Hello everyone, today is 7 weeks for me 9/18 surgery date. Recovery was very easy. I eat a lot of Turkey burgers, eggs, chicken and tuna mostly. I made spinach quiche on soft a lot it so good and easy to get down without the crust of course also added turkey sauage (blended it first). I find myself not having to problems with food sometimes chicken isn't the best choice. I'm struggling with getting my liquids in. I wasn't a big drinker of any beverage before surgery so I find myself falling into bad habits of only getting in about 32 oz a day. All my boots are so loose around my calves I use to couldn't find that many that would even fit around them. I'm losing about 2-3 lbs a week. I'm 4'10 start 218, surgery 207 and current 188.9.

You have always been worth dating.
I hope you never forget that.
Has this guy told you he has an issue with your weight or is that your perception? Some people are genuinely afraid of dating bigger folks (both guys and gals, it goes both ways) or being labeled a "chubby chaser". Society makes us feel like a fetish.
I met my thin, fit partner on a video game when I was 225lbs. We fell for each other before we exchanged pictures and once we finally did, I sent him the "myspace" angles, nipped and tucked a little in photoshop, and hoped when we met he could see past the real, fat me and like me for who he thought I was. I got sick of keeping up the photographical lie and one day sent him a full body photo and said "this is who I am - take me or leave me". 24 hours later he made a 600-mile trip to meet me in person, moved in 8 months later, and we've been together for a total 5 years.
He watched me struggle with an eating addiction that stemmed from my childhood and lose 30lbs, only to put on 100lbs. He's exercised beside me and did crazy diets with me when I felt like thinness was my only way to happiness, and encouraged me to seek therapy to get my mother's aggressive, hateful words out of my head. He attended VSG orientation, held my hand for hours in the hospital bed before surgery, and slept 2 nights beside me in a crappy hospital chair while I recovered.
My point is that there is someone who is thrilled to date you at all stages in your life. The good, bad, fat, thin, poor, wealthy, sick, healthy...and those who think you look amazing when you can't even look in a mirror. There are also those who will threaten to leave when you no longer fit their idea of what someone should look like. Spend your energy on the ones that make you feel good now and forever, not ones who hold stipulations.

Dating at any age is difficult. At age 68 my husband of 39 year passed away. It was a difficult year during his illness. fortunately I had lapband surgery in 2013 and lost 70 lbs. It gave me the energy and mental ability to deal with his illness and I was able to care for him until he passed away. I had no intention to date or get romantically involved with anyone. Felt like I was too old . I went to the gym and helped with my grandkids and felt life was going to be a lonely time for me. I was invited to a charity poker club and started playing twice a week. I met a man who was single had been divorced for many years. We spoke some at the poker club , he asked one of the other guys if I was single. He asked me out to dinner and the next week was my birthday (70) he came and now we are together. He makes me feel so young and happy. I believe dating and being happy is about your attitude but you have to feel good about yourself first. If I had not had surgery and lost my weight, I doubt I would have had the courage to get involved with anyone. He knows I had WLS and is proud of me. He tells me I am beautiful every day. Keep working on yourself then get involved in a activity where you could possibly find someone special.

All. Thank you so much for relating, sharing your thoughts and the encouragement and support. At the end of the day my biggest challenge is with what's in my head and appreciating what I look like now. I want to read through and reply, however will do the easy thing first. Hi! I had my bypass on 9/5. I am 5'11' and in February i was over 285 lbs. On September the 5th, thanks to the pre-op diet i reached 250 lbs (-35lb in 7 months). I also became fully vegan in June. These past two months, since my surgery day, have been really interesting to me. Bean Soups are my best friends as well. I can have 1 full cup of them easily. I still drink 1 plant based Protein Shake a day (breakfast) and/or 1 plant based Protein Bar a day. I can eat more than I expected, and I tolerate small amount of sugar and fat. When i eat solid food, unless it is crunchy i can tolerate less than half a cup. I hurted my self 2-3 times by eating too fast and it was a very unpleasant sensation. I keep track of nutrients and calories. My surgeon is impressed by the fact that I daily reach around 70g of Proteins in less than 1000kcal. I am pretty happy. This morning my weight was 199 (-51 lbs in two months, - 86 since February) and I am about to get ready for my cycling class. Tomorrow I have another checkup and I'll go through some blood tests and stuff and I am confident they will be great. The past one were perfect and I have no issue with my Vitamins or Water input. Good luck to all of you. Here a couple of picture of before/after

    Hello All!
For the first time ever, I voluntarily posted a picture of myself on FB. I was sleeved on 3/6/17. Just a couple days after my 49th birthday. My SW was 236, my CW is 163, and GW is 150. Other than my first week being a pure nausea hell, everything else went great.
I do miss eating more than a few bites of food when I'm really enjoying the taste of something. I also miss baking. One of my favorite hobbys. My co workers also miss my baking! Lol
But I feel better than I have in years! I would never have asked for, and gotten there promotion at work, had it not been for the surgery. I knew I wouldn't have been able to do my current job if I didn't lose the weight.
    Anyhoooo...my pics

I've shopped almost exclusively at Torrid for years. I love their style, and know what looks good on me. I feel like Torrid allowed me to be myself, at any size.
I've gotten to the point where I'm in regular sizes now, and can no longer fit into Torrid clothes. Is there a store with similar styling for regular sizes? I've been to Forever 21, and some other skinny size stores, and can't seem to find a replacement for Torrid?!
I know it's owned by Hot Topic, but I'm not looking for that...just the fun, youthful cool clothes they have at Torrid, but in regular sizes.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?

    Good morning, everyone.
I am very proud to report that as of this morning, I have achieved my weight goal of 180 pounds. My one year surgery anniversary was last Thursday (September 28), and I met my goal on Monday, October 2. I have lost 217 pounds from my initial weight of 397 pounds at my first pre-op appointment on March 3, 2016. My skin has done incredibly well for a person who has lost this kind of weight. I may pursue some kind of plastics later on, but for right now, I am pretty happy. I am wearing a 30-32 waist pants/jeans/shorts, and small shirts. It is incredibly amazing to me, and I am still shocked every time I try on something new.
I still attribute so much of my success to losing 99 pounds during the six month pre-op diet program. Even this morning, my first thought was that if I hadn't done all of that work on the front end, I'd weigh 279 this morning, and not 180. For those of you that have to do the six months for your insurance company, I'd encourage you to really devote yourself during that time and get started!
For those of you that are considering WLS, this can be you, too if you commit yourself to your plan, change your relationship with food, and prioritize your health and well-being over the momentary pleasure that any food provides.
My new challenge is going to be getting the weight loss to stop. I am finding that at one year post-op, I am eating less that I was a few months ago. It is weird. The will to eat is there, but I just get incredibly full incredibly fast. I have my one-year follow-up appointment with the bariatric surgeon's staff in early November. I'll talk to them about it then.
There isn't much difference at 180 than when I weighed 185 or 186, but I am super proud to have met my goal and to "officially" be in maintenance!
    Wishing everyone the very best,
    Blair

It sounds like you are doing the right things. Just try to make sure you're getting in your liquids. Don't weigh yourself until you are exactly 2 weeks to the day. The first week you were pump with so much gas and fluids. I only lost 7 lbs 2 weeks out.

Here's my before & after as of this morning--sorry for the undies:

At 300lbs, I thought 170/5'11" was ambitious but now that I'm here I think I could stand to lose another 20-30lbs. I THINK a lot of it is loose skin (my thighs are now made of pugs), but honestly I can't really tell, maybe I'm just making excuses for still being tubby lol. When is too early to start looking into plastics?? (not that I could afford it but a girl can dream....)
Having a personal moment of silence for my booty disappearing. You will be missed. Thank you for being a sacrifice to the weight loss deities.
That's all I got, just wanted to share this victory with someone

You are fine. I will warn you farts lie. When you do feel the need to pass gas go to the bathroom. I did not have a bowel movement until a week after. Don’t be surprised if it black either. That is caused by blood from the surgery and the Iron you should be taking.

I just made the Cottage cheese bake from the Baritastic app & it was good (and I don't like cottage cheese!) I just added a little sprinkle of Parmigiano Reggiano shredded cheese to the top (looked like it needed it towards end of baking).

    INGREDIENTS:

    2 cups low-fat or fat-free cottage cheese
    2 whole eggs
10 oz pack of frozen spinach (thawed and drained)
    ½ cup Parmesan cheese

    DIRECTIONS:

    Preheat oven to 350° F.
In large bowl, mix all ingredients together well.
    Place evenly into 8x8 pan.
Bake for 20-30 minutes or until cheese bubbles on outside.
Let sit 5 minutes before serving.
Season to taste with salt, pepper, and garlic as desired.
