I converted 5 weeks ago. To me the pain was comparable, and as far as incisions go, the only site that really hurt was the one where they had to dig out my port. I took exactly one pain pill the day I got home and never needed anything except the occasional dose of liquid Tylenol after.
As far as recovery period goes, I am still tired and foggy from the surgery. I was back to work in 2 weeks after the Band, but it took me a month to get back after the sleeve. It was not due to pain, just being tired/weak. I could have gone back to work after 2 weeks if needed.

Well I probably won't be a ton of help. But I revised from the band to sleeve on Monday. So far I think the pain has been pretty comparable. With the band I took pain meds the first 2 days and just once on day 3 mostly due to TOM. This time I was in the hospital for 2 days post op. I think the last time I asked for pain meds is early Tuesday morning. I did have a lot of nausea post op with the sleeve. I was only supposed to stay one night, but I could barely drink anything without feeling very nauseas. I did not have nausea after the band. And I did vomit a few times in post op recovery too.
I t is definitely harder to get fluids down . I currently feel like I constantly have something stuck in the back of my throat. I've been doing better drinking at home than I was doing in the hospital.
My surgeon did not send me home with any pain meds (which I was surprised at, but didn't really need). And told me if I'm in pain to take Motrin or Tylenol. I do have a little of pain getting up and down, especially in and out of bed, but it's self limiting, so I wouldn't have taken meds for that anyways

I'm the black sheep here. Had surgery Friday 2/17 and we had Monday off and went back to work by Tuesday 2/21. I'm a teacher and took half days for the first week and as of 2/28 I started full days again. My energy is pretty high for some reason. I feel no pain just still cautious of my stomach and staying away from the tight hugs from the kiddos! Good luck to you!

I went for my pre-op today and they decide to play the money card.. I was taken back of the amount that was quoted differently than first. So the lady asked me .. do you still want to do it! It took everything that I had to tell her that I've come to far and will do what I have to do to make this happen. My heart rate was trying to come up and then a still small voice came over me (The Lord) and said trust. Pre-op [emoji818]️ pre op diet.. Thursday and surgery March 7! I need some March cheerleaders to help me/us stay focused on this new life GOAL! Ain't no stopping us now ...

I took off 6 weeks after my surgery. This allowed me to recover physically, progress through the majority of the food stages, and adjust to post-op life. I am so glad that I did it. Just keeping up with the Protein and Water requirements in the early days is a full-time job, and I could never have done as well with it as I did had I gone back to work any sooner.
The bottom line is that I would take off for as long as your financial, work, and personal situations will allow.
    Good luck!

Nope, you can't pick up more than 10 pounds the first 2-3 weeks. then after that you can't pick up more than 20 for another 2 weeks. The time-off post surgery is about a month, but i would let your body tell you if you should go back to work or not depending on how you feel!

Hello!! I'm new to this site. In 2008 ,I had the lap band, lost some weight and have gained it back. I am having a revision to the sleeve and was wondering what is the downtime. I work in a clinic , where I walk a lot and have to pick up things up to 30 lbs. I was thinking of two weeks off should be more than enough. Thoughts please, thanks in advance!!
