Hi all! I was sleeved on 5/24/17 also! I've hit a stall (2nd one) and I think it's due to dehydration for me. I started adding in more exercise, too. I'm going to try and reach my Water goals this week. How is everyone else doing?

Update on the Gym Anxiety -
    Gym Anxiety No More!
Here's what I did. The best thing I did was hire a great person to train me. There is a small boutique gym about a block from me in NYC that has a devoted neighborhood following. They do a variety of classes based on the instructors area of expertise.
The owners also do personal training. I invested in personal training and I was very honest about my WLS, medical history, weight history, level of activity, etc.

We started very slow - a lot at the beginning was just getting used to moving in ways I hadn't moved in a long time. He gave me simple exercises to do at home.
On Sunday I did a 6 mile hike through a park, including 20 flights of stairs (up) through the park. Not something I could have done 8 weeks ago.

Today we did the first workout where I was able to significantly up the pace. I am 25 lbs lighter than when I started and without question stronger and with more stamina, flexibility and ease of movement.
I am almost certain without the personal training I probably would have ignorantly injured myself because of my cluelessness. It has been the best investment ever, even though it was a financial strain that financial strain would have been nothing compared to screwing up my joints or back.
I know for other people this may not be a big deal, but it was one of those demons and every time I slay a demon more is possible.
Tomorrow is class and Sunday is a 5 mile hike through urban hills and stairs!

When trying to decide if you want to join a gym, the most important thing is to be honest with yourself about why you are going. Do you want to go to the gym because that's what you're "supposed" to do? Let's go over some of the reasons to join a gym:
Duh, once you have the surgery, you are supposed to go to the gym in order to exercise and lose weight. Actually, diet is what is going to allow you to lose the weight. The extra movement of course will help, but exercise is more about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I want to avoid saggy skin and I heard that exercising will help the skin go back to a young 20 something hard bodies skin! Sorry, the only way to get tight skin is to either back fill with a metric ****-ton of muscle or plastic surgery. Some people on here look fantastic in their pictures, but unless they had surgery they are going to have scars, stretch marks, or saggy skin. I want to get out of my comfort zone and maybe make some new friends. Actually, this is a great reason to go to the gym. As long as it doesn't become the sole reason for your attendance. Zumba, yoga, pilates, elipticals... all of these things made us self concious because of bouncing fat or hanging bellies. Now we will be able to participate in these activities and will see the results very quickly. It is an intoxicating experience. Believe me. I want to gain endurance. I'm tired of being tired walking up a flight of stairs. Another good reason to start going to the gym! After just a few pounds lost, you will be amazed at how much less winded you will be. I want to get strong. This is me. I had so many stupid injuries in my past that I wanted to do it right this time. In regards to personal trainers, allow me to quote myself:
So yeah... not a fan of them.
I know the weight room can be intimidating. Especially for women. Meatheads are assholes to new guys and they are absolute insufferable to women. They will mock the new members trying to get into shape and the leer at the ones that are attractive. I know I had to deal with it in the beginning when I was working with 10lbs dumbells. Of course, now that I am bench pressing more than these guys can deadlift they don't have much to say.
The best thing you can do for yourself at the gym is to have a plan. Read, research, question, and read some more. Don't believe something on the internet. If you want to become the cardio queen, go to a bookstore and buy a book on running. That will at least have to have had a proof reader and more than likely a fact checker. Forums are a poor source of information. If you are wanting to get into weightlifting, go to the book store and look for Starting Strength or The Barbell Prescription. The latter is my preferred book. Starting Strength is the bible for strength training, but it is fairly rigid and assumes you want to become a power lifter. Barbell Prescription is about how it can improve your life.
I'm getting a little longwinded here. If you have a specific set of questions, go ahead and post them and tag me in the post so I know you want more input.

I think that is one of those surgeon specific things, I read articles that it doesn't cause any issues. I think it's just up to how your individual doctor recommended and your own body reacts to it.

I don't see anything wrong with it! I sometimes do a skinny mocha or skinny iced cinnamon dolce. I just wouldn't make it a regular thing, even the fake sugar is not great for you.

Sleeved May 24th. Before I went into hospital, I made a batch of homemade chicken broth and froze them in ice cube trays and just made it convenient. Each chicken broth cube is one ounce. My dr. said no Protein Shakes only clear Protein isolate the first week. So what helped is about a month out I started testing out clear protein isolate drinks. And then stocked up on the ones I liked. I made lots sf Jello and stocked up on lots of sf pop sickles. I'm still not allowed fruits or veggies, which I can't wait to eat. Also my doctor said no greek yogurt which I absolutely love.

My husband had rny 11 years ago. Spaghetti still bothers him sometimes- at first he couldn't eat it at all for the same reason. I was sleeved 3 weeks ago too and I'm thinking Pasta maybe one of those things that are off limits like soda:
I too cheated yesterday and ate a small slice of pizza. I chewed the heck out of it and I didn't get sick. I emotionally feel bad- I had been totally low carb and now I feel like I blew it. I'm back in the wagon today!
I kept my calories under 600 for the day which is the highest say so far. I just saw the slippery slip that it took me to. Feeling angry with myself. I wasn't even that hungry, it just looked so good!

We just have to stay on plan and stay patient.

I stalled for about 2 weeks so I understand your frustration. Dehydration does it for me and I retain Water really easily.

This is something you should be asking your surgeon and not strangers on an internet forum. We've got people here that eat crispy bacon or fried chicken on the way home from the hospital for gods sake!
Seriously though; you trusted them enough to cut into you, trust them if they tell you to avoid caffeine. Me personally, I cannot remember how long it was after surgery that I was allowed coffee again, but I do remember the awful heartburn it caused at first.

Sorry I can't relate, I'm a rule follower especially when it come to this surgery stuff. I don't know what the repercussions are, maybe dumping or maybe the labs might show that she's not following the rules and doctor might chew her out? That's what I'm worried about since I'm scared s**t of my doctor. lol

Sleeved May 24. I tried an unflavored clear Protein isolate and I couldn't take it.. The last couple of days Ive been drinking ISO100 blue raspberry and I added some sf crystal light to take the edge off over ice is very delish. I still have home made broth everyday, it don't mix anything in it.

I like the GENEPRO unflavored Protein Powder (available at GNC or Amazon). Adds 30 grams of Protein to your food. I put it in Soup, oatmeal, mashed cauliflower, Crystal Light and I just discovered putting it in Propel Water. Has a slight odor but overall very good!
