I had the same thing vomiting from the time I woke up from anesthesia to two full days post op. It gets better. I questioned myself and my decision also. I feel like it is the best decision I have ever made now! Good luck and congrats!

I too live in Las Vegas... I have just started with the required 3 month supervised diet, so I have a little ways to go before I have a surgery date set. Best of luck to everyone.

Surgery on 11/16, SW 351, CW 334. Still a bit tired and working on increasing my energy. Just moved to soft food this week, so far no issues. Some heartburn, but tolerable. Weight has stalled at 334 for the past 4 days. Surgeon said it was typical and most weight loss will come in month 2 and 3.

Congrats! My surgery was Nov 25th. I feel great, no pain anywhere. Almost like I didn't have surgery until I drink Water or a shake. I can finally sleep on my side and can take in most of my required fluids.

My surgery was on the 22nd. I'm exhausted. I spent yesterday in the hospital getting IV fluids because I clearly needed more than the 64oz recommended.
My drain is out and I can now lay on my side if I hold a pillow to my stomach. There's no real pain, just some muscle soreness.
    I am so swollen though.

I am day 3! Not too bad, had more muscle pain around the incisions and pain when swallowing my little sips. Haven't gotten much else in other than a few oz of Protein Shake and a jello! No desire to eat. Plus, lots of acid reflux. I feel like it is getting better each day.

I was sleeved on November 8th. I started full liquids on the 11th and will be moving to pureed on the 25. I can have low fat greek yogurt, any cream based Soup strained, chicken broth, vegetable broth, beef broth, watered down oatmeal, cream of wheat, Protein shakes, and any low calorie caffeine free carbonation free drink. I can't tolerate many of the Protein drinks... They are way too sweet. I have added the unflavored Protein powder to oatmeal and cream of wheat but it kind of tastes like baby formula. I have my postop appointment tomorrow, so hopefully my doctor will have some better ideas on how to get my protein in.

I want back to work Monday, I was out for exactly 3 weeks. two people stopped nd asked me what I was doing to lose weight, I probably saw 100 coworkers so that's not exactly a stamped.
I've had two joint replacements in the past 18 months and peopl got pretty used to fetching and carrying for me and I got to like it a bit too muck so I made a promise to myself that I would stop asking my secretary and office mates to do tasks for me and Monday walked 1.9 miles in six hours and Tuesday I walked 1.4 miles.

I was on this site a while back but I forgot my username. So here I am again! My name is Tiffany, I'm 31, I was sleeved 13 months ago. Best decision of my life! I started my journey at 258 lbs. I was sick, my dr told me to check out the program offered through my insurance. I was reluctant but once I started attending the weekly classes I knew the sleeve was gonna be for me. I am 13 months post op, I reached my goal weight at 8 months post op. Since then I've gone on to lose another 13 lbs. My current weight is 132. I couldn't be happier with my success. Here's a few pictures from the journey me at my biggest! 258 lbs
    Thru the process
the day I came home from vacation and realized I had lost 6 pounds and was under my goal weight! The first picture is from Hawaii vacation 2013.

Yes, it did happen to me. I got below my goal weight and my Surgeon and my PCP got worried. They thought I was losing muscle because I lost my weight so fast. That was strange for me because I have never in all my 60 years been told to stop losing weight. Then my nieces, hubby and my daughter all said that I needed to stop losing weight they were very concerned about me. Again NEVER in my life had anyone spoke those words to me. Then my Surgeon's Nurse came up to me and ask me if I had ever stopped losing weight. I then told her that I had actually gained 8#'s. Everyone that had said, I was to thin were beside themselves that I looked so much healthier after those 8#'s. I also felt better. What a difference to go from people ( Dr's and all) saying that I had lost to much weight. But...I was and still am so petrified to gain any weight at all. I have maintained my loss for 2 and 1/2 years. I guess I didn't handle what was being said to well because I still see that fat person. I am working hard on being nicer to Myself. When I look in the mirror I still don't see my body weighing 125#'s. I just hope I can eventually see her. It really feels strange when someone says YOU ARE SO SKINNY!! Or you don't look like you ever was overweight.

A "stall" a few weeks after surgery is not uncommon, and here's why.
Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs. of Water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when a patient is not getting in enough food, the body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. Then when 2 lbs. of glycogen is used a patient will also lose 8 lbs. of Water that was used to store it -- voila -- the "easy" 10 lbs. that most people lose in the first week of a diet.
However, when the body stays in a caloric deficit state the body starts to realize that this is not a short-term problem. Then the body starts mobilizing fat from adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But the body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy. So, it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. As it puts back the 2 lbs. of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs. of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though the patient might still be losing energy content to their body, the weight will not go down or it might even gain for a while as the retention of water dissolves the glycogen that is being reformed and stored.
