  1. Oh this is a good topic! I usually prepare meals. But I told my husband that for the first two weeks (at least), I will not be preparing meals and I will not be sitting with the family while they eat. After I start on soft foods, I may start prepping meals again. I think it depends on how hungry I am. If I am ravenous, then I don't want to be near temptation and I will not cook. If the surgery really makes you not care about food (sure hope so), then I will probably start cooking. I've already told them it's going to be healthier food. Going to stop keeping dessert in the house, etc. They hate me already

    Liver Shrinking Diet

Two weeks for me and I have a lower BMI already (38). Up to 24 ounces of protein shakes plus one meal of 4 oz protein and half cup of veggies. I am adding in two raw veggie snacks throughout the day so I don't kill any innocent people.

    Surgery Friday!

Go to "Patients" then "My Surgery". It is well hidden!

Travelling at 6 weeks post op - need tips

Yes, I forgot about the yogurt! I will find a grocery store before I get to the hotel...
  5. Hi everyone! Getting sleeved in September and flying for work 6 weeks later. I already know the advice about walking on the plane to avoid blood clots. What other tips do you have? Thank you!

Travelling at 6 weeks post op - need tips

There will be at least one obligatory business dinner. To make things more difficult, I am vegetarian so I can't just order grilled chicken. I may have to feign not feeling well to get out of it The social drinking is a very good point. I didn't drink much before so I was used to turning down drinks already. I should be in soft food stage when I travel. Are protein bars OK? Figure I can pack those and use them as a back up if I can't find things on menu.

I never thought about a small Ninja blender. That's a great idea! Have a wonderful vacation!
  8. Being able to wear my wedding ring (or even the substitute rings I've bought over the years long after my original ring did not fit). My dear SIL asked me months ago how I kept the male attention at bay without my wedding ring. I just uncomfortably chuckled, too ashamed to tell everyone it hasn't fit me in years.

    Surgery Friday!

Good luck to you! And let us know how it goes!
  10. September 11th here - having it done by Dr. Dietrick in Tampa. I am self pay, so I feel like my bank account has already had the surgery

    Sh*t's about to get real!

It's so good to hear that other people had the "should I do it, should I not do it" feeling! I felt like it was really hard to make up my mind. I thought I was the only one!

    Pre-Op drinks

Have you tried the protein hot chocolate they sell online? Or maybe the fruit flavored protein drinks (they look like crystal light but with protein)? Of course, this would be bought online, so I'm not sure you'd have time to get them before your surgery. Is there another broth you could try? You might be able to buy chicken noodle soup and just strain out the solid pieces.

Have you started preparing for surgery?

I don't have any proof, but I think my problem has been all the yo-yo dieting and the havoc it has wreaked on my metabolism. I'm really hoping the sleeve doesn't negatively impact my metabolism.
  14. Oh my goodness, yes on the bras! If men love big boobs so much, we should have our larger bras subsidized IMO. Ha!
  15. No sweating my butt off from carrying around this extra weight.
  16. Hi Pkusmc! I am getting sleeved by Dr. Dietrick in September. It's so reassuring to hear a good review! You are looking awesome!
  17. I'm researching Dr. Jessee as well. I am self pay too. Can I ask how much Dr. Jessee charged for the self pay sleeve?
