yeah the 4 weeks post op are going to suck bad. Not gonna lie. But once you get to the point where you can take in a lot of Water and get past that wretched liquid and puree stage you should be golden. My BP was 125/80 last check up. No more snoring either.
The first time i ate rotisserie chicken I was almost aroused since i was eating actual food. -
My doctor told me to wait for 4 months, and then that i needed to live my life. SO i am able to drink wine, and whiskey with 15 calorie minute maid juices, (lemonade, fruite punch, or mango passionfruit) with no issue. The biggest hurdle for me was giving up beer, because i LOVED it. But i got over that. I have had a few beers over the last couple months, but its very filling so cant do much. Wine or whisky you can pretty much drink however much i want.
She told me that it would be difficult to never drink again if you did before and are around people that do. And to be honest, now it takes maybe four drinks ( i mix a shot and a half with about 24 ounces of juice, so i get very hydrated), or 2-3 glasses of wine and thats all i need.

She told me to start 30 days out. So for the most part i went like this:
Monday - Friday i made homemade choc Protein Powder smoothie with skim milk and cold brew coffe and crushed ice.
Somedays i would have liquid diet for lunch but not always if i was hungry.
I would have a sensible dinner with some kind of grilled meat and a green veggie
Sat - Sun i ate whatever the f*** i wanted, and drank alcohol.
I lost 12 pounds doing that.
Day before surgery I had a bowl of Pasta, my kryptonite.
Doctor said my liver looked fine and surgery went great. And since surgery iv lost over 50 pounds because i just cant eat very much. 6 months out i can eat pretty much anything i want, i just dont eat much of it. But i still try to eat sensible monday through friday and the scale keeps dropping 2-3 pounds a week.AskingForAFriend and SewAmbitious reacted to this -
Its funny how the doctors differ. My surgeon was the most straight up blunt doctor Ive ever had. She said while the prop diet CAN be used to shrink livers in extreme cases, the real purpose of the preop diet was to get you used to eating less. She told me to try to have at least one liquid meal er day, but if i could do more go for it. She saidnot to starve myself and the key thing was dont eat 24-36 hours prior to surgery.

I gave up chicken breast because it felt like a stone. Boneless skinless chicken thighs soaked overnight in teriyaki and grilled work well for me. Or I can eat a couple chicken tenders from chic fil a or wherever if I chew them thoroughly.
For steak my best best is thin cut ribeye at just one minute per side on grill. Or a mid rare filet. Sirloin and ny strip don’t work well.

Great results. I was done 5/17 and down 63. I think my wine consumption slowed down my loss lately.

my surgeon told me to stick to the preop liquid diet as close as i could, but it was ok to eat a solid meal if i really wanted it. She also said i could eat a final mean the day before surgery so long as it was at least 12 hours before surgery and i drank some Water the morning of. I had a delicious bowl of Pasta the night before surgery.
Overall by sticking to liquid meals at least 2 out of 3 means per day i was able to lose 12 pounds in the two weeks leading up to surgery.WillPowerPrincess, SeaSounders♥ and confusedturtle3 reacted to this -
when i got to soft food stage i made a Soup out of rotisserie chicken, chicken broth and some soft veggies and it was probably the best thing i ever tasted....i was so sick of liquid diet.

I used and still use either sprouts brand or the Orgain chocolate powders. Not too sweet at all.
Use two scoops of that, with 8 ounces crushed ice and 8 ounces skim milk (kroger carb master) and you get a whopping 30 grams or more.
its also good if you mix some cold brew coffee in with that.Hannah83, belinda401 and Rose400491 reacted to this -

Thats why i went straight to Protein powders like sprouts brand chocolate, VEGA, or Orgain mixed with skim and coffee. THos bottled up ones are disgusting. too friggin sweet. the ones i mentioned are very smooth when blended. They gave me an ensure in the hospital and i was wondering how effin old you would have to be to not notice how gross that thing was.
