  1. Well mine was moved from the 12th to the 17th. I'm on day 3 of 4 days. They dont count the surgery date as part of the 3 day stay. I am hurting pretty much today. The pain pump meds were doing the same to me as morphine... Uncontrollable itching. So I stopped. Bam... Pain city. But I'm dealing. They gave me some liquid Tylenol. Blah... that was horrible. But it's taking the edge off. It hurts to drink. Pain all the way down. Hoping this will subside soon. Because once I'm off IV... Fluid intake will be on me.

  3. I'm doing my first sips now. Every time I sip anything it feels like a huge bubble in my throat like I need to burp. Sometimes it does burp sometimes it just sits there. They said this is normal but it's not very comfortable. So far I've had half of a 8 oz Pure Life water bottle two sips of Crystal Light and two spoons of Jello. What a Breakfast. Lol

They also just told me I wouldn't be leaving till Thursday for sure. They don't count yesterday the day of surgery at day one and they keep the patients here for three days.

Where do you live? I live 9-10 miles north Nashville.

  4. Glad to hear that you are doing well! I am doing well also. My surgery went well and I feel good. I must say though the gas pain was bad for me and it lasted for hours! It was not a pleasant time for me. I did however walk a lap around the hallway just hours after surgery. I am happy all is going well for me. 1500373904972.thumb.jpeg.c9edfb026d9ba0a6d21a0b62d5340747.jpeg

    Oh your so beautiful.
I'm so excited for you. Your going to do great.

I was blessed on the lack of gas pain this time. I had that really bad after my gallbladder surgery..
That was the worst thing ever. Ugh... but everything's thumbs up right now. I'm suppose to do a test today to check for leaks. Sounds fun lol... how many days were you told you might stay in the hospital? I was told about 3. I was hoping just to I'm ready to go home already.20170718_034101.jpg

  5. It almost 4am. Feeling great. Already walked around a couple times. Too many wires and stuff to unhook or I'd love to get up more. Surprisingly the pain is minimal. Of course it does hurt just not too bad. But I do have a high pain tolerance. Of All the things I'm finding the urinary catheter the worst. I can't wait till they take that out hopefully sometime later today. I posted a picture of all my incisions. Apparently I have a total of 9 that's including the drain. From my pre-op class I was told they usually 6. Wonder what the other few were for? Hope all is well. Hugz

  7. Well my surgery was scheduled for 9 a.m. by the time they got me back into the surgery room it was 2:30. LOL but all done. Doing great...did my first walk up and down the hallways. Not able to drink yet just swabbing my mouth with a little swabbers. I have my little push button pain thing but after I wake up I know it's been a few hours and it really isn't too bad. I've had multiple other surgeries like gallbladdel, appendix, and hysterectomy...so I have a pretty high pain tolerance and never had a problem. I was trying to post on my blog from my phone but apparently I can't. Pooie. Hope your doing well. Hugz

Well I'm a bit flustered. I Just got a call and surgery was moved to Monday. Talk about annoyed. So now my surgery date is July 17th at 9am. Causing some issues with time off and stuff. Ugh

  11. July sleevers! How many days are you all requesting!? I'm am only able to take 8 days, I hope that's good enough for healing!!

I only took 8 (business) days off too. I figured that with two weekend should be enough. I only was off 3 days after my hysterectomy and I'm figuring this may be similar? But I did fill out my short-term disability in case there was any complications. But my doctor told me most people feel pretty good after a week. But everybody's different and have different pain tolerances.

  12. I'm still preop but I gave up caffeine years ago. 2011 to be exact. Haven't had anything but Decaf coffee and Water. I never likey sweet drinks and have had my fill during this 3 week pre op diet. Everything sweet... Blah. But wanted to say I have felt great and never needed it. Id stay of the stuff if you can. As you lose weight natural energy will be all you need. I can't wait. Just this 20lbs I've lost on this preop diet has felt great. Can you imagine when more comes off. Who needs caffeine. GrInS :)

Hi everyone, I am 7 days away from surgery! I am getting to the point of impatience. I had a big breakdown on Monday and finally feel a little better! How is everyone coping with the waiting game? It's driving me crazy!

I'm with you :) I too have been keeping real busy. I do a lot of hands on stuff like Painting, crochet, Canning. Helps time really go by. I Canned 20 lbs of potatoes, Veggie Soup and Zucchini Relish all day Wednesday. We didn't do no cookout or go anywhere. Didn't want to smell all that grilled stuff. We just watched movies and ate sugar free Popsicle. LOL The 12th will be here before we know it.

  14. I always state that every program and doc is different. I posted my personal pre-op diet on my blog on here. I'm on my last week of a three week liquid pre-op diet. It gets much easier as I go and it will for you. I noticed there is always a day or so that is just real rough. The fourth day for me was the worst. But after that it wasn't too bad. I don't even feel real hungry anymore.

I have a schedule and stick with it. Every hour I have something. I start with two cups Decaf coffee 6am- Tomato juice (5oz can) and broth 7am - Premier Protein shake 8am - 1/4 cup cottage cheese with sugar free Jello or seasoning of choice if I want savory 9am - I repeat this once more for 10, 11, 12 and 1 - then I go home from work and have another tomato juice while I make dinner for family. I have one Oikos triple zero yogurt (coffee is the bestest) and two sugar free Popsicle. Tada - days over and I start again... LOL - sometimes I have one more shake in the evening but really haven't much. I add Protein unflavored powder (Unjury) to my jello and between that and the cottage cheese and yogurt protein - it makes up the protein from that last shake.

Yes there are times I so want to eat, especially when cooking something I love for dinner, but every morning I feel better and better. My edema is practically gone and I'm down 20lbs which I really feel a difference when I walk because my back is in less pain.

I keep real busy. I'm taking more time in my hobbies and stuff. I love painting and spend more time doing that than eating. I also walk. Especially at lunch break at work. I walk while everyone brings in their McDonald, Panda express and all that other processed poison. It helps get me away from all the smells. *wink*

Blessing on your journey - You so got this - GrInS :)

  15. Hi everyone! So I've creeped along the forum for some time now, but have never posted anything. Well I just had my Sleeve done June 28th, and today is my first day home. I'm suppose to drink 2 Protein Shakes a day, and I'm struggling. I've drank 1 and it took me almost all day, but this second one is killing me. If I tried to drink this and finish it, I think I will be up all night long. I also have to drink my Water to get the 2 liters a day. I know everyone's diets post op are different, but what if I'm unable to finish it? I'm going to try, but I'm nervous I'll be unable to. The thought of doing this all over again tomorrow and the following week is making me so nervous. Did anyone struggle with the 2 shakes a day? Any tips or advice? Also is it totally terrible if I'm unable to finish this second one? Sorry for all the questions, I don't know who else to ask.

The Fluid will be the most important. I'm scheduled July 12th and just went through a 3 hour pre-op class. Very helpful. My doc requires two weeks of Clear Liquids right after surgery then two weeks of milk based liquid then two weeks of pureed before the intro to solid foods. They told me staying hydrated is more important than anything the first two weeks. So definitely don't worry so much. You will get there. Blessing to you on your journey to the new you. GrInS :)

  16. I always seemed to diet right around my bday. Lol! This lifestyle change will be worth the sacrifice though!

Ha ha... that's so true. Funny...i always started my diets in October. Anyways did great through all the challenges of Halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas. You know what did me in. Valentine's day... baskin robins love potion Ice cream always came out then. Been two years since I've had it. Going strong. This will be so worth it. GrInS :)

Yes this is so nice. I got the Hot and Sour and strained all the stuff out and it was soooo yummy. I just finished my first week of three week pre-op diet and doing good. I'm down 8lb.

***My life saver is the sugar free Jello. I add 1 scoop of Unjury Unflavored Protein Powder to a cup of cold Water, mix real good and then add that to my already dissolved jello that is 1 cup hot water. I like firm firm jello so I do 2 pkgs jello to 2 cups water total. One hot to dissolve the jello and one cold for the Protein powder. Mix both and pour into single serve containers. I add the protein powder to make sure I get enough protein in for the day because I have trouble doing three premiere Protein Shakes a day. I really get sick of all the sweet. blah

I also use Unjury chicken flavor Soup protein mix too... this is so good. I'm going to experiment and had it in unflavored Gelatin see how that works. LOL - soup cubes *wink*

I do use broth cubes for convenience, but I don't want to much sodium so I also buy the organic premade broth from Walmart. These are good and less sodium. I am allowed cottage cheese on my pre-op diet so that helps too, cause I can sprinkle with seasonings.

I also am allowed Oikos triple zero yogurt once a day. Those are so yummy. Coffee flavor is my FaV!

For those of you just starting your pre-op. I'm already not feeling as hungry as I used too. I have to remind myself sometimes to make sure I get enough stuff in for the day. Its true once you get past the first four or five days it gets easier. I do miss a crunch now and then. LOL - I did have (bad bad) a few of those Quest protein chips. But just got right back on. This diet is to help us shrink our livers and drop a few pounds to help in lessen any complications during surgery. It also helps us detox and ready our body and minds for the changes its about to go through. Everybody's pre-op diet is different. Just depends on your program and doctors requirements and your current health. I'm scheduled July 12th and so excited and nervous.

I'm scheduled for 7/12. I start my diet on Monday.

I'm also scheduled for 07/12 - Nashville TN at Centennial with Dr. Dyer. Been doing my pre-op diet. One week down - two to go. :)

  19. I too am almost one week through, but mines a three week liquid, so two more weeks to go. I had a real bad day yesterday. Stomach cramped and burned all day. I really drank up the broth and had a Oikos triple zero yogurt which is thick and filling. The warmth from the broth and the thick yogurt really helped. Like Dale said above. Just get through today.

Today has been pretty easy so far. My biggest challenge has been having to cook dinner and not get to eat. I planned menus my kids can make (their 14 - 21) , so i don't have to be in the kitchen much and plan crock pot meals I don't have to worry about either so much. this helps a lot. :) Out of site, out of mind... keep busy and the time will fly. Blessing on your journey.
