I started with putting Sriracha in broth as soon as I got home from the hospital, and kept going, adding spices, hot sauce, etc. to anything I think will benefit from it. Spicy has never bothered me in the slightest either before or after surgery.

So funny seeing this thread because my mom and I were arguing about this today lol. I wanted Thai spicy tuna fish pouches and I'm on purees phase and she keeps suggesting that spice is bad for my healing cut on stomach. I told her, I asked on here at one time and people basically agreed that it was fine unless you couldn't handle it any longer. I tried the tuna without issue.
Now my weight center always puts patients on protonix for a month so I don't know if that's keeping me from feeling any adverse effect from the heat!!??
Anyways, I love spice. Love thai food, siracha and pickled jalapenos plus I make a pretty good salsa with Serrano chilies!!
FYI- hot peppers are good good for your metabolism too,!!

I can actually handle much, much spicier foods now. I crave it. I've been eating a ton of Korean and Thai foods. I think I eat so little, and I miss flavor, so I crank it up to 10 when I can.

One of those things you just kinda have to try and see, I think. I haven't had any issues with the spicier things I've tried so far, so I'm gradually ramping up the spiciness just to see how it goes. I may try some Indian curry and find out, before too long.

Tomato Soup was one of my the first foods I could tolerate. It's easy to make at home and most restaurants serve it too- ditto on it being a lifesaver.

I just made a new treat I thought I would share. I used 1/4 cup of 0% Fage and 1 tsp of sugar free Fat Free Jello Cheesecake pudding (mix only) and 1 tsp of Torani Sugar Free Raspberry Syrup. It was pretty good and 6g of Protein. It came out really thick, so I might use a little less of the pudding mix next time.
    Just thought I would share

Oh no, that's just a random title given to me by the site based on how many posts you've made. For example, so far, yours is novice, and will change as you post more. I'm only 23, so I'm not what you're looking for! Luckily, there are forums on the site for older patients. I'll post a few threads I've found:
    Any 2017 60'ish sleever's out there? http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/392282-any-2017-60ish-sleevers-out-there/
    Any More Sixties? http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/224898-any-more-sixties/?page=10
And there's a few threads under 70s and beyond here, but they're not recently active: http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/418-seventies-amp-beyond/
    Good luck!
@Keebie sorry for going off topic

You say you're senior member. Just how old are you? I'm 69 and hoping to find some folks in this older age group. Wondering if age will play a part.

I am also into the purieed stage. I deskinned and dissected a rottiserie chicken. Put in blender with refried Beans chicken broth and garlic powder. It is very good. I added some shredded cheese and nuked to get cheese melted. I may have added a bit too much of the beans but with a little work it will be even better.

Shel, I think it's more not keeping anything down. Just be careful ya never wanna screw yourself up.
And thank you guys all for your responses. I am trying desperately to stay away from starches and creamed Soups but there seriously isn't a lot to eat if you can't do the puréed meats and don't want to blow up on carbs and sugar also and I can't live on yogurt and Protein Shakes and eggs for 3 weeks. I just can't lol

I'm really full, too after just a 1/4 cup of anything puréed. Makes it hard to get all my fluids in. I started making my puree's almost like full liquids by blending extra good or adding a little extra Water or milk. Seriously, I could probably drink my mashed potatoes through a straw. The only exception is my tuna purée, but I only eat a tablespoon of that. New thing this morning.... Plain Greek yogurt with puréed canned peaches stirred in.
    Hang in there, ally!

I'm a newbie & just guessing but that feeling in your stomach could be felling full. I'm 5 weeks post-op and just starting the purée stage. Maybe your body is not ready for food yet. As long as you are getting your needed protein, take tour time with the food. Your body will accept when it's ready.

I'm just starting the purée/soft food stage. I bought some baby food thinking I could season it to my liking(I WAS WRONG!!). I tried the chicken because I'm trying to make sure I get my Protein, but it was dry. So I went to Taco Bell and got some refried Beans & mixed it with the chicken. It was pretty good. I will probably have that for dinner also.
I have just discovered this site last week & am so grateful for all the information on here. The journey so far has been hard, but I feel it will be easier because I have better information
    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

I can keep everything down. I've never thrown up or anything. I was given acid reducer meds. I take one every morning. It's just the heavier foods that give me indigestion when I eat them in the evening. So I'm going to try doing puree in the early afternoon and then full liquids the rest of the day.

Are you on acid reflux meds? They sent me home with them to take and I HAVE to for four months... Apparently the reflux is very common with the sleeve.... What worries me tho is someone not keeping down stuff that at this point that you should be able to... I was told if you're not able to keep stuff like that down to call the dr because u might have what's called a stricture which is a narrowing in your stomach that they'd have to do a scope and open it up. Please be careful and if you've upset you're new stomach it's probably really irritated and may take a few days to settle down. Either way if you're having issues your doctors are there for YOU. That's what our money pays for. Please be careful
