  1. No. Do I have to go back to my surgeon for that? It cost me a fortune so I can't afford further surgey. I really feel for you if you're hungry all the time. That's what I was like pre-op. All. Day. It was torture. I do get hungry now but it's not that 'throat cut' hunger that I used to get.
  2. Hi everyone, I'm not usually very good at linking in on forums and other online communities, but I've logged in today for the first time since my roux en y bypass 3 years ago to see if there's anyone that has or is experiencing the same as me. For the first time, I have put on weight and I am so disappointed in myself for letting myself go. I had phenomenal success following my op - I lost around half my body weight: Reducing from 23st 5lbs (327lbs) to 11st 5lbs (159lbs) over 18 months and actually had to eat quite a lot, albeit little and often, in order to keep my weight stable. Since the coronavirus lockdown however I have been non-stop eating and as a result have gained a stone (14lbs). I'm 12at 5lbs (173lbs) now and my clothes are too tight. I can eat normal sized meals and constantly snack. Basically, once whatever I've eaten has digested I'm eating something else. I'm really worried I've stretched my pouch. Can going on a diet cause it to shrink back at all, even just a little? I'm considering a keto diet because I do like high protein and high fat (I'm crazy for butter!). All responses are welcome. Thank you 😊
  3. Just eaten my scrambled egg too quickly and I've thrown up. I've got to eat slowly! Also, a whole egg and a bit of cheese is still a bit too big for my stomach pouch at the moment - I've got to look at food and have an idea of what volume I'm going to be able to manage. Later on, like 6 months or something - does the pouch expand at all?
  4. Thank you Sajijoma, that's good to know. I've bought some ready-made mashed potato and ready-made mashed carrots and swede - I'm going to portion them into the little baby food prep bowls tomorrow. I will be able to just eat those as they are - I won't need to further blend them will I? What do you eat with the cottage cheese? I like cottage cheese but usually have it with salad. I cannot wait to eat 'real food' again. I'm ok with the fact I'll be having tiny portions - it's just the variety I'm missing at the moment.

    Scared of Surgery

I was really scared before my surgery! I prepared myself for all sorts in case anything went wrong. Personally I think that is important, for taking responsibility for what you are doing and why. I cried periodically for a fortnight leading up to the op, and at the hospital on the morning of the op. That was a fortnight ago now, and looking back I think it was good that I was nervous/scared - it's a big deal getting this done and nobody should take it lightly.
  6. I'm 2 weeks post op. If I had the pain that you're describing I'd get myself checked out asap. It may not be anything to worry about, but it's best to get a doctor to see you to be sure. If you had your op privately, do you have a post-op package? I've got a fantastic package with Tonic which includes contact with a bariatric nurse who I can phone any time. If you have anything similar, contact them.
  7. Finally!! I'm about to start the pureed diet after what feels like a very long 2 weeks on liquids only. Has anyone got any tips or recipes? Although I'm excited, I'm also a bit nervous because I don't know if I'm going to feel bloated or pain or anything - I'd be glad to hear of others' experiences, positive or not. Thanks
  8. Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm now sleeping flat! I've tried sleeping on my side supported by pillows but that just aint happening yet!
  9. I'm just a week post-op and I am really struggling to get enough liquid down me. I too am sick of the sweet protein shakes, but unfortunately for me I've tried broths and thinned soups and they taste revolting to me now (whereas before I'd always enjoyed soups). I'm also just about getting 75cl of water down me per day (that's one of those medium Evian or Volvic water bottles with the sports cap). Thinking about taking more in really turns on me. I too don't know what to do!

    Sick of sweet

  11. Yeah I hope I get to sleep better soon too! Thanks for the replies - it's good to know how other people are getting on.
  12. Thanks for replying guys. I thought I wasn't sleeping because I was sitting up but I tried lying down flat last night and couldn't do it - I was just to uncomfortable. I'm definitely lying more flat that I was, but with loads of pillows around me. Am I right in thinking that this uncomfortable 'jelly-like' feeling in my belly will get better in time? I'm used to sleeping on my side but there is absolutely no way I can manage that at the moment.
  13. How soon after gastric bypass surgery can I lie down flat in bed to sleep? My back/coccyx hurts when I sit up to sleep. My surgery was 5 days ago. Thanks
