  1. OK my one week post op #rny is tomorrow. The week before surgery I lost 17 pounds. But according to my home scales I've lost 2 pounds since surgery. ???? ???? ????. Before surgery I drank 3 Protein shakes a day and didn't exercise. The past 3 days I've increased my walking from .60 miles to 1.2miles today. I've gotten in my Protein and my Water for 3 days. I've not even gotten close to 500 calories since surgery. How have I not lost more than 2 pounds? I did notice when I was discharged that I had gained 6 pounds. So do I count that in my weight loss chart? This is stressful.

  2. Just had my surgery on the 12/27, went great. Stayed in the hospital for 2 days, and have my first follow up appointment this friday. Still having gas pains and struggling to get in the Protein, but i feel great. Also headed back to work tomorrow!! Will keep you all updated on this part of the journey! 2 Week pre-op diet......565lbs Day of surgery....526 Today is 504!!

I'm so jealous. I had rny on 12-28-16. Was 337 day of. 343 next day. And just now getting back to 337. Today was my first day getting all my fluids and Protein in. I added fage 0% plain yogurt and PB2 powder to 4oz of Premier Protein chocolate shake. Helped me get it down easier. Good luck ????

  3. After surgery your body is in a major heal mode. It is common for some individuals to be unable to meet their daily Protein or Fluid requirements for the first few weeks after surgery. Just keep trying every day and you should be able to get there.

The Fluid requirement is met by a combination of all the fluids you take during a day. It is not only the Water that you drink each day. But also the Water you drink when you take your Vitamins and medicine. It is the milk you drink. It is the fluids content of the Protein shakes. It is the water component of the Soups you take. It is met by flavored water such as Crystal Light. It is met by sugar free popsicles. It is met by tea and Decaf coffee. It is a combination of all the fluids that you consume during the day. It is common for your taste buds to change after surgery. I remember in the hospital after surgery I could not drink the water because it tasted very chlorinated. Some individuals find temperature (hot or cold) affects their tolerance for drinking fluids. In the winter, I found that I tolerate hot drinks such as piping hot cocoa. But you have to use the "No Sugar Added" variety. Also fine English teas were very good. More recently I found a drink at Sam's Club that I buy by the case called Bai.

There are many different types of formulations on Protein Shakes. I would recommend that you keep experimenting until you find one that you can tolerate. You don't have to like it, just tolerate it. I used Muscle Milk Light (Vanilla Creme) powder blended with water and a half a banana. That worked for me. But on the opposite end of the spectrum, you might try premixed Isopure.< /p>

Thank you, I didn't have that understanding that is is everything added.. I assumed it was after your protein just pure water. Now how long until I can use the bathroom?

Yes same here. Had rny on 12-28-16. Trying to get the protein and water in on full liquids stage. But no BM. Since before surgery. Pre op I was on milk of magnesia and Miralax. So I know I was cleaned completely out. But still nothing.
