    May 9th buddies

I'm really enjoying the Protein2O drinks right now. It's a nice change from the thick shakes.

    May 9th buddies

My pre-op diet isn't liquid, just has to be low carb, high protein & under 800 cals a day. It's fairly easy for me, I'm really not hungry most of the time lately. Day 4/5 was the worst. I've decided that today I'll start doing all liquids though until surgery. I'd like to get down into the 230s before surgery (241 the past couple days, started at 260 before diet).

    May 9th buddies

May 9th here as well, though I have been on a pre-op diet. Only 3 more days!!!
  4. Has anyone had this or heard of anyone having it? It's basically where they do a fundoplication and then a sleeve. I've also seen it called an anti-reflux sleeve gastrectomy.
  5. I totally understand the struggle. I was a smoker for 20 years. I was prescribed Wellbutrin and honestly quit in a couple weeks. I wasn't even trying; smoking just didn't sound good anymore. It still doesn't. I've quit multiple times in my life but this was HANDS DOWN the easiest. I would recommend anyone to try it and see if the same holds true for them.

    May Sleevers?

I don't have to do liquid, but I do have to do a low cal, low fat, low carb diet for 2 weeks with protein shakes (under 800 calories/day). I start this coming Tuesday and honestly can't wait! I'm sure I'll think different a few days in. [emoji6]

    Lower Back Pain

I'm still 3 weeks before surgery, but I have the same issue and really hoping it resolves with weight loss. It's extremely hard for me to bend over or stand/walk for a long period. It's frustrating that I can't do things that someone in their mid 30's should be able to do. I haven't seen anyone about it since I always thought they would just tell me to lose weight. So hopefully we're both right and the pain will go away!

    Sipping & summer

I'm going to first say that I am a huge water drinker. I never go anywhere without my water. So during summer or workouts I'm used to drinking a lot. This has honestly been the thing I'm worried about the most after surgery. That for some reason I need more water than normal and I won't be able to get enough and get dehydrated. Especially with summer coming up and how I'm outside a lot, I worry. So especially for those of you who had this done when it's hot outside, could you manage? Will I have to stay inside more than I'm used to? Will there ever be a time when I'll be able to drink a lot at once? Any advice would be great!

    Heartburn/GERD

Thank you. That gives me hope that the meds will continue to work even if I still have it after surgery.

    Heartburn/GERD

Bypass scares me as well. I do think that the majority of my issues are food related (binging, eating before bed, spicy food), so hopefully I won't have as much of an issue. I'm also hopeful that since my meds work that they will keep on working, although I was hoping at first that the heartburn would resolve itself with losing weight.

    Heartburn/GERD

Not really. I mean, they knew the meds I was on and I guess I would think if they were worried they would have said something. I don't have another appointment until pre-op appt. 6 days before surgery.

    Heartburn/GERD

I'm just starting to look more into GERD after VSG (surgery next month). I'm seeing that about half of all sleepers have issues with it after surgery. What if you have issues with it before surgery? I'm on omeprazole (Prilosec) and have been for maybe 9 months. I had daily heartburn before and now I haven't had ANY since I've been on this med. So for people that had taken meds BEFORE surgery, do they still work afterwards?

    EKG ABNORMAL

I had odd EKGs as well (more than one). Something about my left ventricle. I had to go through a stress EKG, then a stress EKG with u/s and after that I was cleared (nothing wrong). The doc had told me that more than likely the stress EKG would turn out bad and that we would have to do the u/s one (my insurance wouldn't cover the u/s one until the other was done first). I'm also 34 and he basically knew I would be fine but you know, they have to cover their butts. This all pushed my surgery back a couple months, but I will be having it done in May. I would say to just stay on top of it. Get your appointments in sooner rather than later. Don't stress too much about it. Good luck!
