I feel like I am a true "slow loser" and it has been tough. I'm 3.5 years out (as of yesterday!) and still dinging away at the daily grind. I started out with a lot of weight to lose, and never lost more than 5 pounds in a single week after the 3rd month or so. Even today my current weight after losing 100 pounds is more than some people's pre-op starting weight - crazy! But my journey is my own and I'm not giving up just because it's been rough. I wanted to get healthier and I know I already am, even if I'm still struggling to my personal goal.
Back in the early days when I was more active on this web site, people would post about losing 8 to 10 pounds a week, every week - I could only dream of such a thing. Now that I'm this far out, it frequently feels like I never had surgery at all - it's a distant memory to me now - and each day I just work on sticking with my eating plan, staying within my calorie limit per my metabolic testing, and getting at least 2 shakes down per day to keep my Protein numbers where they need to be. I'm just another person trying to get healthy and all I can do is keep on with my plan.

Waving my hands wildly here! I am 2 1/2 years post surgery. After my initial 70 lb weight loss (took over a year), I have gained back almost 30. I never made it to below 200 either. I have just joined weight watchers again to help motivate me and help keep me accountable. I need to lose 70 - 80 more pounds to get to my personal goal weight and I'm tired of my knees and back hurting.
This is real life so I'm just going to regroup and start again.

Very interested in knowing your surgical teams reason for being so adamant about a shaved vagina for an abdominal surgery. I am an RN and have never heard of or seen that.

I know this post is old but I am about to get gastric sleeve on May 10 and I am also HIV positive. I actually didnt find out until I got sick with PCP and not only found out I was positive but I had already progressed to AIDS. Weeks before my 30th birthday. Dont feel ashamed I know its hard theres stigma and such but only god can judge us! I am a licensed psychotherapist in the state of Texas so I was able to deal with the issues by getting myself into counseling (counselors sometimes need counselors just like anyone else) and am not worried because Triumeq has brought me back to being Undetectable and my CD4 went from 99 to 749 in 2 years. So I wanted to know if you actually crushed Triumeq because from what I understand the one a pill a day meds that have 3 different medications and are time released for the 24 hours cannot and should not be crushed. Did you get a clear answer and if you did can you please let me know it and how it worked out for you please?

    keep ya head up!

Before I had surgery people I knew that were obese all their lives were losing lots of weight. A natural reaction is Wow you look good what are you doing to lose the weight? About 75% of them were honest with me and I appreciate that cause it gave me the courage to have weight loss surgery.... Those that didn't share I am OK with that too but they loved all the compliments and attention received by people as they stood before us lying about how they loss weight that part I just can't respect......i'd rather them to say thanks for the compliment but it's a personal issue I don't want to discuss. I myself never lied because I knew I was having surgery to please me, myself and I and it didn't matter to me how anyone felt. To me it was a blessing I received that I could share with others and a blessing like this surgery I definitely wasn't hiding from anyone.... People talk about you if you obese and they talk about you when you losing weight sssooo what's the difference? Negative talk either way....To Be Honest Most People Know You Lying Anyway If You Suddenly Start Losing A Lot Of Weight And You Saying Oooh just eating right and exercising. Uummm All Of A Sudden You Can Lose Weight All On Your Own?? Then you walk away and that's when the laughing, snickering and talking about you start because of you lying in people faces when they know better... Just say I really don't want to talk about it.

I wouldn't wait that is only prolonging the surgery that is surely to happen anyway. I had to be cleared by the Cardiologist before insurance would even approved the surgery..... However if you not comfortable about it you have to do what feels right for you.

I lost 50 pounds and one of my co workers said you looking good with your weight loss! Another CO workers said I don't see a difference.... I said to the one that complimented me thanks for the compliment to the other one I said maybe you'll notice when I lose 50 more cause everyone see differently as I was smiling at her....she looked puzzled uuum I don't get mad about shit like that I hope she was trying to steal my joy cause she didn't. What she didn't know is before weight loss I always had high self esteem when I entered a room I always felt like I was one of the prettiest women in the room.....Always hair looking good, smelling good, nice outfit and my smile get them everytime...

if it's any consolation, I've heard some people claim that a few months after they hit their lowest weight, the fat sort of redistributes a bit and they start looking better - although I don't know if it's true for *everyone*.

You can't expect to be perfect all the time. Acknowledge the slip up, learn from it, and start fresh. This is a tool. You still have to work out your inner demons to be successful. All of us have been using food as a crutch, which is how we got to this place, and now your crutch has been taken away. The demons remain and you have to find a new way to deal with them.
Take a deep breath, reflect on what you were feeling when you started reaching for poor food choices, resolve to make better decisions RIGHT NOW, and go for a walk or hit the gym today. Face those demons head on.
I agree with @@defibvt's advice to restart the preop diet and move forward again.
