  1. Does anyone here know where someone can sell their vitamin patches if they don't need them any longer? Is there a group or a website somewhere? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Vitamins 🤢

When i started out i was only allowed chewable but no gummies. (yet) Took Bariatric fusion but it tasted disgusting to me. After 1 month my surgeon allowed me to take the gummies and i've never looked back. They're a bit sweet but better than anything else i've taken so far. I buy Costco's Kirkland adult gummies, or vitafusion women's gummies. Both have done a great job so far. Or if you want skip pills/chewables altogether can try the vitamin patches but some people say they don't work for them.

    Carbonated drinks

My surgeon's policy is no carbonation for life. I accidentally had a sip of 7-up once that i thought was water and spit it out right away. It tasted absolutely awful.

    3 Months Stall

@orionburn I'm trying my hardest to get in more water. I tend to have more bad days then good days and it's usually painful even drinking water. You are correct in regards to the low calories. I wasn't trying to cut my calorie intake that low but it unfortunately happened. Thanks for your input! @mylighthouse Thank you for telling me that! The last time i saw my surgeon he told me to eat between 600-800 calories a day. Protein goal of 60-80 grams a day, so i've actually been trying to follow his advice and do just that. I think you are right in regards to the calorie increase and i will try to up them a bit more. @Navigating the WildernessOn a given day i usually average anywhere from 1100-1600mg sodium.
  5. I really didn't want to do this since i mostly lurk and rarely ask. But i'm quite frustrated and just wondering if this is normal or not. So i know everyone talks about the 3 week stall, and that it's pretty famous around here. I experienced mine at 4-5 weeks. But is there such a thing as a 3 months stall? I've just experienced my second stall right now and have actually gained about 1-3 pounds. March 15th i weighed in at 244-245. As of march 22nd i've been at 245, then 246 on sunday, then today 247. Sometimes the scale will go back to 245 but it just jumped up again yesterday and today. So I guess my question is, is this normal? Will it pass? Or do i need to be concerned that this is it? I'm worried and upset because i have hypothyroidism and pre-surgery losing weight was nearly impossible for me. So my biggest fear is that i will end up stalling forever. I know stalls are normal, and i know i should be patient, but i am just scared that i'm still somehow sabotaging myself or that it's my fault this happened. The only things i've done differently the past 1 month is try to eat 1 oz of banana a day. *surgeon's recommendation* with 1 TBS Peanut Butter. And i've started doing a lot more walking and have been burning off about 200-350 calories a day. These are my for proper info. Sleeved December 7th, 2016 Pre-op diet weight, 12/4/16 - 315 Day of surgery weight - 300.4 January 17th meeting with surgeon weight - 273 February 28th meeting with surgeon weight - 259 Current weight - 248 Foods: String cheese, laughing cow cheese, cottage cheese, chicken, tuna, salmon, ground beef, turkey Jerky, cottage cheese, and a premier Protein shake. No pudding, no Jello, no crystal light, etc. Drinks: Water 40-50 oz a day. (surgeon requirement is min of 30 oz) food is tracked through Myfitnesspal, and typical day consists of about 500-700 calories. Protein grams are about 46-70 a day. Carbs are anywhere from 13-23, and fat is 30-45. On a good day is when i meet the higher calorie/protein goals. On a bad day it's on the low end.

    Omg so many pills

I know the feeling. I had to take almost the same exact ones as you 1 week post op. The multi vitamin chewables and the ursodiol were the worst for me. Maybe ask your surgeon if you can switch to something else that might make you feel better. I was allowed gummy vites after a month since i was having trouble with the chewable. Currently i'm doing gummy multi and chewable bariatric calcium/d3 gummies, but going to start using the patches soon as my stomach does not like pills after surgery. Chewable OR swallowed. Good luck, experiment, and hopefully you will find something you can easily take and tolerate.

    feeling discouraged

Everyone loses at a different rate. That's the most important thing you need to remember. I'm a slow loser too, and i'm currently on my second stall, and even though i get a little bit impatient it doesn't phase me one bit. I know the weight will come off eventually. You just need to be positive and think happy thoughts. The fact that you're even losing is awesome, isn't that the one thing so many people struggle to do and few can? Don't give up, just keep at it and it will only get better for you. Best of luck!

    Water?

Water hurt going down for me at first too. Even though i was taking very small sips. Eventually i discovered that drinking cold water was too painful. Before surgery i could only drink cold water, now i can only do room temperature water. It'll probably take you a while but the sensation does get better after a while. Good luck!
  9. I had a non surgery complication while in the hospital. I was sick before i had the surgery and only took two days of antibiotics, unfortunately that ended in a C.diff infection. I ended up staying in the hospital for 9 days until i was cleared to go home. I lost about 11 pounds during that week.

    Vitamin pills...

For my Surgeon, he said chewable or liquid only vitamins for the first 6 weeks. After that pill form if i desired. Unfortunately i have always had trouble swallowing pills, but the last two years it has gotten increasingly worse. To the point that i nearly vomit when i swallow a pill or capsule, unless it's super tiny. So i stick to the chewables for now.

    Cold water obsessed

I love cold water! It's the only thing i've been able to drink and enjoy post-op. My surgeon allows crystal light, any diet see through drinks, and even snapple. But i've tried all of them and they're way too sweet for my liking. So i just stick to my cold cold Water. Tastes great and no sweetness.

    Puree stage

I was sleeved December 7th but I'm currently 3 weeks into my pureed stage and i actually like it. I was started a bit earlier than other people for specific reasons. I LOVE pureed eggs lol. They are so yummy and are one of the two foods that got me through the past few weeks. My doctor's plan for pureed stage allowed scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, hummus, refried Beans, and creamy soups. He also gave me the go ahead to eat string cheese, but i bite into it. I do not handle soups well so i stick to what i like. For the person who said they can't do pureed eggs, it's really simple. My mom makes me a soft boiled egg and then she purees it in the blender with a laughing cow wedge and a sprinkle of black pepper. It comes out delicious and i love it. Comes out to 2.1 oz or so (i weigh everything), but i can usually eat only half. I absolutely love the laughing cow cheese, and i think it can be a major helper to anyone's diet. They have like 10 flavors and i'm sure there's something for everyone. My favorites are french onion, light swiss, white cheddar, and spicy pepper jack. All delicious with an egg. You can also mix and match, depending on how your tummy handles certain foods. I sometimes mix my egg with hummus, or salsa, or fava beans, or refried beans with salsa...and so on. I have followed my surgeon's instructions to the letter and have really enjoyed this stage. Much better than liquids for me. And since i've been doing so well, he gave me the green light to start trying soft foods on Wednesday. Tuna, salmon, tilapia, crab meat, and shrimp....can't wait! It's definitely a process, and sometimes it can be frustrating, but if you can find a way to make something you'll like and stick with it, it will go by quickly.

    Shakes

Do you live near a costco? They carry Premier Protein there. It's the only one i tried pre-op and am still on it post-op. I only bought the chocolate and that's the one i drink, but they gave me the vanilla while i was in the hospital and it was ok, but it's way too sweet for my liking. To me it felt like i was drinking coffee Mate. That was with ice too lol. If you want to try a small case first, Walmart carries all 5 flavors. So far i've only tried the two mentioned above, but they also have strawberries n cream, bananas n cream, and caramel. On the list my surgeon's office gave me they recommend, Premier Protein, Muscle Milk, EAS, and Isopure. I hope you can find something you like. Best of luck to you!
