  1. Taco Bueno does put it to shame!!! Lol. It didn't last here in south Texas, but it had the best tortilla Soup ever. Pretty good calorie wise too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Artificial Sweeteners, not my cup of tea!

Monk fruit. This is new for me. I'll need to look it up. Like you I get the headaches....it's terrible isn't it. To me artificial sweeteners is poison. I won't touch it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Thank you for your input. I'm trying to change my diet now so it'll be a bit easier to move in to this phase. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Your diet is exactly what I plan to do. Thank you for confirming it's a way I can go! Great job on your lifestyle change btw. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I actually agree with you. Part of me is still following along with what I've always been taught. (Like you have to eat Breakfast, it being the most important meal of the day. I don't agree with this anymore--but that's another topic for another day). I'm open to change and will always seek more truth, whether to lose it slow or fast, how it affects us, etc. Whichever way, I don't know if I'll have much loose skin. I'm fortunate that it's pretty thick and springy now. I could always hide or have it surgically corrected. Overall, my health takes precedence over my physique. I'm here for my family. 6. Hmm...slow could be good I guess. Although I am making the change to go plant based (even now), it's slow but sure. Guess I should opt to keep fish and chicken in the game during my journey. Maybe fully plant based by the time I maintain. Well, I just mapped out my plan while responding. thanks for your input! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Artificial Sweeteners, not my cup of tea!

I was never one to be concerned with high fructose, etc. because I really don't have a sweet tooth, this don't eat/drink sweet stuff. I wouldn't think 1/2 a teas of a natural sweetener would do any damage. But as a precaution I'll definitely check with the docs. For sure, if they do cause dumping, then I'll steer clear. Just may be hard for the few times I actually want something sweet. Thank you for your input! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. Hi, I'm new here. Gathering a lot of info as to what to expect to getting sleeved. I have my first appointment of all appointments on Jan 19, 2017. I have yet to see or hear of anyone having a plant based diet after the surgery. I currently take juice Plus supplements in replace of Vitamins, etc. I'm also trying to change my diet to more plant based as well. Are veggies and fruits not tolerable? Is anyone getting their Protein intake from plant sources, i.e. Beans, etc? Sorry for the numerous questions. Just want to make sure it's doable. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Plant based diet

That's what I was thinking....why so much Protein? I'll read up on the basis of that, but it's almost inconceivable as to why we need so much after the surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Oh my Lord, if you see my question/topic floating around every page is because I had no idea where to place it!!! So sorry about this. I think I should have just started off in the general forum. So, posting for the third time.... Hi, I'm new here. Gathering a lot of info as to what to expect to getting sleeved. Plant based diet

Saturn, 80-100 grams is a lot of Protein in a day. Is that the norm? Yeah, from plant sources it's probably going to be a little harder, maybe. Depends on what I find. I've got a lot to look for. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Thank you Bufflehead for the info. I need to start making my lists of what I should have in regards to Protein. I do like eggs, shrimp, and chicken, but plan to keep it very minimal. Guess I'll be eating a whole lotta beans! But you say early on tends to be more bland diet items it seems. Well, as long as it's not forever right? Guess it depends on when the stomach can tolerate other foods. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  19. I wish I could be more open about it with everyone I know. Only my husband knows. Unfortunately, my sister had the bypass done and she gained it all back and then some (she also didn't take care of her mental issues that got her there). So, most everyone in my family will automatically equate my surgery with her's even though we are nothing a like. My mom has always been overweight and hasn't done anything about it. My dad has always been a fitness fanatic and is always about working out and eating right, doing it all on your own. My boss is a fitness competitor. She lives in the gym...I doubt she'll be supportive. So, I'll be skirting around the actual truth about why I need to be out. I just wish I could tell everyone but I know it wouldn't be well received. Pretty sad huh? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
