GassyGurl got a reaction from Lolo 2020 in Gastric sleeve Self pay...Any recommendation?
I paid $9000 in Ft Lauderdale with Bariatrix, FL. Most places I talked to in the US do not include preop testing. I had to have ekg, bloodwork and a psych consult, but my insurance covered all of that. My experience was wonderful.

Dr Taggar and Dr Wizman are part of Bariatrix, FL. Dr shillingford is also at the same hospital and has a great self pay price.

Dr Umbach at Blossom bariatrics in Las Vegas also has a great self pay program.

All of these will probably require a hotel room either for your companion, or a night before/after. If you truly want all inclusive, look into Mexico. At first, it sounds scary, but once you review testimonials it sounds better than the US. Plus, preop testing and hotels are normally included. Overall, it's a great option.

I have lost 36.9 since my surgery in August (51.9 total since May) I traveled for surgery, so my followup have been via Facebook live and my surgeon never asked about my weight loss.

He told me I could expect to lose 60# in a year, so I seem to be on track. It took me years to put it on, and I'm OK with it coming off slow.

Some studies say most obese people have hiatal hernias. Totally common for your surgeon to fix at the same time. Just a few stitches to tighten up the diaphragm. Feel better soon

Has anyone gotten by and been happy with less than a Tummy Tuck?
I have had an apron since 1991. Got up over 195, and even now at 137, I still have a flap that covers my hip bones, and hangs down about 3 inches. I am pretty sure there is still a lot of fat in there vs just skin. above my belly button seems ok, but I wouldn't object if it were flatter. Right now, I can wear a size 4 shorts, but I still have a pooch so I cover it with a shirt. now that it's getting hot, the rashes are coming back. ~sigh~
Obviously a full TT is the best way to get it all tight, and flat. But I'm not sure if it's bad enough for a TT, so I have been pondering if I would be ok with some Lipo. Based on pictures I've seen online, and stuff I've read, I think either a panni, mini TT or enhanced TT would be what I'm looking for. But I figured I'd consider less extreme sounding options such as lipo too.
if you had just lipo, what kind? pretty much no chance insurance will cover anything for me. I don't want to bear my stomach. no bikinis for me! I dont want a Fleur De lis either. no vertical scar. I just want to get rid of the pooch that's been left over since my C-section almost 27 years ago.
what does everyone else do? go big or go home? or think something is better than nothing?
    thanks!

Can H pylori cause an ulcer? I'm not 100% sure, but it's ringing a bell somewhere.

I like coconut rum mixed with a coconut bai. The bai has 5 calories. I also add a little sugar free davinci pineapple Syrup. I sometimes get dumping from wine.

Out of all the boards I have read, I've never seen anyone talk about skin Tightening with lasers. I'm researching PS and I've never come across a single mention of it. Is it new? Maybe it is that rare!

I had the sleeve and get dumping. Not from sugar, but from liquids, like Protein Shakes, milk and Soup. It's not all the time, and very scary and frustrating. I've almost passed out from it. I did read that bariatric patients should treat it with Protein vs carbs. Carbs will cause a rebound blood sugar issue, where protein is more stable. I now keep emergency Jerky in my purse and have felt much better.

Plenty of people appeal, but if you can swing it, check out Lindstrom obesity advocates. They help with appeals. I've not used them, just read about them.

GassyGurl got a reaction from ChellNC in How does pain compare?
My gallbladder was much worse. I asked my surgeon why, and he said short surgeries and outpatient surgeries are generally worse than inpatient and/or longer surgeries. He said with longer and inpatient, there are more or drugs they can give you, better pain control, and there is more time for the drugs to percolate through your system during surgery. For my sleeve, I was awake in recovery, was up walking and rated my pain a 2. For my gallbladder, it was like an 8. Best of luck!

I had mine done in ft Lauderdale FL for $9000 (was a special). There are several drs who are under around 11k . Bariatrix Fl is who I used. My insurance covered all preop testing. EKG, bloodwork, psych eval. I travelled on Thursday, had surgery Friday. paid for 2 nights in the hospital, however only stayed 1. Follow up in office Monday, then traveled home. Dr shillingford is another surgeon in the area that has a good self pay rate.

None of the practices where I live do the swallow test. They do a blue dye test in the OR. There is a chance you will not need it!

It's been a long while since I first posted these questions and received so many helpful answers. For my insurance to pay, I had to get to and remain at a bmi under 35 for a year. I was able to get there and remained for longer than a year (plus had to wait scheduling with two surgeons, etc.), but it's done now. HolyMotherOfPete was the pain bad. Not all the time and not the incision, seriously, all numb there, but the abdominal pressure and spasms. Coughing/sneezing are murderous for a few days. I had some complications with a few things, but also a big reaction to the bandages--blisters everywhere. Apparently, I'm allergic and didn't know it.
Anyways, as so many great people have shared theirs, I'm sharing my results.
    Thanks again to everyone.

GassyGurl got a reaction from Frustr8 in Surgical Glue.....
I've had it twice. First time, it was peeling off in less than a week. It was sloppy, and thin, but I also had stitches. 2nd time, my big incision had enough glue it could have passed as gorilla tape. This dr didn't used stitches, but did a meticulous thick glue job. I pulled it off on day 15, and it felt like torture. I felt ok pulling it off, because it had worn through right over the incision scab. Obviously it was healed and wasn't serving a purpose anymore.

I think a lot of good things have been said already, but I'll just throw in that even though I liked my surgeon a lot, I saw him one office visit pre op, 10 minutes before surgery, and never again. All my post ops have been his assistant. Maybe that'll be the case with your program? *crosses fingers*
