bypass. Things seem to go down much easier as opposed to the gastric bypass it was coming up regardless if I liked it or not. I am thankful for that experience only because I will not over eat. I am scared to throw up especially with my wounds still very much present and hurting occasionally. ( I think the nerves are reconnecting) But on that same point I am scared I may not eat enough. Today I still brought a protein drink and I had half left over from work. So now I have had thus far 1 full protein premier protein and a half and 3 bites of my ricotta bake that I brought. I also brought some non fat yogurt but I doubt I will open that. I know I cannot live in fear but I do not want to not make my protein intake for the day. I have been getting the water in but I noticed my urine not as clear as prior to surgery. Oh well....I will keep trucking.

  17. 7/8 - Extremely healthy keto day.

7/9 - Halo Top 1/2 Cup Chocolate Mocha Chip (I am in heaven!!). Healthy keto day. Weighed in at 208.4 lbs. Gained 1.4 lbs

7/10 - Hung out at Coney Island with my Mom, little Brother and my dog Buddy aka Rasta Scoobs. At Nathans Philly Chicken with no bun. The guy gave me the nasty look when I ordered it. (It was like really, you are going to come here and want to eat healthy at Nathans?). With a nasty tone, he says, "It's going to be the same price and the same amount of meat." So in an even nastier tone, I said, "Did I ask about the amount of meat or the price? No. I asked for a Philly Chicken with No Bun. Thank you." He just placed my order and my brother says, "Don't be surprise if you find some special sauce or a hair floating around in it lol."

7/11 - Keto Day. Decided to step on the scale and weighed 205.4 lbs. I was like WTF!!! What is going on? At this point my weight is fluctuating up and down. I think I maybe starting stall soon and my body is warning me. It could also be water weight.

7/12 - Another Keto Day. Went out to eat with my mom and brother and I was upset because I could have the Tacos of Bell. My mom keeps saying, "Oh you have your meal prep and you have been doing so good on your diet. Taco Bell is not good for you." I was like then why are you eating it. She says, "I'm grown and your mama. Do as I say and not as I do."  She is right but sooo annoying sometimes.

7/13 - My day was healthy. Received two new Hidrate Spark bottles. Gave one to my mom and brother. They are in love and I set them up on their phones.

Breakfast: 2 egg whites boiled with salt.

    Snack: 2 pickle slices

Lunch 1 - 2 : 2.1 oz of turkey with a tomatoes, a little cheese, romaine lettuce and my special dressing. (Broken up into 2 meals)

    Snack: 21 olives.

Dinner 1 - 2: 4 oz of ground beef, a little cheese, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and salsa. (Broken up into 2 meals)

  18. I pushed myself a little this morning on my run. I ran longer and walked less. I can feel the difference. It took me longer to recover at the end, but I added a half mile to my 30 minutes of run time. I feel like running is becoming an addiction for me and I need to tread carefully. I find myself thinking about my next run throughout the day and I am already researching my next pair of shoes. I guess there are many more worse activities that I could be doing, but there is still this little uneasiness as I feel myself changing on the inside as well as the outside.

I had several church members remark and compliment me on my weight loss yesterday at church. Nobody asked me how I was losing, probably because most of them know I have been following a  carb diet  since January. I still haven't gotten to a place where I feel comfortable talking about my surgery. Maybe someday in the future I will.

Tomorrow will be the 8th Monday since surgery. I am inching closer to a normal weight. I am simple overweight now and not obese. I can't remember how long it has been since I have been this weight (184.5), but it has been at least 9-10 years. I will be 49 in August and I am starting to believe I will reach my goal before I turn 50.

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

  19. So I've been playing around with my eating schedule and decided yesterday that I was going to increase my meals from 5x a day to 6x a day with smaller portions. I went from 4x a day to 5x a day a few weeks ago, and it went well, but I was wondering if it might be better for me to constantly be eating, even if it is smaller amounts.

Today's the first day I'm trying it out, and I'm noticing something very strange. Even though I'm eating smaller meals, today I'm feeling MORE restriction from my sleeve. I don't know what it is... Is there a "sweet spot" where if you eat past it your stomach goes numb? I know it usually takes me a long time to feel my restriction after I've eaten, about 45minutes or so.  Anyway, I've been eating every 2hrs and for the entire day today I've been feeling full.

It's weird. I'm coming up on 7weeks out and I'm still learning how my sleeve works.

I haven't had a session yet without my girls in it.  They love to dance/workout too.  Even if I do a YouTube workout video, they're in it.  I want them to always remember the days that they worked out with me.  I did the same with my dad back in the 80's when he had an exercise class he taught.  That's where my love to exercise came from....I just pray and hope they don't let go when they get older as I did.

Oh no pain at all just when I walk i have to wear absorbent underwear cause of the pee. It happened when I was heavier due to panicking while walking. I don't want to fall backwards cause walking is the exercise I am doing for now. I want to get back to my routine but the peeing is complicating things.

  23. Okay. Status update is very late. I cannot remember some of the days so I will be skipping those.

Work as been hectic. I truly started getting stressed out and actually starting eating carbs....a lot of carbs. I had a one week carb binge last week and I ended up gaining 2 lbs. I am not sure if it is from muscle or from the food (I am going to go with the food for accountability).

My ex-boyfriend wants to get back together. That is interesting.

Food wise, I have tried the following

I finally bought Halo Top. OMG that both came from heaven and hell lol. The ice cream is sooo good and delicious and if you do not pay attention, you can eat a lot of it.

I tried the Power Crunch Protein bars and I love them. I have one on the days that I go to the gym. I have spent this entire week getting myself back into Ketosis and it has been pretty easy actually.

Well that is it for now. I will try to keep posting daily.

At this very moment I couldn't be more proud of you. Always remember you are at the place you want to be and continue to stand strong on your feelings. You submerged yourself into completing your goals and got back on the horse. Boyfriends are like flowers they bloom every season then they wither and disappear. Whatever decisions you make just remember you didn't call it quits.

  24. As I sit here in my car, waiting to have my meds filled that I forgot about, I'm filled with so many emotions. I'm scared, nervous, excited, happy, tired, worried, thankful......

** note to others that has to do clear liquids the day before --- get house chores done BEFORE this day!! 😳 I'm washing everyone's sheets and just getting caught up on laundry period and I'm exhausted!! I've had broth for breakfast YUMMY, sugar free popsicle that I almost had to fight my son for, and now I'm drinking a G2 hoping to get a little energy **

I have been on this journey since December and it's almost here. I cannot believe it. I have to be at the hospital in 19 hours. I'm guessing they will start surgery 2 hours later. So in 21 hours, I begin my new life. A life I've wondered if I'd ever have again.

Loving food has made me hate my body both physically and mentally. I cannot stand to look in a mirror. I hate to have my pic taken. I've missed out of being in pics with my kids as they've grown up and it stinks!!! I hurt constantly. I'm looking forward to no pain and being able to buy clothes that are cute and not that "just fit". But most of all I'm looking forward to loving my life again!!

    ❤️

The weight is slowly coming off and I'm keeping up with working out (strength training 4 days a week plus 60 minutes of cardio every other day plus walking/biking to class and work), but my friends and personal trainer don't see me being able to put on muscle until I'm done losing weight (which probably won't be for at least a year)
