    10 months Post Op! (pics)

    You look absolutely amazing!
  2. I'm in my 5th week out, and have had the same problem of not knowing when I'm full until it's too late. It is very frustrating. I have found that taking a bite or two of food and then taking a break to let that food settle before taking a another bite, helps me gauge how full I'm getting. Good luck to you.

    Water causing stomach pain

I am having the same problem. I was Sleeved on 1/23/17, and I try every day to at least get up to 48 oz., but I can't seem to do it. I do have about 12 oz. of hot tea every day. It just seems there are bit enough hours in the day to get everything in.

    Vitamins

I will say that I tried the chewables from Nutrition Direct, and they were okay the first couple of days, then they started making me sick to my stomach. So I called and switched to the tablets. So I will try those for my next shipment.

    Vitamins

My doctor recommended Nutrition Direct. The sign-up was sent in from my doctor's office, and the company works with your insurance to keep costs down. They deliver directly to your door, and the Vitamins are specifically for bariatric patients. They have chewables and tablets. It also includes a nasal spray you take once a week to address B12 deficiencies. You get a month's supply, and I have AETNA insurance, so I paid $25 for all of it.
  7. I'm so glad to hear you say this. I thought it was just me. I lost 15 lbs. when I went to my 1 week post-op visit. I have my 6-week visit next week, and I've only lost 2 lbs. I know it's not all about the weight, but I expected to lose more in a 5-6 week period. I just keep trying.

    Home!!!!! weight loss!

I actually use an app called Baritastic to track my weight, meals, exercise and water intake. It's a pretty good app.
  9. Mine was by one of my incisions on my right side. When I went to my first follow-up appointment, I was told that the incision that was bothering me is where they pulled the stomach out. It only lasted for 2-3 weeks.
  10. There are lots of support groups and this site is a wealth of support also. I'm sure many of us have had those same thoughts in the beginning. Just ask yourself do you want to be healthy and prolong your life, and better your livelihood. I think from your post, you've already answered that question. You can do this. It won't be easy, but anything worth having is never easy. Good luck to you!

    Maryland sleevers?!

I live in Upper Marlboro, MD. I had VSG on 1/23/17 at Providence Hospital in DC with Dr. Marc Rickford. All is going well so far. Hardest part is not eating fast and trying to get in all of my nutrients and liquids during the day

    Surgery tomorrow

Good luck to you on this journey. I have had trouble getting my walking in. I'm 5 weeks out and have only been able to walk a few times. I associate it with pain, so I don't always force myself to do it. Trying to get better each day.
  13. I also use Nascobal. I thought the chewables would be great, but for some reason, they made me sick to my stomach. I switched it to the tablets. Looking forward to getting this shipment in.
  14. I lost 15 lbs. my first week after surgery. Then maybe 2 lbs. since the post-op weigh-in. I'm currently 5 weeks out and feeling very frustrated that I haven't lost more.
  15. I think people watch "My 600-lb. Life" and think these are the only candidates for WLS. I haven't told many people. I did it to try to live a pain-free life. One friend told me that she hoped she wouldn't be jealous of me when I started losing weight. Really!?!?! Yes, i will lose weight, but I hope to be in much less pain. Folks really don't get it.

    5 weeks

I suffer from degenerative OA. I was okay until I tried walking for a period of time. The scale hasn't moved since my initial weight-loss. Really frustrating.
  17. @Josie1958 you should check with your doctor, but my doctor said I could not work-out until 6 weeks post-op. Good luck!

  21. Karen, I am going into my 4th week out, and I feel exactly the same way. I just miss chewing. I have major back pain, and got the VS to help alleviate this. But for the past week, I've been having "buyers remorse." I am currently on full liquids, and I am just counting the days until I can move to the puree stage. Lol! Just hang in there, I know it has to get better from this point. ~Deedy Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Returning to work

I was sleeved on 1/23, and my first time out of the house was yesterday. I went with my family toob the mall, but didn't get out. Then we went to a store that I went into with my daughters. That little bit of activity took so much energy. I was off last week and will be teleworking for three weeks. So I'll be physically away from work for a total of 4 weeks. 23. Hi, I'm Suzanne. I had my surgery the 24th. When the new day nurse came in on the 25th, she smelled like garlic and onions...which I used to adore...but. yuck! It was horrid. Then at home my husband got into bed and was reeking of garlic, onions, toothpaste and God knows what else. And the dog....smelled like kibble. Ugh. This is a superpower side effect. Wondering how long it is going to last... I haven't come close to getting my liquids, protien or Vitamins in but I'm hoping today will be the day! Swelling is going down, incisions are healing nicely and I can lay on my stomach now. I am on full liquids but just added "real" food yesterday (only Water, and a couple bites of Jello wed and thurs) Yesterday I tried some herbal tea (fantastic!), watery cream of wheat (yummy), cream of chicken Soup spiked with Protein powder, and triple zero Greek yogurt. Only managed a few bites of each but they were all wonderful taste sensations! I have not weighed myself yet. Today's goals...liquids, protein, walking. And measurements. I need to take measurements! Good luck to all! Our journey has begun! Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App I have also had a problem with smells. They have been strong enough to make me sick to my stomach. The garlic and grease smells do it for me. Doesn't seem to be as bad lately, but my first few days home I thought I was losing my mind! I reminds me of when I had morning sickness with my babies. Hope yours ends soon! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
