    No weight loss pre-op

I feel like then it was because I wasn't allowed to have any bread or pasta, even rice or quinoa. It was just lean proteins and vegetables.

    No weight loss pre-op

In my program (MGH in Boston), the pre-op period was less about weight loss and more about building healthy habits. They told me to focus on protein and fiber with every meal and snack, make sure I didn't go more than 5 hours without eating, and sip on water all day long. I'll say it was very helpful to me. And once I filled up on the protein and fiber, a lot of the foods I thought I was going to miss just weren't an issue. Until the 2 week pre-op liver shrinking diet started. Then everyone looked like a walking breadstick or slice of pizza to me.

    Unsuporrtive Partner

Do you have any local friends or family? It sounds like you cannot depend on him for support. Unfortunately, it sounds like if things with him don't improve you may need to lose him and focus on yourself. There's no shame in that.

    I don’t feel right

I'm a little over 3 years out from the sleeve. I remember my surgeon, nutritionist, and primary care all telling me to focus on hydration first. Keep a water bottle with you all the time and just take small sips every chance you get. Then focus on the protein. You will be ok.
  5. Consider putting the scale away for a month or so. Your body is recovering from major surgery. If you focus on staying hydrated, sticking to the plan your doctor gave you and resting you will be absolutely fine. I should also say that I had a relatively low BMI when I had my surgery, but I lost weight quickly. Patience and persistence are your friends.
  6. I'm 35, almost 2 years post-op and just found out I'm pregnant (5wks). My MIL didn't have WLS but she had her first child (my husband) when she was 40 and her second child (his younger brother) at 45. They're both happy, healthy men. Although she did tell me she did not recommend waiting until I'm in my 40s to have kids, just because it was hard to keep up with the kids.
  7. I'm almost 5 weeks pregnant. I've been using a couple of scoops of unflavored protein powder in my morning smoothies. I do a cup of baby spinach, a cup of frozen fruit, a cup and a half of almond milk, and a banana, then some protein powder mixed in there. It's the only way I get healthy stuff in me for breakfast since sold food is seriously unattractive until later in the day.

    Venting my depression

What you're feeling is so normal after surgery. Give yourself some time. Get out for short walks. Follow your doctor's directions. Definitely seek some therapy too. It is such a vital part of your post-op care! If you feel like you can't talk to your current therapist about what's going one, find a new one that you are comfortable talking to. 9. Good morning! I'm about 16 months out from VSG and I think I'm pregnant. Heading to my primary care for a test this afternoon. Should I ask about doing bloodwork to check my vitamin levels? I haven't had my 1 year post op bloodwork yet because I haven't had time to schedule it and the follow up. Is there anything else I should know or ask about? When can we eat salad again?

I was never told not to, but I will say that even more than a year out certain raw veggies are really uncomfortable for me.

    Having second thoughts... Help!

Remember why you chose this path. Is it difficult? Yeah, of course. You're having most of an organ removed and changing the way you eat forever. That's huge! But I can tell you, at about 15 months out, this is the best decision I've ever made. I'm healthier, happier, and on the completely vain side of things, I look better than I have in a while! It's all worth it. You can do this! You also have our support.
  12. I had a similar issue for my first few months post-op. Yogurt was fine. Cottage cheese? Fine! Milk to mix a protein shake? Bad. So bad. I've taken to mixing my shakes with almond milk. I can have regular milk now without getting sick, but sometimes it doesn't sit right.
  13. You're absolutely right. We can't use food to make us feel better anymore and actually have to feel things now. It's not fun but we can get through. I'm having to learn that not all negative feelings are bad. It's ok to have them. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Swollen belly

Give it a few weeks. I wore leggings and stretchy clothes til about 4 weeks out I think. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. It will get better, I promise. You are only 12 days out and your body will take some time to heal. I started feeling better around 3 weeks out and back to normal energy level around 6 weeks. Sent from my SM-J327V using BariatricPal mobile app
