I just had a four ounce filet cooked medium rare, courtesy of yours truly! It took 2 sessions to finish, but it was delicious. No problems! It honestly goes down more easily than chicken.

So I'm wondering if anyone has tried them or discussed with your dr. I'm trying to simplify this as I feel like I'm obsessing about Water, Protein and Vitamins.
Yeah, if I could just plug in an IV line every few days, that would be great too. ????

Thanks everyone! I might try them. At least I won't forget them. One of my biggest ones I forget is Iron. I don't take it when I take the rest of them because you can't take Iron and Calcium together or the Iron won't absorb. And that's a pain.
Anyway - any other input is much appreciated.

I just ordered the Iron ones. They say they are non-constipating. That is just one of my issues with the Iron. If this could be the solution, I will be happy.

    Hey everyone,
There's an article on MSN today about 2017 Winners: Half their size....It's basically before and after photos with a quick summary of how these people literally lost half their size in weight. and Idk why but while I was reading through it, I started getting really pissed off. They pretty much listed every popular 'diet' they mention this one did weight watchers and walked or that one did Jenny Craig and 30 min cardio oh she tried Atkins.< /p>
NEWSFLASH!!! That's not typically the norm. These diets don't help people stay in shape and once in a very blue moon do these diet help people lose 100+ lbs. I've done weight watchers before and yes I've lost weight on it, I actually lost a lot of weight....but guess what...here I am now, overweight again!!
Idk why I was so pissed by the article, maybe it's because anyone that reads it would assume that that's the "winner's" way to lose the weight? Why wasn't there a person that did the bypass or sleeve or band a part of the 2017 winners?
I'm on day 7 of my liquid pre-op diet and it's not easy! It's required more self control than any other diet I've every done and once I'm done with these 14 days, guess what, I have another 14 days...yipeee....then I go back 35 years and eat baby food for a few weeks....oh such fun, does it sound easy to anyone yet? NOOOOOO! And maybe one day, in a time far far away from today, I'll be able to chew some solid food...or even have a piece of meat and dare I say, even a nut?
    MSN....you suck!
Rant over, thanks for letting me lose it for a sec there.

TXJess reacted to Moorekat in 94 lbs. down and over 6 feet of inches gone!
Hi everyone. I haven't been on here for a long time. I thought I'd just update my photos and info and decided to share my photos with you. I had Gastric Bypass Feb. 2nd, 2016. I have lost 94 lbs. so far. I hit my surgeon's original goal weight of 151 on Dec. 28th but I have lost a little muscle mass and now my goal is 143. So I have a little ways to go still. I have had no issues other than getting my gallbladder removed a couple months after my WLS. I have lost over 6 feet of inches. I went from 244 lbs. to 150 today. I've gone from a 2X shirt and 18 pants to a S/M shirt and size 7/8 pants. I went snow skiing for the first time yesterday. I never would have been able to do that before losing this weight. I am so Thankful that I had this surgery. It has changed my life and also how I want to live it! Here's a few pictures for ya.

you should be getting about 800 calories right now. you mentions isopures flavour. I cut it in half with Water and that way I can tolerate the taste and still get in my Protein as I sip away. hope this helps

Oh thank you all for replying. I'm almost 5 weeks out and I'm at about 500-600 but can't get the minimum Protein with this amount of calories. I've gotten my Protein by increasing closer to 750 but was worried I was eating too much. I'm lucky that I've had no issues and anything I eat sits well.

    Well, 3 months + 1 week
I can feel the beginning of carb/sweets cravings. I've gotta get this in check asap.
So I decided to cut and paste my "before" and "now" pics side by side. I may need to tape this to my fridge. Unlike many, I've felt hunger, real hunger from very early on. I seemed to heal quickly and have had absolutely zero intolerances. I'm quickly finding out that I like sweet stuff way too much. Thought I had more control than this. No regrets, but no illusions either, this is going to be work for the rest of my life, sigh.
For now I'll take solace in each little victory. I've been telling my husband I don't think I look all that different, but the side by side pics are an eye opener and good for continued motivation.

I was worried right up until they wheeled me into the OR. (I had never had any kind of surgery in my entire life.) But it was nowhere near as bad or scary as I had built it up to be in my mind. In fact, the entire experience was pretty easy. Yes, I felt really lousy for the first two days post-op. Really lousy. But, by Day 3 post-op, I started feeling better and getting back out in the world again. And I recovered quickly.
My advice is to see what the requirements are, get started immediately (choose low-carb or something that works for you and see what you can take off pre-op), and then follow your plan exactly post-op. You will lose weight and you will be successful. I am living proof of that.
    Good luck!

@@My Bariatric Life that is so rough. That is quite a lot of issues. Have you done research on fecal transplants for those conditions? It sounds so gross, but there are currently studies going on for all sorts of auto-immune diseases (like Celiac), and they have great results. I'm not conspiracy-minded, but it doesn't get a lot of press because of big pharma. Until they can put it in a capsule, there won't be a lot of press or doctors who use it.
I had C-Diff for about six weeks. It was miserable. I did so much research to figure out how to not only get rid of it, but to keep it from recurring. In fact, one of the reasons I opted for the surgery were some studies indicating that the surgery helps to reset and "fix" the gut bacteria.
I really hope that you get some relief soon. It is miserable.

I'm one month out and get about 600 calories per day on a good day. But, I've been struggling to get in my Protein. The shakes make me sick. The Isopure flavor is overwhelming. I hate the texture of unflavored Protein. I tried a Protein Bar and it took me 45 minutes to eat 1/2 of it.
    Sigh.

I have always thought this way. It's upsetting when I finally see a full body photo or see myself in a full length mirror. I've always had the "fit girl stuck in a fat body" thinking. I wonder? those of you who feel this way as well, were you once fit and trim too? Athletic? Healthy for a long period of time before gaining the weight? This was me. Maybe we don't associate ourselves with obesity as we would have if it's been years of being obese? Our minds can't connect until we see the reality? Guess this is something I should talk/share about in my psych eval, huh?

It's ketones. Means you are burning fat. It doesn't go away while you are in fat burning mode. My dr. Said sugar free hard candy was better than gum. Gum can cause gas. Anyway, lots of Water will help clear them too.

Just like people who fight over natural child birth vs. an epidural. Whatever - at the end you still have a baby. Other than that, it should be what works for the person.
I actually didn't have the surgery to lose weight. I can do that without surgery. What I have been unable to do in the past 15 years is KEEP IT OFF. When I tell people that, anyone who has ever dieted understands that struggle.
BUT, I do think it is a disservice to pitch WLS as a magic bullet, miracle cure. I hope doctors educate people that this is not the case because there is the same hard work to lose the weight as if you didn't have the surgery.

So sorry for all of you not tolerating food yet. Bariatric Advantage has some Protein Soups that are good. I ordered these Protein Shots I'm getting tomorrow. In less than two ounces you get 20 grams of Protein. I'll update after I get them. I'm hoping it works since volume is my problem.

Hi everyone. My surgery was 12/27. I'm just now getting past the pain in my side. It's still sore, but at least the stabbing pain is gone.
So weird how different diets are. I've been on soft foods starting two weeks out. It's lots of foods. Just no dense Proteins like kids e chicken breast or steak, no raw fruits or veggies, no nuts, no rice, Pasta or bread.
I'm ok with foods, but I've also over eaten a few times and been sick. I can eat only about two ounces over thirty minutes. Fish has been my friend. eggs don't agree with me, but it's not horrible. I still can't eat an entire scrambled egg.
Weight loss is great. I'm happy with that. But the best thing is to be rid of the pain. That will wear you out.
