They remove the Gherlin by removing most of the stomach, that is what the surgery is. And the Gherlin part only lasts for so long, your levels go back up eventually, not to what they were pre-op but they go up.
By not having the full procedure, you are basically handicapping yourself. It is like buying 3 tires for a car. It is pointless. A well formed sleeve, once you heal has more capacity, eventually for some people up to 2 cups. If you have even less removed than other people you are going to end up with almost a full sized stomach in the end. You will just stretch the stretchy part out with over eating. With a sleeve you don't have that stretchy part left at all, that is how the restriction works.

If your biggest concern is being able to eat large meals post-op, then surgery isn't a good option for you. You aren't in the right mental place for it. You should be more concerned about your health than if you can eat a lot on family holidays. Think about what really matters to you long term.

I agree that taking only part of the stomach would be pointless. You are basically asking for the surgeon to leave you the ability to continue to same negative behaviors that made you fat in the first place. The removal of ghrelin helps in the early stages, but hunger comes back. If you can still back away a pound or more of food when that happens you will quickly regain everything you have lost.

I still can eat most of the foods I could eat before. I just eat a few bites, to enjoy the flavor, rather than mindlessly eat until it's gone or I can't fit anymore in.

I did not have any issues from day 1.
I was able to drink everything on my tray in hospital.
I did not vomit at all.
I rather get my liquids in and Protein than to wand up in the ER
    From dehydration.
If you are sipping more than stomach can hold at one time,
Your stomach will let you know.

I'm down 102 pounds, and I've been working on toning up. I don't have loose skin, but I could manage to tighten a few areas. I look good, feel great, and I can't begin to tell you all how amazing it feels!!!

caffeine dehydrates you and you won't hydrate properly. If your urine is dark its because you are straining your kidneys and thats the last thing you want to happen because your body is already going thru a drastic change.

genpro it's a powder , mixes well in almost everything. You can find it on line or at GNC. It doesn't have any flavoring andded to it. The only thing I found that it doesn't mix well with ice cold drinks.< br>

I love Unjury chicken flavored Protein Powder. Order online. Important to check the temperature of your Water to have 140 or a little less. Too high and the powder lumps.

    Lap-banded and love it!

Lean meats like chicken turkwy and fish are high in Protein. Protein powders I would watch the sugar and carb contents in them and make sure protein is high in them.

my mom is totally against it also, but at 55 I have tried to lose for the last few years, I would lose and regain over and over. I am totally healthy and there is no reason I should not have it. I'm looking forward to it and its going to be a rough ride at first but I really want my body back and get healthy at the same time no matter how many horror stories my mom comes up with.

Thanks for all the well wishes.
I am doing much better, and was released from the hospital after one night. I used the Biotine and ice chips for the dry mouth. I was given chicken broth, Jello, various Protein packets to mix in Water, and Decaf tea. But, I was only able to sip a few spoonfuls of the broth, and it took a while before I was able to drink the Liquid Protein. Now that I'm home, I will try to drink the Premier shakes and the other liquid protein that I have. Luckily I haven't had too much gas pain, my abdomen is sore on the right, but it's tolerable. I feel swollen and I'm sure I'm filled with fluids, so I don't expect to lose too much this first week, but feel really hopeful for the future of this journey.

Dr allowed regular coffee... pretty much right off the bat as one of my Clear liquids. I think some docs are okay with it. I drink my lil 4 ounces or so with some sf Creamer. I had no issues with hair falling out. I lost my weight really fast. It was kind scary. I am at a "normal" amount now a few pounds here and there but I lost almost 80 pounds in about 2 months which was super scary actually. I made sure I got my Protein in and was lucky to not lose hair. thank goodness I have thin fine hair as it is and can't really afford to lose any! I did notice... your body scent changes a bit so be prepared for it to be different. I have lsot the taste for many things ( including cigarettes which is a huge blessing) Trust your body listen to it weigh and measure your food and you will do wonderful

I have a scale that is helpful for measuring some things, but right now I mostly use measuring cups. I can eat about a half cup at a meal. More than that and I regret it no matter how much it weighed!
PS - cereal isn't the best choice. With so little room, Protein is far more important

It isn't about judging others. If you're going to post a question then be ready for real world answers. Do you want people to pat your hand and say "there, there...it's okay" or be honest about the real risks of not following your plan after surgery? This period of time needs to be a wake up call on the changes ahead. You'll find some of the most supportive people in the world on this site, but if you're going to say others are judging you when you aren't happy with their answer then I don't know what to tell you.
