M@E reacted to Jemma1983 in It gets better!
Hi guys, I just wanted to post and reassure anyone who is coming up to their surgery date, or has had the surgery and is on day 1 or 2 post op, that it absolutely gets better with every day that passes. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on weds 2nd November 2016 and honestly I thought I had made such a huge mistake. I was nauseous constantly, my stomach and insides ached and felt like they'd been through a blender and I was exhausted beyond belief , but today (day 4 post op) I feel a million times better! Obviously I'm still recovering and i have a long way to go, but my goodness I feel so much more settled and I'm in no pain, the swelling around my main incision site is starting to go down, and I just feel so much better in my mind today. So I just wanted to reassure anyone who perhaps is feeling as scared as I was that I'd done something stupid to myself- it really does get better day by day. I left the hospital on Friday only able to tolerate 125ml of Protein shake/ complan every 4 hours to now where I can manage a small cup of milky tea in the morning, complan or Protein shake for Breakfast (125 ml), a ramekin of clear Soup and half a sugar free jelly for lunch, a mid afternoon snack of sugar free custard and then Soup again for dinner, and all day I sip sugar free squash. It doesn't sound very much but on day 2 I couldn't even manage a sip of Water or juice or anything at all and was kept on an IV in hospital, so it feels like I'm really turning the corner! The only thing that I hate is the taste if the drugs they give you when you leave the hospital! Why do they make oral dissolvable drugs taste Soooo bad!! Lol!
I hope everyone gets on well and I look forward to reading your posts to see how you're all doing and to get some hints and tips
Jem x

Okay guys, this is getting awesome. At my highest weight I wore a size 6x t-shirt. I love funny T-shirts and every year when my family and I go to Maine I stock up on funny t-shirts at the little stores in town. This year in August I saw a couple shirts I loved but they didn't come in my size. I decided to get them anyway thinking that I'll be losing weight and maybe I'll fit in them eventually.
Since I've been trying to do things I previously couldn't I decided to try one on just to see how close I was.
It fit. I mean a bit snug, but it could maybe be passable. I won't wear it out yet until it fits looser but before I would have never been able to get it over my head let alone be able to have it on and sit down without it rolling up
The size? 2x!! I wore a 6x and now I almost fit in a 2x!! I did cry this time guys and it felt really good
Highest weight 10/30/2015: 540
Surgery weight 5/27/16: 480
Current weight: 352
Also, I'm sooo close to losing 200 pounds in a little over a year!!!

I have been so morbidly obese for so long I got used to not being able to do much. I couldn't fit through certain openings or chairs, can't pick up things off the floor, can't fit in my seatbelt and have to use an extender, and when I sit in my car the wheel rubs against my stomach even if the seat is all the way back. These are things some of you may have experience with and some of you may not as I was on the high high end at 540 when I started.
I've been trying to get myself to try doing things but I'm so afraid I still won't be able to. It's really a daily mental struggle.
I haven't driven much since my sleeve surgery in May because I've had a lot of health craziness and I got in my car the other day and my extender wasn't clicked in so I tried to click my seatbelt without the extender and I fit! I was so excited!
It wasn't until then that I looked down at the wheel and almost happy cried. My stomach was a good 4-5 inches from the wheel and I could probably move the seat up when before I hardly fit in the seat when it was all the way back.
I know the picture is weird but I was excited!
Starting weight: 540
Surgery weight:480
Current weight: 360

M@E got a reaction from cklasun in Tomorrow and Thanksgiving
Hi I am in the UK but have an American mummy friend and we are doing a mummy and kids meal. I will be my 1st real test. I am 1 week post op tomorrow so will be 5 weeks by then so my plan is to make some kind of Soup for myself. Should be on soft diet by then so maybe able to have a taste of something mashed up. Plus they don't know about my surgery but think I've had a hernia repair, which I did have at the same time. Good luck with your op xxx
