    Hi All,
As I come upon my 1-year post-op, I am filled with an immense amount of joy and excitement. This year has been a rollercoaster ride that has broken me down and rebuilt me at the same time. Like a Pheonix, I rose from the ashes of the despair and discouragement that came with having to create and learn a new way of living. I did not understand just how deeply rooted my emotions were in eating and how junk food had made me feel alive when I felt like I was dying and eating my life away. I have met most goals but have not met all. I have had to change goals or adapt to new situations with my body.
    Goals I Didn't Meet:
    1) I did not reach my initial goal weight of 160lbs
That is it!!! That is the only goal I did not meet!!
    Goals I Did Meet:
    1) Lost over 50lbs
    2) Gained Confidence
    3) Kept giving the Gym my all (4 - 5 days a week)
    4) Got under 200lbs
    5) Got down to a size 12 (This size is actually getting to be too big now. Soon I will be a 10)
    6) Stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things without fear
    7) Changed my body's composition and stamina.
    NEW Goals:
    1) Reach 180lbs
    2) Reduce the amount of fat in my stomach
    3) Run a 5K
    4) Keep this lifestyle that I have worked soo hard for
    5) NEVER GIVE UP and STAY PATIENT
I hope to have another amazing year of changes, challenges and reaching new heights.
I really appreciate this group and it has been amazing to be apart of a community soo diverse in its personalities and struggles.
Just remember, it takes Time and Patience. We will not reach every goal in 1-year but what we do achieve will allow us more years to enjoy life.

There is nothing wrong with you. Try the following:
    1) Tracking your Calories and Macros (Fat, Carbs, Protein):
Carbs - 25g Fat - 35g Protein - 135g 2) Increase your vegetable intake with no starchy vegetables (Cucumbers, Spinach, Kale, Broccoli, Tomatoes, Lettuce)
    3) Drink 64 oz of Water. (When you feel hunger, drink 8 oz of Tea)
    4) Be mindful that it may be head hunger and physical hunger. (This is where the tea will help).

I cut all of my hair off after a while. It was coming out in huge clumps. My scalp would be sore from the hair coming out and trying to brush it. At this point, my hair has stopped falling out and it is growing back very strong and healthy.

My hair started falling out about 6 months out. It started out in larger amounts than normal. Then it started to come out in large amounts to the point my scalp was sore after brushing my hair. I would suggest making sure that you reach your Protein goals and taking your Biotin.

Increasing vegetables can fill you up. I would oftentimes put a little virgin olive oil in a frying pan with broken up cauliflower, seasoned with a spice and fry it until it was soft and slightly crunchy.

Are you keeping a journal of what you are eating? If not you should. The journal could tell you howuch Protein, carbs, fiber, .... You are getting.

I use an app called MyFitnessPal. It has a desktop/web version. The app can use a smartphone to scan a foods barcode in, and it will 99% be accurate. Also has a search function for it's databases. You enter your serving size. Also tracks Water, weight and physical dimensions. FREE. Paid version let you customize meals and goals.

I just discussed this with my RD. And she suggested what @Sleeve1stFitNext said. She said introduce texture and Fiber while keeping your quantities normal for your time frame of surgery and food progression.
Mine is supposed to be 1/2c volume. She said right now for me it's volume. At 2 months, you may be by weight. But instead of soft foods, go for normal food textures. Take the tiny bites, track everything, eat slowly, chew like hell, don't add liquids until your pouch is empty.
It's made all the diff in the world with satiety and portion control! Hope it helps!

It is that liquid moves a lot easier down. However, you should not be drinking that much that fast. You are still healing. However, you will find that once you start eating soft and regular foods, you will feel hungry faster with less food.

Unfortunately, we have to change our relationship with food. This will happen over the course of the year.
I used to use junk food to comfort me. It was my go to when I was in my feelings. Every now and again, I want to just binge but I do not. I hit the gym instead.
I now view food as a source to energize my body, to help me achieve my workout goals. By doing that, I have a better control over my relationship with it.
Now Eat to Live and Live to Eat.

    Music improves your workout.
Listening to music while exercising can improve workout performance by 15%. That means that the hype playlist that you have while everyone is popping **** about your taste in music, want help you burn upwards to an additional 1 - 3 calories per minute. Which is helpful because I am now able to burn like 12 calories a minute to maximize my workout time.

Welcome, ask away, I guarantee there will always be someone who has been through it, had it happen or at least done extensive research on any subject. Don't be concerned about your age, many on here much older, I myself am 72, so old enough to be your mother and I'm going through surgery myself. Youngest, maybe 18, we are worldwide and we all went you to have the best experience possible.

Oh yeah, I was annoyed for a long time. I was frustrated, irritated and easily aggravated. Once I started hitting the gym before work, that has changed. I get the energy out and then I just learned to ignore them. I have not desire to have many conversations anymore as I am thinking about what my next workout will be.

Sleeve1stFitNext got a reaction from Astarisborn in Approved, no letter?
This is the case. I was approved without a letter in the mail. They send the Approval information to your surgeon. If you want the letter, you can ask your surgeon for a copy. UHC tends to try and cut back on the amount of paperwork that they need to do. I have had 2 surgeries while being insured by them and have never received a single approval letter. It is not something that they concern themselves with. They figure that your surgeon will provide you with all the details if you request that they do. I would not concern myself with not getting an approval letter, as long as your surgeon has it, you are fine.

Due to your line of work. You may need about 4 - 6 weeks. Surgeons usually do not suggest lifting anything heavy prior to that time and to gradually get your stamina and muscle strength back up after surgery.
Also, you have a small child and that will require a lot of binding over and lifting. I would suggest staying away from work for the 4 - 6 weeks because you cannot stay away from being a mom.
