Quorn is vegetarian, at least the ones sold in the US. Some products do contain milk and egg. But all products are safe for vegetarians. The vegan products have even been accredited by the Vegan Society.

You should try Quorn products. Soy free and gluten free vegetarian sources of protein. They are mushroom based protein - but they don't taste like mushrooms I swear! The Turk'y roast is my favorite - beats a tofurkey any day. I even got my meat eating father to eat it more than once. The Turk'y roast has 100 calories, 13 gr protein and 0.5 gr sugar per serving. And the serving is larger than you would think.

I'm sorry you are feeling out of control with your weight.
Set up an appointment with your surgeons office. Get their opinion if you have stretched your stomach. They can help you get back on track. Another option to consider is counseling/therapy. It will help address your mindset with weight loss.
food choices and grazing will cause significant weight gain.
Grazing is the consistent, day-long consumption of low value food items, in other words: snacking. For example, mindlessly finishing your child’s Breakfast Cereal, stopping at mcdonalds, popping two donut holes into your mouth at the office, eating a Protein Bar mid-afternoon and a strawberry Greek yogurt with granola at night.
The best way to address grazing after bariatric surgery is to employ preventive measures prior to the onset. That said, many patients will not succeed preemptively and must therefore deal with the problem of grazing only after it presents.
Should you find yourself in the habit of grazing after bariatric surgery, the obvious resolution is to break the habit. This is no doubt easier said than done, but consider all that you have achieved to this point.
The first step is to ask for help. It is unlikely that you can resolve your maladaptive eating alone. So simply ask for the help. Use your support network and those professionals who are currently among your inner circle.
Begin to monitor yourself closely. Write down or log your food in MYFITNESSPAL all that you eat or drink for a period of three days or so, and then compare your notes with the nutrition plan from your bariatric surgeon’s office to note how much they do or do not correlate.
Learn the different types of hunger, specifically head, eating out of boredom and physical hunger.
In addition, cut out all junk food. Sit when you eat, and mindfully enjoy the meal. Eat meals that contain Protein and Fiber in the form of fresh and lightly cooked or raw fruits and vegetables because they make you feel full. Drink plenty of Water over the course of the day except at meal time.
    WIshing you the best,
    Jenn

I use this lab online called Healthcheck USA where you don't need a doctor's order to get labwork done. You order, pay online, then they send you an order to go have your blood drawn at a local lab. I use Quest Labs here to do the draws. I self pay for my cancer levels cuz my onc doesn't believe in them. I save a WAD of money.

Dr Dietrick in Tampa. Paid $14,500 for the sleeve. He has a payment plan for his portion of the fee (about $5k) but I paid all at once. Stayed in the hospital one night. I was able to get my insurance to cover the pre-op bloodwork and the EKG though by visiting my primary care doc and having her order them. She made sure not to say they were for pre-op (we were worried insurance would deny it then). Surgeon was excellent. My surgery got cancelled because of the hurricane but he cancelled his vacation the following week so he could take care of the patients like me who had missed their dates.
I am 5 months out and had to get my post op bloodwork two months ago. Tried to fool insurance again but since the tests were all for Vitamin deficiencies it was pretty obvious it was for post bariatric surgery testing. It was all denied. Ended up costing me $1200. That was a cost the doctor did not prepare me for. Luckily I don't have to get tested again since my levels were all ok.

    Hello all!
Will hit the one month mark in a couple of days. Back at work on the road. Was worried about nutrition. Brought a bag of emergency rations with me. Canned tuna snack packs, Slimfast, Protein rich dry Soup. Have had scrambled eggs at Breakfast in hotel, salmon for lunch and canned tuna for dinner in room. Not hungry but having to force myself to drink Water. I forget. Bought 2 32oz bottles of water for each day so I get it in.
Also trying to walk while traveling but look forward to going to the gym!

I'm currently walking about 4.5 miles a day, constantly going up and down stairs so I'm pretty active! As far as my eating intake, I'm still struggling with my intake I recognize I'm not eating enough! I do find that I'm able to have a good hearty Breakfast without any issue once lunch time and Snacks come around I can't do it! I've been drink my Water, my doc has keep me off dairy but not I have been able to tolerate again! I haven't had a Protein Shake in about 2wks! Can this be the cause of my "stall" not enough Protein? I see everyone dropping the pounds and I'm starting to feel a sense of regret! I'm doing everything possible I know everyone is different just thought I would lose it much faster! Although I do see inches coming off!

    Hi All,
Was just released to all activities and normal food today. Hit a stall at 4 weeks but just kept working the plan. Down 43 pounds in total. I feel good most of the time but do get a little tired after walks. Of course I am in Florida and it was hot until this week. Enjoyed Chic-Fil-A grilled nuggets for lunch today with a little applesauce. Food is not driving me right now. I just work on Proteins and 64oz of Water every day. Water is tough to get in!
    Hope everyone is doing well.

I understand how you feel after my 1st big weight drop I got it in my head that it should always be that way, but to my dismay it is not, reality check. DON'T weigh yourself all the time you will get depressed...i now weigh myself maybe once a week or every other week. Now I see a difference, small but it's there.

I had terrible shoulder and chest pain the first week too. Doc said it was gas related and I had to walk more. I don’t know if walking helped but I did it and the pain subsided after the first week.

I'm 3 weeks post op and feeling great. Yesterday was the first day I had no pain at all in my main incision site. I'm able to sleep on my sides now(thankfully!) and feeling pretty good. I do have to remember to still be careful with moving or twisting too much because by the end of the day I will feel some pain/pull like in my lower stomach. I feel like I can almost eat anything in my phase1, moving to phase 2 today. I'm a little nervous for fear that I will start gaining weight. I do get a little full sometimes and do slow down with eating or drinking when this happens. But hoping for the best! People at work are starting to notice my weight loss. I've lost 27 pounds since 2 weeks before surgery.

I am 9 days post op! Doing pretty good up to walking about 35-45 min and cleaning around house. Not really needing the pain meds but my emotions are going nuts like postpartum! Indecision are itchy but healing. I have lost 14 lbs so far and hope it continues! The main problem is my belly sticks way way out now and I'm sure it will go in it's only been a week but hard to sit. Anyway , just started purer food yesterday! Made a BIG mistake drinking one tiny tiny sip with my 1/2 oz of blended egg! Nope!!! Do Not Do That!!! So just taking it slow and easy. Getting antsy but overall upbeat!!

When it comes to not having a recliner I took six pillows and staggered them on my bed so that I can recline back and sleep that was the only way I could sleep you might want to try that if you have six pillows

Oh, I feel for both of u. I feel the exact same way and@ready2live! broke down perfectly the thoughts that are going thru my head. Hell, I'm 3 weeks out and only down 13lbs. I too thought I would lose a good amount of weight relatively quickly, as I am also following my plan to the letter. But alas, I guess my body's on its own timetable. Discouraging as hell too! Makes me doubt my decision daily.
And people keep saying not to worry, don't get discouraged, chill out the lbs will come off, etc, etc. I really hope they're right...

I'm 5 days out and have only lost 1lb. I'm a bigger girl (369 day of surgery) so I expected to lose quickly early on. I also didn't lose much during preopt though I followed it to the letter. There is this fear that you will have done all of this and still not lose. I realize it is still very early so I am trying to give the process time. But I do understand your disappointment. It seems the early losses are what motivate people to get through these tough early days. We will just have to stick it out- we've already come this far!

Ok, I'm responding without having read the other responses.
If you lose the same as the average patient postop, you will get to 183lbs. That's only 21 more pounds. If you lose a pound a week, you'll have reached goal by 6 months postop! I personally think you'll do better than average... but you're right on track.

My doctor wants me to loose 8 pounds a month which is close to what you are loosing and if you think about it 6 pounds a month times 3 months it's still 18 pounds down. A loss is a loss hang in there and keep going at it!!!!

    Hello
Also try taking your measurements because what you don't see lost in pounds could be in inches. Good on your journey.

I had my 1 month post op appt. yesterday and told my Dr. I've been so hungry! He said I've got to take in more Protein (shakes!) I was barely getting two is daily, and he said I need to be getting 90g of protein daily, where I was probably only getting about 60 g on a good day. I was also very sleepy in the evenings, and again he said Protein shakes! So, I've done that today and actually it has helped.

Hi! Thanks for responding. You're right. I had a long stall at 3 weeks and it only broke last week. It was so weird b/c I stayed the EXACT same weight for over 2.5 weeks. That sucked too. This is so much harder than I thought it would be. Thank you for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.
