I'm still on Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids post surgery. I get a gurgling and bubbling up my throat when I need to stop drinking for a few minutes to let it go through. Very weird and noisy!

Considering how many times I've flipped from fat to thin, I feel compassion mostly.
But it seems that we are most critical of traits we see in others that we dislike in ourselves. So I guess his disdain is a reflection of his fear of going back to being that fat guy again.

It's the same brain mechanism that allowed us to get obese in the first place. Remember that feeling of catching a glimpse of yourself in a store window or a mirror you weren't expecting and being shocked that the fat person was you? Or seeing pictures and not believing you looked that fat when you got dressed that morning? Our brains have a recorded vision of ourselves that takes a while to overwrite with the new version of you. Give it time and the person in your brain will start to mirror the thinner person you are now. I read a while back it takes about 6 months to replace that mental image with the new you.

Something made him not care enough about himself or his health to not stop at 50, 100, 200, 300++pounds overweight. He ate in spite of knowing it could kill him any day. I think that deserves some exploring. You don't have to blame someone else to gain a better understanding of your own self-destructive behaviors.

Don't eat baby food! It's gross, and making pureed food you will like without all the carbs is really easy.

Totally normal. My feelings are on a rollercoaster now. I'm 6 weeks post op with the sleeve and go from feeling like myself to feeling depressed and back throughout the day. It's so much to get used to and the way we lived before, while containing elements of the destructive, was easier. I believe this will get easier too. It's awesome that you have a therapist lined up. I couldn't do this without mine.

I had tuna and salmon nigiri for dinner (I'm a few days into being cleared for all foods, six weeks out on Wednesday). It was only 2.5 pieces (3rd piece no rice, just fish), but it all settled well and tasted good.

Take advantage of those 4 months. The first year is the easiest to lose. Take a hard look at what you're eating. Cut out simple carbs and focus on eating your Protein first, then non starchy veggies.

Anyone else have this? In past weight loss attempts when I lost a lot of weight, I also lost hair. Right before my hair started shedding, I would find my scalp hurt, or like my hair hurt when I moved it. I looked it up and it's called trichodynia. It's like that feeling when you've had your hair up in a ponytail for too long then take it down. I was bummed when it started hurting day before yesterday. Here we go!

You're at the worst part of this. I think you can ask to bow out gracefully given the circumstances.

Honestly given the things I've read of people eating here early days after surgery, I absolutely don't think we can. I won't list them to not embarrass anyone, but it can be mind boggling. It's not safe to assume anything about what anyone thinks is destructive or counter productive.

I don't think surgery means never having ice cream again. But 18 days out? To say anything that encourages backsliding that early to foods that got us to qualify for this surgery in the first place would be irresponsible.
