Kaylamh got a reaction from Little LuLu in Letting go things I love
I want to encourage you by saying that the cravings get SO MUCH better after surgery. Honestly. You won't be giving up a glass of wine forever. My surgeon says that you can start incorporating alcohol back in at 6 mos, but they recommend waiting until you hit your goal. The food cravings really do go away.
Ask yourself: is pizza really worth your health? There are really good Pizza Crust substitutes that you can make with cauliflower that taste great and satisfy the craving. There is always a way around cravings. You can do this!

I've lost 32 pounds (3 weeks post) and still have the booty! I've gone down a band size and about half a cup size though :/

Honestly the pre-op diet was miserable anyway, so the last meal was worth it haha

@@PrettyThick1 where can you get a Bariatric Patient card? For your doctor? I didn't know that was a thing. I'd love to be able to order off of the kids menu haha

Kaylamh got a reaction from Amy'ssleeve in Depression
I had a 30 minute crying spell in the hospital the day after surgery. I've been moody as heck since surgery. Some of it was exhaustion, and just changes in my body, but a lot of it is the estrogen that my body was releasing from the fat loss. I asked my doctor about it, and was told it was normal. Maybe call the doctor and see what they recommend.

We went to The Melting Pot. I had never been and it was a super fun last meal! Started the next morning on pre-op liquids!

Syntrax Nectar is really good, and a nice change from the milky sweet stuff most of us are used to.

I also didn't rate my pain high enough. I've had debilitating Migraines my whole life, so my pain tolerance is pretty high. In hindsight, I should've called my 5 an 8when I first woke up. By the end of the evening I was sitting around a 5 or 6, and was down to a 4 the next day and went home that evening.

I had a DS, which involves your stomach being sleeved, along with some intestinal malabsorption. I had pretty bad gas pain, but to say it was intolerable for me would not be true. In the hospital it was tough, but walking helped a ton. It was a little worse when I got home and moved to full liquids. I slept propped up for a few nights, but once I was home I only used my pain meds at night. It lasts about a week (or 3-5 days) and then gets much better.
Don't let the pain scare you out of the surgery. It's more than worth it!

Use fair life milk as a snack. 13g in 8oz. Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt is good. I make chicken salad with Greek yogurt for the extra Protein. You could also add egg to chicken salad for a boost.

Kaylamh got a reaction from Hiraeth in Should I be upset?
When I was still on liquids, I always ordered a Decaf coffee, and used my Protein Shake as Creamer. It helped a lot to have something in my hands while people ate. Now that I'm in the puréed stage, we only go places where I can get chicken salad, eggs or refried Beans

Kaylamh got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Physical activity by day 6?
I was barely doing any to be totally honest. I started back walking around the neighborhood and a little bit of jogging yesterday at 3 weeks. I wasn't cleared for exercise for two weeks anyway.

Kaylamh got a reaction from Sai in Sashimi?
Hi everyone! So, I'm 3 weeks post op in my puréed phase. I start soft foods next Wednesday. I was curious as to when people started incorporating sushi back into their diet? I know not everyone likes it, but I really love sushi. Obviously the rice is a no-no, but what about sashimi?
I'm currently allowed to have flaky fish, so I feel like it might be okay now, but I wasn't sure about the raw aspect. I plan to email my Nut and ask, but I just wanted a few opinions here first!
