    I have ZERO restriction now...

I flew and definitely felt more restriction before and after my flight. You should not eat for 2 hours before or after flying either. I would say the day after my flights I had very light eating days, like only being able to eat a couple of bites at each meal!!

    I have ZERO restriction now...

Well, they have slowly added the fluid back in and I'm restricted again, but not as much as before.... I can't wait to get to where I was in January. I lost like 15 pounds in January!! I ended up gaining 3 pounds during this problem phase, but am now just back to where I was before... annoying, but oh well. I have an entire lifetime to fix this issue.

    Anyone here not losing?

I have had great success since August, but there was a problem with my last fill, which resulted in an unfill, and two more fills since then. I finally have restriction again but have not lost in over a month. It doesn't help that I sort of stopped exercising... I also took a "break" and enjoyed steak, bread and other foods during the last few weeks. But I am well restricted once again!

    Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge

I was one lb away... I went in for a fill, and there was a problem and I was unfilled... I went back and was filled halfway, now I am back up to 200. I am going in again in another week and they will fill me back to where I was before. So... bummer. However, I had the BEST and most ROMANTIC valentine's day of my LIFE so not all was lost!!!!!! And my SO loves my body as it is, so 5 pounds in the short term won't be that awful, though I want to lose it soon! Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be back down after I am filled once again.
  5. Well, more pictures to share! Things are going great for me and I'm feeling fantastic! February 2009, weighing 195 August 2008, probably around 265?

    I'm doin' it!

I registered for the Race for the Cure 5k... very excited but now also nervous. I have been loosely doing the Couch to 5k program for a month, but am still not running 1 mile without stopping to walk. Now I looked at the real 5k training schedule and it's 5 days a week! 3 miles, on Tues, Thurs, Fri, 2 miles on Wed and 4 miles on Sun.... OMG! What did I get myself into????

    Dating

Another Update.... I have met and INCREDIBLE woman. We have amazing CHEMISTRY and we want the same things out of life. She is accomplished in her career, intelligent, family oriented, totally is into me as much as I am into her and things are just fantastic. I totally attribute it to the band, because without it I never would have been comfortable enough to put myself out there. So, this has been a success story!!!! Yay for the band!!!! (Oh and we met online, despite living in a gay mecca! Since both of us are more family/career oriented, we never would have met at a bar!)

    Fast food!

I have had some serious problems with PBing from fast foods like nuggets. The only fast food I eat now is taco bell. I eat the mexican pizza, or just a regular taco. That usually is fine. I also like Taco Time and like their crisp burritos. Even a soft tortilla is bad on my stomach now. I definitely avoid all kinds of breads, including hamburger buns.

    Do you miss fast food?

I really don't miss fast food... however, i do eat at taco bell in an emergency. A crisp taco seems to be something cheap and easy for me to eat if I need food and can't get something home made or from some place else.

Plus-Size Photos in Latest Albums Section

I'm glad she posted those photos.... as someone who is still in the process of this journey, I appreciate that there is art that depicts women other than the skinny minnies.

    Wanted: Loser!!

This isn't my entire WL because I didn't track until I got down to 241. But is shows my progress since then. You can see there are a lot of plateaus and even some gains. This is a better graph than the one from ticker factory because I only update that when I lose weight. This one I update weekly, gain, lose or stay the same. Usually when I haven't lost for awhile, I will wake up one day with a 3-5 lb loss. But most of the time it's a pound a week or so.
  15. I only see the scale move every 2-3 weeks. But it's usually 5 lbs or more. YOu're fine. It looks like you're eating well and doing fine. So just keep at it. Are you working out? I have had to adjust my calories as I work out more or I am not getting enough calories to actually lose weight.

    Alcohol

I can drink beer, but won't do it again unless it's some special beer. I preferred other drinks even preband. But I was surprised that it did not upset my stomach. I recently put some mike's hard lemonade in the fridge with the lid off and let it go flat. OMG it was GOOD!!!! I don't want to drink carbonation, but I have had martinis, wine, cranberry vodka, screw drivers, etc. Some how I have started to drink MORE since being banded, because I am socializing more. However, I can only have half a drink and I'm totally drunk.

If I had my time again.....?

Getting the band was the best thing I have ever done in my life. I'm serious. This has changed the way I feel about food, think about food, how I see myself, how I see my body, what I know I can do and what I know I will be able to do in the future. I would never go back... I just wish I had done it sooner!
  18. On inauguration day I went to a party and probably ate 1700 calories! Then yesterday I only had about 700. Most days I try to eat about 1100.

So I'm eating what I want but just in small amounts. Some days I get in 50 grams of protein, some days I get in 80. I am not super strict with myself because I like to eat and want to be able to eat what I want. I feel like it works for me. What I do NOT do (but did for awhile) is eat a lot of food in one sitting, just because I can. I really limit all my intake to about 1/2 cup of food, no more than a cup. If I'm still wanting more after that, I just stop. Besides, I might PB, so I don't want to eat too much.

I hope this was helpful. Email again if you want!

  19. I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I don't know why you haven't lost much. We started out about the same.

I'm exercising a lot (run 3x a week, swim 4x) but I only started running recently. I started out doing water aerobics 3x a week, then switched to laps (burns more cals) and now have added in running.

In terms of food- I really don't know why I'm losing. I don't eat fantastically. But I track EVERYTHING I eat on calorieking.com My calories change dramatically day to day. Most of the time I'm somewhere around 1100, but that's only because of the exercising I think.

I wish I knew how to help you! I would say write down EVERYTHING you eat so you can look for patterns, and then begin exercising if you haven't already.

When I stopped losing for awhile, I tried to find out what I was doing wrong. I ended up increasing my calories and proteins.

    Hope this is helpful!

    Calorie count

There are free programs, but i looked and like calorieking.com They track Protein, Fiber, carbs, etc. in each food. You can also get a mineral and Vitamin report on the foods you're eating. I really like it a lot. Plus you can track all your exercise and everything in it.
  21. I've seen ppl post about this before... so I thought I'd let everyone know, it's NO PROBLEM. My doc said not to eat 2 hrs before take off, so I didn't. Also, on the flight I did eat (since it was a 6 + hour flight.) I drank 5 oz of orange juice and a few hours later had some chips. I would say be careful but go ahead and enjoy traveling!
