  1. We are so close! I can't wait. We should keep in touch and keep each other posted on our progress! It's great to have cheer leaders that know and feel what you're going through! I'm following you on here. Wow that sounds like I'm a freakin stalker! LOL! It will let me know when you post. Take care and prayers and good luck to you!
  2. Hello! I do not have Cigna, but I was required to do a 3 month doctor supervised diet with mine. I know with some if you have worked on weight loss in the last year with your doctor it helps with approval. Your visits have to document your height and weight, show you discussed a diet plan, show you discussed an exercise plan, and your diagnosis has to state obesity. Im not sure that Cigna does this, but it's worth asking your bariatric office to see if they can assist you. I don't know if this helps you, but just thought you might need some general information. Good luck and take care!
  3. Hey y'all! I'm in Copperas Cove, Texas. I'm not having the sleeve, but I'm having the RNY. My surgery date is June 21. I'd love to have people to chat with about our WLS lives in Texas!
  4. If you are having trouble with protein and liquids you could try unflavored protein powder. You can add it to crystal light and such and it will up your protein intake. Also, you can try protein water. These are clear liquids with up to 20 grams of protein and it kills two birds with one stone. I get my protein water at LuckyVitamin.com. The nice thing is you can order single servings, so you can see if you like and tolerate them. Then, you can order more if you like it. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon.

    Nausea and headache

If you are that weak, dizzy, and nauseous it's a sign you are dehydrated. This can get serious. I would go to the ER for IV fluids. They can get you back on track. It will help the nausea and dizziness. Don't feel like you failed because of this. Once they get a couple liters in you, you'll feel much better. Take care. Keep us posted. Feel better.
  6. Yay!! My RNY isn't until 6/21/17, but I've been thinking the same thing!! It's very exciting. Good luck to you! Take care!

    Total Frustration...

I'm sorry you are going through this. I had a situation with getting medically cleared. I'd call the office and get the run around from 2 of the receptionist. I then asked them to speak to their supervisor ASAP. Things got moving faster after I spoke with her and finally got my surgery date. I waited from 2/23/17 to 4/20/17 to get medically cleared. Then, I had to wait for approval, but found out I do not require prior approval per my insurance. I finally got the date on 5/3/17. 4 months of craziness. Take control of your healthcare. Remember that the therapist works for you. Call his office to talk to him directly. One other thing, you can request to see him and not the intern. Your insurance will get billed with the therapists rate not for seeing an intern. You are entitled to see him since you are paying to see him. If you need to, request an appointment with him and tell them you do not want to see any interns. The intern sounds like she doesn't much care about your surgery. Call there every day if need be until you get ahold of him. That's what I did and it worked. You can do this! Take care and God bless. And keep us posted![emoji3]

    Liquid diet breakdown

Sorry you are having such a hard time. If you need to chew something you could crush on some crushed ice. Be creative and make them with flavored water or protein water. That might help. Also, get some SF Popsicles. It's a hard road here, but you have all our support and caring. Keep your chin up and remember why you are doing this. Good luck and bless you. You can do this!

    Post op support

Hello, I'm preop RNY, but I have had a number of abdominal surgeries and was told not to drive for about 72 hours due to the drugs used to sedate you for surgery. Also, do not drive while on pain meds either. I would ask the Doctor about the driving, they will give you the info you need. Every surgeon is different when it comes to post op care. Good luck!

    "Final" weigh in

Congratulations! You've worked hard to get here! It will go by fast, believe me. My surgery is less than a month away and it seems like a lifetime to get here. I started on 11/2/16 and that seemed like it took forever to get there. Now, it's already the end of May! Wow! Keep your spirits up and before you know it you'll have a surgery date! Good luck and take care.[emoji3]
  18. I also agree with these ladies. I'm pre op with a surgery date of 6/21/17 and I've read books, gone to support meetings, and chatted on these forums. I've done all of this for the last 3 years. I came to my decision for GB due to research and Doctor recommending. I have severe GERD and per my EGD I have some esophageal erosion. The sleeve will most likely make all that worse. Also I need this WLS to keep me in check for the long term. Keep doing your information gathering and make an educated decision. Good luck with which ever you choose! Keep us posted!

    "Final" weigh in

I'm still pre op and I really try not to weigh myself more than once a week. My surgery is 6/21/17 and I have a similar situation. Last week I was down over 20 pounds from my highest weight and this week I'm 11 pounds. I don't have to lose a certain amount for surgery, but I'm trying to get into the losing groove. I have noticed that I've lost inches even though I haven't lost pounds. Remember to that you are working out more and lean muscle weighs more than fat. Keep hydrating like you are and maybe watch your carb and sugar intake and increase your proteins. I've done that and it helps a lot and it helps you get used to how you will need to be post op. You sound like you've been through a lot to get where you are today and I commend you for that. You seem strong and that will help you in the long run. Good luck with your appointment! Keep us posted on how it goes! You can do this! Just know you're not alone here! Take care!
  20. June 21st here too!

    Gastric bypass

Your surgeon would be the one to ask. Every doctor is different, but yours should have given you instructions to follow post op. If you are unsure, just call your doctor and ask them what you are to do. Many doctors want you on liquids go a couple weeks to let the staple line of your stomach heal. Please call your surgeon, so you get a proper answer. Good luck.

    Waiting Game......

I was in a similar situation like yours. I was done with my prerequisites 2/23/17 and I just got my surgery date a week and a half ago. It took my surgeon 4 weeks just to medically clear me. I called once to three times a week to keep them working on it for me. Almost 4 weeks later, calls to the office manager, calls to the doctors secretary, and finally after getting the run around I called my insurance company. At this point I was told by my doctors office that we were waiting on my insurance approval for the past 4 weeks, but that was a lie. I called my insurance to see if my approval was pending. I was then told that my policy does NOT require prior approval and that my doctor was notified of this about 3 weeks ago! Needless to say it was a painful 4 months! I won't bore you with every detail. My experience is that you need to stay on top of this and call both your doctors office and insurance to make sure someone doesn't drop the ball. I'm now scheduled for June 21st, after the marathon my dr made me run! Remember that your doctor works for you and you are your own advocate for your health care. Keep calling! Take care and good luck with your surgery!
  24. You look FABULOUS! My divorce was finalized in January. I tell everyone that I lost 220 pounds since he left! You are beautiful and strong! God bless you!
  25. I want to feel comfortable in my own body. I want to feel energized and up to do anything. I want to be able to be there for my daughters. One is 21 and the other is 19. I want to be around to see them get married and have grand babies I can spoil. Most of all I want to be healthy again and happy.
