  1. it is perfectly normal. your body is reacting to the trauma of surgery. in fact you will probably have several periods like that in the next few months but it will all work out and then the great times will come. just hang on.

    Self Pay in the U.S.

just be very sure to have aftercare lined up. the surgeons in florida will not see you If you had surgery in mexico. I had to have the hospital records after I moved here from ky to PROVE I had the surgery in the us. good luck to you.

    Skin Tags

im a little confused are we talking skin tags like the little wart like things that pop up from time to time or are we talking the hanging skin ( called an apron.) skin tags can be cut off but the hanging skin needs to be removed by a surgeon. that is what insurance may or may not take care of.

    Burping

usually it means you are swallowing air. when you chew up your food or take a sip of water force the air out before you swallow. it will take practice to become a habit but will really help

    Gastric bypass on 11/14/16

    Calf Pain

you may have pulled a muscle. you did not mention if you have started exercising. sometimes with the lack of activity our muscles are weak and when we start exercising they are easily damaged temp. also be sure you are getting your protein ( for your muscles) and taking all your vitamins. good luck to you

    Post surgery Meds

the lethargy is normal after surgery. I see that your surgery was in jan so you are very new to this. the pain meds should be taken only when you need as well as the fiber and lax. I have been taking omeprazole for 13 years and it prevents acid reflux and the ulcers that can come from this. also the gall bladder meds are very important. I had my gallbladder taken out 2 years ago and the surgeon said that there was a high percentage of bariatric patients who have to have the gall bladder removed after a few years. did not understand the correlation but he explained it in detail. as far as the meds it is something you will have to become use to. we all have to take lots of vit. and supplements because the surgery leaves our digestive systems where they do not absorb the things we need from foods. I sure wish you luck. you may want to have a discussion with your nurse or nutritionist at your follow up appts.

    Are calorie counts okay?

you will quickly stop eating so much once you hit solid food stages. the slider food go right thro so the calories really cant be counted as your body does not absorb them much. just keep up the Protein and get the Water so you don't dehydrate good luck to you

some insurances will pay and some wont even with documentation of rashes etc. check out your company for the true facts and what is needed to get it approved.

    Regrets and hormonal

hang in there there will be many more days like this along the way. try to keep busy to keep your mind off the worry and remember you did exactly right in reaching out. we are all in this together

    Feeling full

don't push it. you will start to feel more later on in the journey. solid foods will help you feel full. liquids and pureed foods are slider foods and go thro quickly so you don't get the sensation of fullness but still can dump if you swallow too much too quickly.

My new not so new stomach

hang in there it will get better. I am 13 years out and there is very little I can not eat. sometimes I wish for the old days when my eating was more limited but I have never regrated it for a moment.

Rule of thumb on lab tests?

I am 13 years out and in the same boat. moved so had to find a new surgeon. the following list is what they have asked me to get at the lab. 1.iron 2.vitamin d 3.vitamin B 12 4.calcium 5. thiamine ( Vitamin b 1) 6. selenium 7. zinc 8. copper the list includes the normal ranges and what the symptoms are if you are deficient in each one. hope this helps you. my primary dr would not do the necessary tests saying they were not necessary so I had to find a dr who was more familiar with bariatric patients ( she has a family member who had the surgery so listened to me)

    Regrets and hormonal

your body has gone thro a shock. it is normal just ride thro it. in the end you will not regret the surgery

    Alcohol

I personally do not wish to risk it. there are tons of non alcoholic drinks available that I can drink while everyone else drinks. they taste great and I can keep the calories low. alcoholics will tell you you can have a great social life without the alcohol if you turn out to be one of the folks whose new tummy will not accept it.

    Steak

I just cant eat beef unless ground. I will admit to sucking on a piece of steak once just for the flavour ugh.
  18. you should be getting about 800 calories right now. you mentions isopures flavour. I cut it in half with Water and that way I can tolerate the taste and still get in my Protein as I sip away. hope this helps

    Birth control!

I have heard that it can happen for the first two months( use a back up plan during this time) but after that if you are taking them and don't miss any there is only a one percent chance of failure. you might want to talk to you obgyn or the nurse to verify this. good luck to you

    Waiting still waiting

I am 13 years out and maintained a 105 lb loss for 12 years. then my sister ( last living relative except for cousins with whom I am not close) died. this year I have put back on 20 lbs from night time poor me eating but thank GOD I woke up at 20 lbs. I started back to the support groups joined overeaters anon for the emotional eating and went back to the basics of the food program. I have taken off 15 lbs in two months and plan to get the rest off ( now that Christmas is over lol) yes it does work but it is a tool and I will always have a tendance to gain weight because I like the carbs best. if I stick to the rules I can keep the weight off it is a lifestyle change and it must be followed for your lifetime. I weigh once per week because I am one of those people who eat to Celebrate if I lose and beat myself up if I gain or even stay the same. hope this helps and best of luck to you

    Stall Over

I am sooooo happy for you. it is such a terror when they happen but it is a part of the journey. our bodies need time to catch up but it sure frustrates us. glad you are back on the road to losing.

    Alcohol

is there a way to block someone from your feeds. frankly this line has disturbed me. I thought this was a safe place to say anything but in a kind supportive and non-judgemental way. this got nasty and defensive quick thanks

    Alcohol

most drs say one year. no carbonation so no beer. the real risk is that you become drunk faster and the long term risk of transferring the food addection to that of alcoholism.
  24. Martha Parker-mcneal

    Always staining

I agree. I probably has nothing to do with your rny. prayers with you I know I must be tiring to have to put up with that.
