Thanks for the suggestion. The gastro doc told me that it was safe and to take 2x a day, which I have been doing for weeks. Hasn,t helped yet, so I think I will increase it to 3x. But the stuff ain't cheap and i'm spending easily 80 bucks a month on Miralax and Linzess combined.

I had my appointment with the surgeon and I received my blood work results since.
The surgeon was happy with the weight loss so far and explained that I should still be between 80g - 100g of protein and 800 - 1000 calories in order to still loose weight.
The blood work from my GP came back okay as well. I have another 19 panel test coming up in August, so that should have more detail. I'm assuming that between the meals and the optisource Vitamin twice a day things are taken care of.
Over all I seem to just be concerned over nothing at all. I am about 80g protein / 30g carb / and 40ish fat staying around 800 calories.

This is why I weigh and measure. I am one of the fast healers. I transitioned very quickly through the food stages and I can eat anything with zero issues at 8 weeks post op. I know I could eat a little more than I am, but I only eat 4oz at a meal.
I was able to exercise at 2 weeks post op and was walking 2 miles a day 4 days post-op.
I also wonder what this means for my success long term? I started running 3 weeks ago because I want to have a solid exercise routine in place for the long term. I am losing kind of slow, but the inches are coming off.

My sister is back at weight watchers years after her RNY she's gained about 50-60 lbs. She never found a healthy way to eat that she could sustain. Dumping disappeared and she was able to go back to eating chocolate and basically whatever she wanted. Portions increased. It's so clear we have to make this a permanent change ourselves. It scares me that I won't. Maybe it's good to be scared. Idk.

I never had Constipation. My doctor starts all his patients on stool softners post op day 1 as a preventative measure. I had surgery on a Thursday, came home Saturday. Had my first BM Monday.

You'll get there... I am just looking forward to the day when I can eat more then just 4 bites of a meal. Still not able to do more then that and at times frustrates me.. But from speaking with others they all say it will get better .
I've been told the first year is the worst... so over it..

Found a way to get fluids and Protein, and a treat. Ordered popsicle molds and made my own orange creamsicle. I use Bariatic Advantage Orange Cream shake mix (27g Protein) and use 8 oz of Fairlife nonfat milk (13g protein) instead of Water. Mix well in blender. Makes 6 popsicles. It's a little thick, so I could not drink it as a shake, but great as a frozen treat. I usually eat 2 (13g protein) or 3 (20g protein) at a time for a snack. Plus it's a Meal Replacement shake mix, so has other nutrients. Also made with Bariatric Advantage strawberry, chocolate and iced latte flavors.

Well, my Surgeon had no personality!! Good Surgeon but not good with follow up. I had my RNY July 2, 2013. My hubby had the same DR and was getting a Lap Band removed and gallbladder then be revised to a RNY. Well, the Band had eroded into his liver so he made a judgemet and backed oout. But...said that in 3 months he wuld do his WLS. He got abcesses and almost died!! He was so sick for 10 months and 3 monthsn he doesn't even remember. Do you know what that SOB did? He dropped him right in the middle of all of that. Finall, after all of this our PCP said, This has gone on to long!!! I am calling your Surgeon!! Of course I said NO!! I could just see the Surgeon hurting him (he used his scissors ith no Lidocain he shoved it into his open wound!! Because I had Strictures (scar tissue) I had 5 endoscopes with 4 diaations. So do you want to know what that SOB called us? He called us PROBLEM KIDS!! I fired him and went to another Bariatric Center. If you are not happy ith your Surgeon you can find someone to help you. I was told that no DR's want to clean up after another DR. I transfered my records and was done with him. I can not believe the HELL we went thru with him. Before we fired him we told them that we idn't want to see him again we would just see the PA there. So many others have ved him, he thought we were going to sue him over my hubby. He had 5 bacterias and I could see his intestines. Never fee like you are stuck with a DR. If you aren't happy call around and get someone else. Our lesson was learned the HARD WAY!! Good Luck

I may have lost more the first month because I did not have to do the pre-op liquid diet. I only lost 14 pounds in the 6 months of supervised diet needed for my insurance. So my body wasn't in shock already from two weeks of living on liquids.

I heard boyfriend. It is important to remember that at the "boyfriend" stage of a relationship you should be having fun. The relationship should be light and learning about each other and behaviors that you can and cannot live with are revealed. So important to think of it this way because it doesn't get easier when you are married. It gets much much harder. It is a reality that you are different. This new journey is for a lifetime and as you get healthier you will continue to change. He needs to expect that.

Hi all, I am 4 months into my 6 month pre op. I just met my surgeon today for the first time and am confused as ever. I had originally chosen bypass, but everything in me is telling me to do the sleeve. Today, he told me that he would do whoever I wanted but if I did the sleeve I would probably only lose 10 points off my BMI and would still be at a 40 (I'm a 50 now) he then told me I would have better results with bypass. I left feeling confused to say the least. Anyone have any words of wisdom for me? Personal experiences, similar experiences, etc?

I have journaled everything that has gone into my body since the first day of my six month pre-op diet program on March 21, 2016. I would not have had my success so far without it, and I cannot imagine not exactly tracking everything I ingest every day. Good luck to those who aren't tracking. I'd be very interested to see how you are doing a year or two from now...
