    United Health Care Insurance

I had to do mines with my bra off. They said the underwire would affect the test. My technician was a female.
  5. It is possible to stretch your sleeve, but that is usually once it has healed and about years out. However, some people are able to drink or eat more than others due to the size of their sleeve. Not everyone's sleeve is the same size. One week out, I could only drink water at 2oz a time. However, now I can drink about 6oz a time without a problem. However, food is different. I would suggest following your nurse's orders as you are still fresh out of surgery. Do not push yourself because the worst thing that can happen is damage to your staple line.

UHC: About how long did it take for approval?

UHC typically takes 1 - 2 weeks for approval from submission. I believed that I waited 1 week for an approval. However, I knew I was approved before my surgeon because I called to confirm that my paperwork was submitted.

    Sleeve Tomorrow!!

Congrats!!! Good luck. There is not a way to fast forward the day unfortunately but it will be here soon.

changed my mind about the lapband

You would need to contact your surgical team immediately. The reason is, they would need to resubmit your information with a request for the sleeve. This will extend your wait time. Once they approve it, there is not a way to change it without having it withdrawn and new paperwork submitted. You are better off, having them resubmit for a new approval.

    Weight percentage question

I would all kinds of sickly at that weight. Hell, I may look like a little kid. I already look like a teenager, who knows I might be able to pass off as one.

    Weight percentage question

Oh, I read that question all kinds of wrong. We are supposed to weigh 60% of our surgery date weight. If I lost 60% of my weight from my surgery date, I would weigh 97.6 lbs and I haven't weight that much since I was maybe 8 or 9 lol.

    Weight percentage question

It is 60% of your surgery weight date.

Doing the right thing but gaining weight :(

Most likely water weight and muscle increase. Keep it up. You will continue to lose.

    Scared since vsg

It is called buyers remorse. You do not have the same relationship with food as you did prior to the surgery. Right now, food is not your comfort. Therefore you are feeling down. Have you ever heard the saying, "The body can achieve, what the mind conceives"? I ask because it seems that your anxiety with food now is affecting you physically. My first few months out. I would be soo scared to eat anything that I would make myself sick when I ate (subconsciously). I would eat three bites and because of fear of overeating, I convinced myself that I was full. I went from having one unhealthy relationship with food (loving it) to another (hating it). I gave up one eating disorder for another. I had to change my relationship with food. These first months will test you emotionally, physically and spiritually. They can either destroy you or make you stronger. Use this time to make a plan for yourself (goals that do not pertain to the scale). I hope this helps. Trust in due time it will get better.

    Help, what do I pack?

It depends on if you're doing an overnight stay or multiple days. I did an overnight stay. I bought the following: 1) Sweatpants and a loose shirt (No bra, loose panties, socks) for when I left. Honestly, you are not going to want a bra on afterward. 2) Chapstick (Lips get really chapped) 3) Phone / Charger / Headphones (You will be drugged up and sleeping most of the time, with the walking around. You probably won't even look at your phone) 4) Toothbrush and paste (Even though you most likely won't use them. I didn't) 5) Your paperwork That is pretty much it. That is all I bought with me.

    Sex after the sleeve...

I waited 6 weeks after surgery before I decided to have sex. Please note that at the time, I did not live with my boyfriend and he was going through midterms and working full time so I barely got to see him. It would be about once a month. So I got more than enough time to heal and relax. However, my surgeon suggested that it was okay about 4 weeks out but to not put too much pressure on your stomach and incisions.

    New to this...

I received a surgery date 2 weeks after my last appt. I was approved by my insurance 1 week after my last appt. I have stalled since I started lifting weights. My weight has swayed between 189 - 195 for months. However, I continue to keep going to the gym and eating right. I have come to realize that I have packed on a lot of muscle. Unfortunately, it is hidden under my fat but arms look nice. My only regret is that I had not done this sooner. It is okay to be scared. A lot of the time, people whom you see that have not lost the weight or regain, tend to be making a mistake in their program. Such as and limited to: 1) Not meal prepping properly or eating properly. 2) Not exercising or changing their lifestyle 3) Giving up or throwing in the towel because they stalled for too long 4) Failing to realize that slow progress is still progress (May not lose on the scale but lose inches)

    Exercising

You would have to do light lifting. Heavy lifting you can start about 3 months out. You would need to start with conditioning and gradually increase your weights over time.
