  1. Pulled the muscles in my chest wall again.  This time climbing during a hike.  I get so frustrated when this keeps me out of the gym for a few days.   Working so hard to build these muscles up so that this becomes less and less of a problem.  Any tips?

  2. Just posted yesterday that I need 7lbs to reach 100 lbs lost. and that was in response to someone else stuck at 89. Rest easy, there you are one of many.
  3. I'm with you. I float between 90lbs down and 93lbs down. I still have another 60 that I want to lose. I work out 6 days a week and eat under 1200 calories a day. Not sure what is happening, but I guess I'll just focus on getting stronger and hope the weight loss comes on it's own.

    Thinning hair?

Mine began at 3 months out and it was falling out alarmingly fast. I have naturally thick hair, so it was only something I noticed, no one else seemed to bat an eye at it. Regardless, I immediately started taking 10,000 mcg of biotin everyday and I continue to do so. I'm just over 9 months out now and I'm starting to get some major regrowth. Good Luck!

Best and Worst of the Soft Food Phase

Over 9 months out and cottage cheese is still my best friend...lol. I also ate a lot of eggs, I could have tuna and white fish on my soft foods diet, so there was a lot of that as well.

    Vitiams

I've done them, my nutritionist told me NOT to use them, but I did anyway. There was never a problem with my blood work.

    Shame

I can understand how you feel. I wrote a blog for 8 years about busting my butt to lose weight and promising myself that I would never have surgery. Well, last year I had it. My only regret now is that I let myself get in my own way for 8 years. It's ok to have emotions about it, but dang...you're doing something, the only shame is in the not trying.
  8. They say "You can run, but you can't hide."  You know what?  If I hide, I can't run and NOTHING beats the feeling of the wind on my face!

    Gastric Sleeve Regret

yep, 9 months out and I drink 80-100 oz per day! Keep fighting the good fight.
  10. A lot depends on your body composition. I carried most of my weight in my abdomen, so at 197lbs, I still have a large pannus which makes it difficult to fit into smaller sizes. Depending on the cut of some clothes, I may fit into a 14 pants, but mostly a 16 I may need to lose another 30 lbs to fit into a 12 because of my pannus.
  11. I have dyed my hair twice since surgery. I was not given any advice like this at all.
  12. Its all about personal preference, but I disagree. There is not a single solitary soul at my place of employment that doesn't know I had surgery and I work in a HQ office for a large insurance/roadside assistance company. Everyone is overwhelmingly supportive and they encourage me everyday. If they are watching me like a hawk or talking about me behind my back, I'm sure it pales in comparision to what they were saying about me when I was waddling in the office, breathless everyday.
  13. Personally, I say just be honest. There comes a point where everyone is going to make their assumptions and then give you a lot of "side eye". I realize its personal and you may not want to share, but people are naturally curious and if you want to be with them, then they deserve your honesty. No judgment, btw. I totally understand.
  14. I'm 93lbs down, 9 months out tomorrow. Currently in Wonderful Onederland My surgeon would be happy with another 11-20lbs, but I have loftier goals. I for sure wanted to lose 100lbs in the first year and I know that will happen. Still the best decision I have ever made.
  15. Wonderful Onederland!!!  My stall finally broke.  Saturday I was 199 and this morning I stepped on the scale habitually (I was going to wait a week to enjoy 199, hopefully  without seeing 200 creep back in there somehow) and I weighed 197.  Thanks for all the support and assistance getting me through what was one of the most emotionally painful stalls, EVER!!!!

Thanks guys! It feels great. Keeping my eye on the prize. My surgeon wants me to lose another 15, I want to be in a normal BMI range so that is 67lbs away. We'll see what feels right and I'm sure I'll settle in somewhere in between that.

    Pre Op diet

Stick with it. I felt the same way, but it turned around. You should be getting your energy from protein. Meat is just more protein.
  18. I'll be 9 months post op this week, 90lbs down.  I've been stalled at 200lbs since 07/01/2017, just waiting for the descent into Onderland.  Staying on plan and working out 5 days a week since mid-June and nothing...not an ounce.  Was looking over my fitbit data today and noticed that since the first my body fat percentage has dropped from 42.5 to 37.2%, so that's something!

I bounced around at 200,201,202 for what seemed like a long time, I can't remember how long it was now, maybe 2-3 weeks, maybe a week. Then I never hit 199, I was 198, lol.

  19. Just got back from a whirlwind STL to DC road trip and I am exhausted!  Back at the gym and back at work today!  No weight gained, but no loss either.  Stuck at 200 lbs.  Come on Onderland!!!

    Regrets, anyone?

I'm 8 months out. My only regret is not doing it sooner.

    Panic attacks after gastric sleeve

Hang in there! It can be an emotional time. Hormones are off the charts. I dreamed so hardcore about nachos after my surgery I thought I had eaten them (I've never really eaten nachos), I cried. My hubby had to prove to me that I hadn't eaten them, it was just so real. Then I laughed so hard about being upset about nachos I hadn't eaten, followed by hysterical tears about why I found it so funny. Good news is that it all evened out. I don't laugh or cry about nachos anymore...lol
