sasharbinx reacted to dashofsunshine in Before and After Pics
Hey y'all!!
Long time, no talk - training for a half marathon and work has been insane lately!
My two year surgiversary was November 20th, and I tried on my old Cotton Ball dress because it was hanging in my closet, lol. (Cotton Ball is a southern cotillion ball - traditional thing with debutantes, etc. - I was 17 when I did it).
Left is from my wedding <3 that dress is a size 28; the one on the right is a size 8 (I'm a 6 generally, but bridal does run small!)
HW: 330
CW: 150

Ooooh, I just looked it up, it would for sure NOT be allowed on the plan I was on.
50 cals
12 carbs
10 sugar........EEEKK!!
I was told calorie free liquids only. That I was to EAT calories in order to stay full and satisfied longer. Plus there is no nutrition in it, so is empty calories.
That's the plan I was on, there are many others that work, and yours may have different guidelines, check with your NUT.

Is it carbonated? If so, it would be a no on my plan.

You get jealous of people eating and drinking Water, at the same time!

The Mint chocolate Chip is pretty good. You are supposed to let it sit out for 10 minutes or so, otherwise it can taste icy.

During a neighborhood BBQ, when I saw an acquaintance who used to be about the same weight as me, close to 300. She had lost like 160 lbs and looked great. She also seemed extremely happy.
I wanted that for myself, so I did something about it

sasharbinx reacted to ShelterDog64 in Not feeling much restriction
First, you can't really stretch a properly done sleeve. The stretchy fundus of your stomach is removed and what's left is very thick, dense tissue.
Do you feel restriction if you eat dense Protein, like chicken, beef, pork, hard cheese? Slowing down will help, for sure, as you'll give your body time to get the satiety signal to your brain. Are you getting all of your Protein daily, and your Water? I'm just over 6 months out and if I eat the protein I need and drink 64 oz of Water, I'm not hungry and definitely can feel restriction if I push even a spoonful past what I know fills me up. The things that DON'T trigger any restriction are carbs, almost all of the simple ones. I could probably eat crackers until I got tired of chewing them, soft cheeses, yogurt, anything sugary.
The best thing, IMO, is to clean up your diet (there's no way I could eat a slice of pizza right now, the dough would kill me) and get back to focusing on protein and fluids, and see if that helps with your hunger. Good luck, and you're doing great by your stats! You're almost at goal!

There is no normal range. Everybody body responds differently. Some loose a lot of weight fast, and others loose the weight very slowly. Continue to work the sleeve the way you've been advised by your surgeon and you'll be successful.

sasharbinx reacted to Postop in The three week stall
Maybe you want to stay away from the scale? I never knew about any stalls (or highs or lows) bc I only weighed at my surgeon's office during that first year. That was about every 3 months.
Just a thought.

I sincerely hope no one is judging her for her choice of profession, or her FB profile. Personally, I am all about making it work with what you've got! Clearly she has a strong sense of self confidence and I say MORE POWER to HER!
I worry more about her food choices and what they could do to her Healthwise. That's the ONLY issue here.

Yes I'll admit that I snickered! You are over thinking this a bit. If it can be mashed with a fork and it goes through then you are good to go.

sasharbinx reacted to JKC2016 in I am not a doctor, but... (post-op diet progression)
Wow. No cure for addiction does not mean no life absent our triggers. I know so many wonderful people living in recovery, including my mother with 21 years sobriety.
I am expecting to struggle with certain trigger foods (chocolate and baked goods for me) all my life. Avoiding them works best for me now, and very likely after the sleeve too.
The vast majority of us food addicts have successfully abstained many times. And eventually returned to these foods and/or beverages.
I love the original post on
N this thread. Thank you for the compassionate and clear reminder.

LOL. Yes, we'll see. I get frustrated like everyone else, especially when vets are getting attacked for simply trying to offer common sense. But I'm pretty stubborn. And very used to repeating myself, as I'm a parent and a RN. LOL.

I like to think there are people who just read and absorb, and don't get into the fray. I'm writing mostly for them. And from now on when this kind of post gets made, I'll link back to this one as my only comment and move along. LOL. sent from mobile device
