    Major issues with calcium

One tip is to suck on the tablets instead of chewing them. I tried chewing mine and it was horrible, they grew in my mouth. I now suck on them, and no problem at all.

    Poll: How many carbs?

Huge thanks to @Berry78 for always sharing great wisdom and information with us all.

    Poll: How many carbs?

I actually have nuts here at work. I'm drinking my protein shake for the day along with some yogurt, but I'll take some nuts later. Adding nuts might not be a bad idea. And yes, I'm still missing a meal at least. Maybe even a snack. I have fish at home. Salmon, it will get the kcal and the fat up.

    Poll: How many carbs?

I'm not going keto, but my fat is not that high. Like today, (I have added two meals and a snack I haven't eaten yet, and at least one meal I have no idea what is going to be), I have these stats. Based on 4 meals and a snack 71g of carbs, 33g of fat and 131g of protein. 1113 calories.

    Poll: How many carbs?

Hm, lots to think about here. I'll see what I can do. I think a phone call sooner rather than later might be an idea.

    Poll: How many carbs?

@FluffyChix I think increasing my fat is a good idea. I'm already at 120+g of protein, and my nut wants me on that or higher, but I think increasing my fat is the best way to get more calories in right now. I can adjust as I get further out from surgery. I keep forgetting that I'm only 7.5 months out. I have been over 100g of protein for a good while now

    Poll: How many carbs?

Hehe. I started with 40 g, ended up eating it in two sittings. cut back to 20g, steel cut. Then my surgeon wanted me to eat rolled, so I did 10 and 10, that was suddenly too much again, so now I'm at 10 steel and 5 rolled. And I need the flaxseeds for my bowls.....seriously
  8. The worst dumping episode

On Friday night I had the worst dumping episode to date. I have had nothing like it so far, just mildly and immediately after I have eaten, this was a case of late dumping.

I didn't eat much or as regularly as I would normally do, as I had the day off, and things are never how they usually are. I also donated plasma in the morning, not that I have ever had problems with that before.
In the afternoon I had a few reeses covered pretzels (Yes, I know) and didn't think anything of it. I was playing with my dog on the floor, was a little tired, but nothing unusual, and then woke up over and hour later. I was shaking, heart racing, sweating, legs like logs, stomach not too happy.

I knew I had to eat, so managed to get some food in me, forced myself to walk my dog half a block and then went to bed and stayed there for 12 h. On Saturday I still wasn't back to normal, a friend also telling me that I was extremely pale. As the day progressed I got better, and Sunday was no problem, went and worked out as normal.

But what a horrible experience. Guess who has another intensive to stay away from sugar.

@Berry78 I have only been donating for a week, they won't allow you until at least 4 months post op, and that is only of your full blood work comes back perfect. It is very heavily regulated. Also, I don't think I have been working out as hard as you think I have. 2 weight training a week, and walking/nordic walking and some swimming. I'm not going back to full swimming until after Christmas because I know it drains me of calories, and walking and weight training I was used to from before the surgery, so not something new for the body, just less calories.

I'll talk to my NUT this week and see what she says. They didn't say anything against it when I mentioned it at my check up, but I'll ask again.

The incident was a late dumping because of too much sugar, nothing else. I will take make sure it doesn't happen in the future though, for sure.

That sounds scary too me almost similar symptoms to low blood sugar with the sweating and shaking.

Glad you felt better on Sunday.

@Apple1 Late dumping syndrome happens because of an increase in starches and sugars in your intestines. At first, the extra sugar causes your blood sugar level to rise. Your pancreas then releases the hormone insulin to move sugar (glucose) from your blood into your cells. This extra rise in insulin causes your blood sugar to drop too low. Low blood sugar is called hypoglycemia. And for us the food moves very rapidly from our stomach to our small bowls, meaning there is no food for the insulin to work on. Something like that.

      And thank you!

    Poll: How many carbs?

I have oatmeal every morning. No to the raisin though, not a fan. This is my go to. 15g of oatmeal (10g steel cut and 5g rolled) 1/2 cup of water and into the microwave. Then I add 20g of flaxseeds (10 whole and 10 crushed) Then I add 50g of high protein yogurt (Skyr) 10 g of pumpkin seeds Cinnamon Sometimes I add fruit I use whole grain/carb reduced pasta or one made of beans or something like that (It's the texture of means I don't like, not the taste lol) I might make a call to her in a week or two as I try to adjust these things. Thanks for your input, they are greatly appreciated.

    Poll: How many carbs?

@Berry78 problem is, I don't eat any kinds of beans, and bread does not go well with my stomach. Every type I have eaten has gotten stuck. I already eat potatoes almost every single day in my stew. She did say 50% of total, as she was looking at myfitnesspal with me, and loved the days I had close to 50% protein. I think I have to add more fruit, add a little more pasta etc. I also have to increase my eating intervals. every 3-4h is not going to cut it, it'll have to be closer to 2-3h. On the weekends it's impossible for me to get enough food in, unless I eat like a bag of popcorn or something. Hm...
  11. @Berry78 and @FluffyChix I had a 4 day weekend and stayed offline for the most part. Yes, I'm hungry because I'm not eating enough. Still not eating enough, trying to figure out how I'm going to get more food in me, and still stay with in my guidelines of 50% protein.

    Poll: How many carbs?

So my nut wants me at 50% protein. Because of that my carbs will automatically stay low. I'm somewhere between 50-100g a day, all depending. I haven't had any carb restrictions since surgery except sugar really.
  13. My surgical team has to follow a national standard, and have a great success. Also, I might have been able to eat solids, but everything has to be chewed down to puree, and it's still like that. And I know I have to, or things get stuck
  14. December 2015 I had my first back surgery. I could hardly walk, and was heavily medicated with opioids to get through the day. Surgery was a success, until I had a relaps at the same place not even a year later. Long story short. I had 2 nerve blockages that worked for a while, but in the end, my surgeon said I needed to be operated on again. We decided to wait and see if the wls would help my back. The pictures below are from March of this year, only 7 days after my wls, and from Saturday. The herniation has been reduced to almost nothing, the spine covering the nerve is almost nothing, all due to loosing almost 90 lbs. I see my neurosurgeon on Monday, but both I and my physical therapist are sure I won't be having the surgery I'm booked for on October 3rd. If that is not a success story, I don't know what is.
  15. Lot's of weight training, nordic walking, walking everywhere (15000-20000 steps a day) and swimming is what I have been doing. And thank you!
  16. Short term is reaching goal by Christmas. Long term is drop fat % before I go on vacation/shopping trip to Florida in March. I can't wait. (I'm in Austria) I can't run, but I like racing, so I'll do a couple of Nordic walking races. Also, get stronger for my back. And yeah, I think fluctuation is good. NUT says I need more food because I burn so much, so I'm doing okay. Sometimes 1500 feels like so much food, other times I'm wondering how so little food can have so much kcal lol. Fail to plan is like planning to fail, and it's so true. Exciting. It's going to be here before you know it. Just stick to what you have been doing.
  17. Well, I know there is a bottom limit, so if she has mentioned it, make sure you stay above. For me it was above 40 when I went to get approved for the surgery. After that I could drop as much as I wanted. But I got approved 13 days (my surgery got moved up by 4 weeks because there was an opening and everything but insurance was approved at that time.) Thank you. My motivation has always been to prevent another back surgery, which I did. Now I need to find another motivation to pull myself together a little. I have been slipping a little lately. I do have extra skin. It might not look like ut, but it's there, especially on my legs. I know I have been lucky, considering I'm close to 100lbs and have no overhang. I'm up and down on my kcal, I have also been up and down with tracking lately. I'm anywhere from 1100-1600 I think. Today is a high day of over 1500 if I eat everything I have put into myfitnesspal. I believe one key to my success is that I meal prep. It gives me less options to stray into eating unhealthy stuff. So do you know when you'll have surgery?
  18. You are a rock star. And you now have the end in sight. You can do this. If you can't go down in kcal, see if you can do something about burning a little more. It might help. Or maybe even upping your kcal for a few days before going back down might help. I know, so close. And 9.6 from goal and normal bmi. I'm hoping I can do it before Christmas, but it might be too much to ask. That's okay though. It would be the best Christmas gift to myself though.
  19. You have already done an amazing job, just keep up the good work and you'll be at your goal in no time.
  20. Thanks. And yes. I have worked out since 3 weeks post up. I had to because I had to strengthen my back to avoid back surgery. I do weight lifting 2 a week, swimming, nordic walking and I walk, everywhere. I average between 15000 - 20 000 steps a day. And I go hiking.
  21. Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis or Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA) is a method of assessing your body composition, the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. It is an integral part of a health and nutrition assessment. Mine was done on a seca mBCA 515
  22. @Berry78 yeah, we transitioned through the stages in 4 days. Of course everything had to be chewed to puree, and we had several restrictions, I was eating cheese, yogurt, and a few other things. Just because I was allowed, didn't mean I did. I eat mostly cheese, yogurt and protein shakes. But also some fish and chicken. I have heard that sleeve feel a lot more restriction than bypass
