My suggestion is to save a clothing item. I saved one pair of jean shorts. Three years out there are days when I realize I’m wearing a size medium but look in the mirror and still feel “fat” Every so often I will pull them out just to put on and remind myself how far I’ve come. It’s hard to change your mindset.

Find a bra with side support to hold in the loose side boob. Stretch pants with a snug high waist will help hold in the loose skin muffin top. I saved one pair of jean shirts from prior to surgery for the days I look it my hanging belly and dream of a Tummy Tuck, to remind myself of how far I’ve come.

I’m almost 3 years out, I never quite reached my goal. I got down to 150# but once I started eating carbs again gained some. I have maintained at around 170#. I’m happy with my loss, but ideally wanted to reach 130# as my surgeon never gave me a goal to reach. I feel like I have to be good because this far out I can eat more and don’t want to fall into old habits. I’m glad I found this thread because I’m recovering from the holidays and more carbs than I should’ve eaten, but I’m back on track and feeling better.

Yes, I had a Cheeto addiction post op, might sound crazy but I could eat a whole bag in a day. I won’t even buy them anymore. If you have access to meetings, it helps to go and even hear from the pre op people to help you remember why you went through this. Think back on the day after surgery when you probably thought to yourself what the hell did I just do to myself and think about how far you’ve come so far. But a support group really does help. I only go when I start to falter and need the help, they have then once a month where I went.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Sorry you are struggling to gain. What is the weight you feel your healthiest at?
I also have a bit of not seeing myself correctly.
I maintain the same ten pounds up and down the scale. I can gain or lose ten pounds and wear the same size clothing. My head will view a ten-pound gain as I’m obese…it’s not reality. I’ve had comments that I’m looking too thin or stop losing weight. It messes with my mind because I can’t see what they see. I’m a healthy BMI many people don’t know what a healthy BMI looks like.

hmills653 got a reaction from TattooedSeaStar in I haven't told anyone about my surgery
I told my friends, family and Co workers. But didn’t announce it on social media. If someone asks me I tell them but I am almost 3 years or so weight has stabilized and I’m going to lose anymore I have to start a work our routine or do a few weeks of Keto. So now when people ask if I’ve lost some weight I tell them what I’m currently doing. There is nothing wrong with keeping it to yourself. Your medical history doesn’t have to be anyone else’s business, just like you wouldn’t have to share with anyone else if you took a pregnancy test. Keep up the great work and remember you did this surgery for yourself not to make anyone else feel differently toward you.

Thanks for the updates. It really helps to see what someone is going through to help you decide if this is for you.

Hello. I had sleeve on May 31. So glad I did. I'm feeling great and alot more active. I've had 3 people at work approach me with questions saying they've considered the surgery but didn't know anyone who went through it. I'm glad I did.

So I found these Cookies today. They are called "My Cookie". They have 18 gms Protein, I was so focused on the protein that I didn't pay attention to the carbs. What's your input. Are these ok, or finish them and find something different.

In three past 6 mos I went from a 3X to a medium. I still feel fat. I see my collar bones but I also see my fat belly and jiggly thighs. Others say things like you look good and you're so tiny, but I still feel like a fat girl. It's hard to get past the mentality of the changes in our bodies.

Thanks. 600 calories seem so low. I'm usually around 900-1000. Although sometimes it's hard to keep accurate calories, like when I eat an apple but can't finish the last 2 slices. But I'll enter one apple in my fitness pal.

I never had issues before surgery. But I work 12-14 hr shifts. I found if I eat shortly before going to bed I'm in trouble. I actually woke up choking on acid that came up into my mouth. As long as I don't eat within an hour of lying down I'm ok though.

Yes. I was told at my support group last night that lots of water helps to flush the fat out of our system as we lose weight.

Finally! This was my first goal. 8lbs away from onederland. That’s my second goal. Surgery on May 22 and I moving at a snails pace but I’m still thrilled.
Just wanted to share cuz I’m all kinds of happy today!

The first place that wrought loss was noticeable is my face and its working its way down oddly enough. When I first went back to work everyone noticed my cheek bones. So it went cheek and collar bones, my teen daughter asked why my hands look bony, I told her my skin is older than hers. My upper abdomen is flatter. I have only gone down one pant size from 22 to 20. 3 mos post op so this is somewhat upsetting. I notice bagginess in my thighs and butt of pants. I really want to lose this belly. I guess it'll take time. I'm grateful for what I've lost, it's just I had my appt with surgeon yesterday and the girl that was about my twin and had surgery the same day looked so much thinner to me with her little chicken legs (meant with love). I'm down 37# since surgery. I know I couldn't have do be that much on my own.

I was told to avoid it until I got my Fluid goal bc it could dehydrate you. I haven't had coffee or any caffeine since before surgery which was may 31. I actually don't miss it. I thought I would but I have a ton of energy.

hmills653 got a reaction from Sherry Rice in what is your ht/wt and clothing size?
I am 5' 4". My highest weight was 280# a few years ago. My weight when deciding on surgery was 256# and I wrote a 22 pants and 2-3 x shirts. I am 8 weeks out. I am at 198# My pants size is 20, and still 2x in shirts butI did get rid of alot of my shirts that seemed baggy and feel better in shirts that conform to my waist a little better. Yesterday I noticed at work I could feel my scrub pants sagging in the but area and I know I've lost a bra cup lol oh and I'm starting to get little bat wings so hopefullyI can tone those at the gym. But I love laying in bed and being able to feel my hip bones. I still fit I my dresses but I feel they lay more flattering to my figure. I'm so happy I decided to have this surgery and with the lifestyle changes I'd made prior I knew I was ready to commit to the changes needed.

I'm 5' 4" and 3 mos post op and have to be careful to stay under 1,000 calories a day per muy surgeons recommendation. It's easy to go over for me if I didn't watch my calories and what I eat.

He should make you feel like a goddess at any weight. I could grow another head and my husband would tell me that's just extra beauty or something to make me feel good. Maybe seeing a marriage counselor as well might be helpful.
