End of Weight Loss? What Now?

Granted that I'm only 1 year post op on March 20th and I'm bypass, I talked to my nutritionist yesterday about this. How basically I have slim to none weight loss since December. She told me that I'll most likely keep loosing up to 18-24 months, it's just my body taking a break, and it might continue to do so for another month or two, but just to hang in there. I am at goal, but I would like to lose a little more fat that is stuck to my stomach and inner thighs. I'm at a fat percentage of 26% right now, which is well within normal range, I just want to be more lean. I have gone from 255 to 147.
  2. So I had my 6 months check up at the hospital on Thursday, 1 day before 7 months. I saw my surgeon who could not be more thrilled with me. I have lost 82% of my excess weight. (which is a little strange as I have lost 91% of what will give me a normal BMI) They don't want me to loose too much more weight as I'll start to look sickly. They don't think I'll need any plastics, as I don't have an over hang and my blood results are great (the doctor at my support group will probably disagree. All my values are within range, but some are in the lower end, and since she is a specialist on supplements for bariatrics, she prefers us in the upper range). They also have a score that they calculate, that I don't remember, but it was very high, and she called me a success case. I don't go back until my 1 year check up. (I'll just have blood drawn in 3 months and show my support group doctor) They were actually fully booked for the BIA test, but the surgeon wanted med to have one, so she called and asked if they could fit me in, and they could. They are done by the nutritionist. She was also very impressed when she saw me, and after the test she could not be happier. I have the values for all 3 tests (1 month pre op, 6 weeks post op and 7 months post op) I managed to gain another 4 lbs before starting my pre op diet, so it wasn't at my very highest. The only negative thing was my phase angle. It has dropped. It's a measurement that shows how well your muscles are getting nutrition. That along with my total protein (from the blood test) she wants me to eat more, and get more protein. Other than that, everything was great and she was so impressed, especially how much muscles I still have. All the working out and walking has helped tremendously. I have included pictures from about 6 months and 7 months post up. It's only like 5 lbs between the pictures, but I see several changes.
  3. Several interesting articles were gathered and published here yesterday. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/currentissue Here are a few of them, the complete list is in the link above. Body measurements

There is a difference between your natural waist and what they use for the hip to waist ratio though. For that, it's 1cm above your naval.

    Am I Eating Too Much?

I would get my BMR and RMR tested. If you have been eating like this for the past 6 months and you haven't gained, it looks like you have found your maintenance lvl. If you are still loosing, you are below, if you are gaining, you are above. Adjust accordingly. I'm a 5ft 5inch female and my RMR, what I need to eat to maintain, is just over 2000kcal. (tested) There are no set maintenance lvl, it's all individual. If you are worried you are eating too much, get it tested.

    Body measurements

I usually do largest part of the arm, under breast, natural waist, 1cm above belly button (usually what they use for the waist to hip ratio), hips, largest part of the thigh, just above the knee and calf.

    Bullied into the Sleeve

If you have GERD, the sleeve should not be an option for you. Several people have had to convert their sleeve to a bypass because of GERD, so if you are already struggling, I would not consider the sleeve.

    Obesity and malnutrition

@Berry78 you are amazing. I needed this today. I have had horrible eating pattern for the past 3 days. Already back on right path, but this has made me realize that I don't eat enough veggies. I'm so focused on getting enough protein in, and I'm getting like 120g from just food, and not getting over like 1200kcal, but I need more veggies. I have meal prepped since day one, and it has saved me, but I make the same stuff over and over. I need to venture out more.
  10. I'm not much help as I'm not even 8 months out, but take a look in the veterans forum. There should be people there who can help you out.

    Gastric Sleeve: Daily Calorie Intake

Granted I'm bypass, I'll be 8 months since surgery on Monday and I'm suppose to eat 1400-1500 kcal a day, and I'm managing 1200-1500 with 120-140g of protein.
  13. So I started at 255 2 weeks before, surgery at 243, the day I came back to work after 2.5 week after surgery (could have come before, but my back made it so I couldn't walk without extreme pain so I needed a nerve blockage 10 days after surgery) at 226 and people could already tell on my face. No one knew about the surgery.

    Protein bars?

I love the ones from Quest Nutrition especially these The code NAQ441 will give you $5 or $10 or 5% off, all depending. I also love a few from Oh Yeah Almond bliss is to die for.
  15. I love working with mostly men, they have very little to say about my body. Most of them have dared to comment once, in a very positive way, but other than that, they are men. I have gotten a few people who haven't recognized me until they recognized my dog first and looked at me twice, and they are just shocked. I have gotten a few "Don't get too skinny lately" though.

    Intermittent Fasting

I use 24h clock, and that's it. I guess they should reteach English teachers around the world then, because they teach AM/PM as I have described over. I have been thought English in 4 different countries, including the UK and USA.
  17. Meryline

    Intermittent Fasting

Well, must only be in Australia then, because everywhere where I have been where they use AM/PM it's used as posted in my previous post.

    Intermittent Fasting

Are you sure about that? I have never heard or seen it used that way https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-hour_clock The 12-hour clock is a time convention in which the 24 hours of the day are divided into two periods: a.m. (from the Latin, ante meridiem, meaning before midday) and p.m. (post meridiem, meaning past midday). Each period consists of 12 hours numbered: 12 (acting as zero). The 24 hour/day cycle starts at 12 midnight (often indicated as 12 a.m.), runs through 12 noon (often indicated as 12 p.m.), and continues to the midnight at the end of the day. The 12-hour clock was developed over time from the mid-second millennium BC to the 16th century AD. The 12-hour time convention is common in several English-speaking nations and former British colonies, as well as a few other countries.
  19. I'm honestly surprised that you have cleared to run just a week after surgery. And now you are running and lifting on the same day. Most people are allowed to lift max 5kg for the first 3 weeks, and no running, just walking. The body is healing and should get as much energy as possible for that, not deplete it with exercise.
  20. Awesome job. You look AMAZING! I too has grown after surgery. I was 1.65, now I'm 1.66 or 1.67.

10 days post op lap band

I'm honestly surprised that doctors still put lap-bands in. Here in Austria they are working hard to get them all removed because they cause so much damage.

    Can't change height

Yeah, sadly I don't see it changing any time soon..... But at least I know it's not correct, and I'm so close to being under BMI 25 that it shouldn't be a problem. But it would be nice to have the correct number.
  23. I'm trying to change my height, but it's not letting me. I'm 1cm taller than what it's set at.

    Can't change height

It's ridiculous that they can't get it to show the most accurate measurement there is. I mean there is a difference in 165 and 166, as it is with you at 175 and 176. It gives us a higher BMI. It annoys me to no end. Hey support, how about fixing this.
  25. 100 freaking pounds gone, and only 5.3 lbs from goal.
