I am glad you are now having a BM everyday, I cant wait until I can say the same! Lol it's kind of comical how much importance I put on it now and how for granted I took it pre-op! Best of luck to you on your journey

i have experienced Constipation a lot since surgery. I was taking Milk of Magnesium for about a month and switched to Miralax, daily, after seeing my surgeon 3 months out. The past week my constipation was awful so I took 2 Dulcolax, a long with the Miralax and 4 prunes. It totally did the trick. Today i skipped the Miralax and Dulcolax to give my body a break but will continue with the Miralax and prunes tomorrow.

So i'm officially 100 pounds down, but still have a ways to go. This is the most confident i've ever been in my life and i feel absolutely amazing. Recently, however, as i've been healing and able to eat more and test out new foods, i find myself absolutely overwhelmed and terrified of gaining even a single pound back. i stick to my diet and exercise everyday, but occasionally (and i mean rarely) slip up and eat something i shouldn't or skip a workout. Gaining weight now consumes my every thought. I may sound like a cry baby but i just don't know what to do! It is so overwhelming and sends me to panic mode. I know i'm not perfect, but i'm trying my very best to be. Any advice or words of encouragement??

    I'm 5 months post-op and I'm down 131 pounds. Starting at 470 and now 339.
For those who are on the fence about getting the surgery, or have just gotten it and are hoping it works for them, let me tell you, if you follow your doctor's advice, it will work.
I hardly get hungry anymore and when I do and eat, I get full almost instantly. As soon as I do feel satisfied, I feel that I can't eat another bite, which is something I never experienced before having this surgery. In the past, even if I was full, I could keep eating and stuff myself. I know now, that if I did that I'd get nauseous so I STOP when my body tells me to. I have very few cravings too. This surgery has been a miracle to me. Weight loss isn't as fast as it was in the first month or so, but I do tend to lose around 3-4 pounds a week and I'll gladly take that. At this rate I'll be in the high 200s by Summer and to see my weight start with the number 2 will be amazing.

I'm pre-op but down 50lbs and am waiting for people to notice. Still hasn't happened. My boyfriend keeps saying there is a huge noticeable difference but it's his job to say nice crap like that lol. I even asked my mom if she saw a difference and she said "not really, but keep up the good work." Gee thanks mom!

As a long time bi pass person 2004. I have now gained 50pounds. I will tell what the doctor told me last week. You have to reset your pouch. It that simple and that hard. Go back to 2weeks of liquid Protein diet. Than 2weeks of Breakfast and lunch shakes and dinner protein and fresh. Nothing else I hope this helps you. Keep me updated. It will come of. If you go by the plan but none of us think it is easy

My Nutritionist is Nancy Lum and she is a Bariatric specialist that is part of my surgeon's BC/BS Bariatric Center of Excellence practice. I believe she does phone sessions. Her website is: http://www.nutrition5.com/ She may be able to work with you and your nutritionist to figure out why you are stalling.
My plan is 5 mini-meals a day - every 3 -4 hours with no eating in between. Meals include 3 - 4 oz Protein, a multigrain or fruit serving, and veggies (if there is room). Also I have 3 good fats daily - nuts, guacamole, olive oil.

Hey, 40 lbs in 4 months is awesome!! When was the last time you did that? Keep up the great work! Yes, increasing activity level will help as well as tracking, calorie free liquids and sticking with your program.

I was taking my allergy meds one night about 2 weeks after my surgery and I wasn't thinking....tossed them in my mouth and threw down about 12 ounces of Water in a few big gulps. I immediately realized what I'd done, but oh...the pain. It was terrible, I felt like I was having a heart attack! It was all esophageal spasms, though, not any pain from my stomach itself. Still terrifying!

I'm exactly the same! Lost NOTHING for 3 months. I eat about 1000 a day. Dr said stop the shake. Nut said too MUCH Protein, add small fruit, then dr said no fruit, add shake....I'm so confused! I've tried changing what I eat, how much, increased activity, increased Water, etc. a friend that is about a year out said it happened to her too, said one day just started falling off quickly again. I'm praying for that day! Lol

Yep....easy to fall back into old habits. Did it the other night with some white chicken chili. Just wasn't paying attention while talking at dinner and took a few bites too fast. Hit like a sack of bricks and I was done eating. Didn't overeat or anything - just too fast.
I'm also having to put my drinks away when I eat. Still feels unnatural to not drink while eating. Did it this morning without even thinking about it. Makes me mad at myself but it's still a new/learning process on habit changes. For the most part doing really well but it's amazing how quickly old habits can creep back in.

It took about 7 days for me to go you also need to remember that you will very little in your stomach to make much happen if you were nil by mouth day before and liquids prior I was concerned I hadn't been but my surgeon said there won't be alot to go it will happen when it does Constipation was an issue for me the first 3 months stay hydrated.

Mine did cover. When that time comes talk to your Primary Care, Dermatoligist and Plastic Surgeon. All can write letters to insurance about and medical need you have. If extra skin causes rash, chaffing, infections etc you MIGHT get them to cover. Best wishes to you!!!!!

Looked it up, fresh tattoos pose a risk of a possible skin infection and if it's too close to the surgery, most surgeons don't want to run the risk of an infection occurring with surgery.

Well, I was asked by the hospital when they scheduled my endoscopy and I thought it was odd so I asked around and a coworker said they can refuse surgery if you had a new tattoo. It sounds weird to me too. I thought I'd throw it out here and see if anyone had that be an issue. I will update if I get a solid answer. Lol

    Ditto
For those of you fresh out of surgery and doing well on the Patches, just be aware that you will likely not develop deficiencies within the first few months anyways, with or without supplements. Make sure you follow up with labs annually forever....it can take years for problems to arise.

Wow, she refused??? Crazy, if their fake she couldve just put them back on as soon as she got out of the hospital, now she could wait months for another surgery date. After jumping through all the hoops we have to, Id tell them cut them right off now.

I have mixed feelings about this as well.
I do not like being made to wait, but I think the six months can be beneficial as others have said.
I wish I didn't have to wait, I wish I could get the surgery and get on with it but that is not the case.
I am trying to use these six months to get myself mentally prepared for the surgery.
