    Hi everyone
I'm 10 months post op gastric sleeve. Had mine at KCM Poland. Best thing I've ever done in my life. Could not be anymore happier.
Anyways, it wasn't an easy journey and I know how it feels like to need support along the way so if there's anything I can help with/answer. Please, go ahead and ask me. :-)

Now that I've been reading a lot of other people's stories on here, I think he might be! He's very aware of current science, which I'm grateful for. My latest concern is the NIH study on heart issues and Calcium supplements, which he is also considering changing his stance on.
I feel great! To be totally honest, I feel kind of sluggish and "thick" when I have any more than 15% (30g for me) of Protein a day. I feel much better closer to 25g/day. But I'm trying to be compliant, so I'm doing 30-35.
I know that every body reacts differently--and you're right OutsideMatch, the RDAs just barely keep you from being sick and getting rickets, etc. Like for you, it seems like your body really thrives on higher protein. Mine feels much better with lots of fruit and complex carbs with lower fat and protein. My comfort in the RDA is at least it's the minimum, so I won't get sick. Granted--I am tracking carefully and will see how I do over time! I'm always open to adjusting when something doesn't work for me.

Nope, no typo. My surgeon changed protein requirements in the last couple of years from around 80g to 30g based on the latest research on harmful effects of excess protein. He's done something over 3,000 of these surgeries so I tend to believe him! Also, if you do the math, that's about 15 percent protein if I'm eating 800/cals day. Which is actually the RDA % for protein, so I feel fine about doing it this way.
If I were a tall male though, I might have more protein daily--the RDA is still 15% for guys, but of course you need more calories in a day (lucky!) so the number is higher.

    Can you all help,
10 months post op. Still reaching my goal weight. How much Protein should I be consuming each day? How many calories a day? and How many carbs? My pre-surgery weight was 245 lbs. I've lost 64 lbs. Lowest weight so far 181. Goal weight 145.

I keep mine under 25 a day as well and I don't feel it's restricted at all. I still eat tortillas (carb friendly 4 net carbs), nuts (almonds and pistachios), yogurt (dannon light and fit is only 8 carbs), cheese, strawberries (1/4 cup). I don't eat bread, Pasta, or rice and I never will again. Don't miss them at all anymore. I eat so much food that I don't feel deprived. I eat turkey bacon, avocados, eggs, Greek grilled chicken and tzatziki sauce, tuna patty (instead of bread crumbs add in Pork rinds and bake instead of fry), grilled mahi mahi and squash are some of my favorites. I drink Water everyday and don't miss soda or anything. I mix it up every day to keep things exciting. I do meal prep because I want to stay on my diet and be prepared. I find that when I don't have a plan or schedule that's when fast food or unhealthy options start looking good and I'm not going down that path again.

I've been following this same way of eating since I finished the food stages at 2 months post-op. I have upped the meat amounts from 2-3 oz over the course of those 5 months, and raised my calories from 900 to 1200-1300. I have always kept the carbs at 20 or below.
I cook a week's worth of chicken on Sundays and use that all week. I do the same thing with the green Beans. Everything else, I cook as I need it. It is routine now, and just how I live my life.
I have lost 193 pounds so far (99 pounds during my six month pre-op diet program, and an additional 94 pounds since my surgery on September 28, 2016). I am just a little over 20 pounds away from goal.

Sure. I eat the same thing every day.
Meal #1: 1 scrambled egg with 2 oz chicken breast
Meal #2: 4 oz of cottage cheese with 1 T sugar-free strawberry preserves
Meal #3: 3 oz chicken breast, 1 string cheese, 5 ParmCrisps
Meal #4: 3 oz salmon with 1 oz green Beans
Meal #5: 2 oz hamburger steak (90% lean) with 1 oz green beans
Meal #6: 3 oz chicken breast with 1 oz green beans
Meal #7: 2 oz chicken breast with 1 string cheese
Meal #8: 4 oz of cottage cheese with 1 T sugar-free strawberry preserves
I drink 32 oz of Water after Meal #1 and again after Meal #2. I drink 16 oz of water after Meal #3. I drink 16 oz of Powerade Zero after Meal #5, and 8 oz water mixed with 8 oz of PowerAde Zero after Meal #8. (I give the 30 minutes before and after meals as well.)
This comes out to 1200-1300 calories per day, 20 carbs per day, and 120-130 grams of Protein per day.

It has been the very best decision I have ever made in my life. First weeks were hard. Trying to get used to what was real hunger or head hunger and what was gas etc. Now I am very rarely hungry and it amazes me every day how little i crave anything or how little I eat. I am down to 178 and I have been at my longest stall of 3 weeks. I'm not worried I know it's normal. I feel like a different person. I run up and downstairs like I am 18 again. I literally feel little. I'm loving my sleeve!!! Good luck. You are in for a great transition.

Made more than my share of bad choices this month, but the surgery is a step on the journey. I used to say I'm a work in progress, and I still am. I think it's more important to worry about what you'll do tomorrow.

I decided to see my nutritionist again. Figured this all started with her, and checking in now and again can only help to make those course corrections.

Nancy doesn't give calorie goals but every now and then I total things up and I eat between 1000 and 1300 a day now at 5 months post-op. I hit the higher range on the days I work out with the personal trainer (2x a week). The biggest thing she stressed was no snacking in between the mini-meals which I do follow most of the time.

My Nutritionist is Nancy Lum and she is a Bariatric specialist that is part of my surgeon's BC/BS Bariatric Center of Excellence practice. I believe she does phone sessions. Her website is: http://www.nutrition5.com/ She may be able to work with you and your nutritionist to figure out why you are stalling.
My plan is 5 mini-meals a day - every 3 -4 hours with no eating in between. Meals include 3 - 4 oz Protein, a multigrain or fruit serving, and veggies (if there is room). Also I have 3 good fats daily - nuts, guacamole, olive oil.

    Hi October 16 sleevers!
I'm doing well. Really starting to enjoy life. Hiking! Lots of hiking, which makes me very happy to the core. My starting (high) weight in September was 239, and 219 on day of surgery- October 3, 2016.
I am down to 166 lbs (74 lbs gone) so far. From a size 20 pants, 2XL top to a size 10 pants and Medium top currently. My goal is 135 lbs, size 8 pants and size Small top. I believe I will reach my goal by late summer this year.
It is nice to now eat a variety of foods. Still very small portions, (3-4oz at a time) but at least the addition of vegetables, nuts and salads has been wonderful. And a few pieces of fruit now and then too! I'm still very wary of carbs and likely will not eat sugar again even after goal. I have come to discover over these past 5 months that refined sugar really, really, messed with me both physically and mentally, therefore I have pated ways with all things sugar for life.
I'm attaching a before and after pic. Before was just before surgery and after was last weekend hiking!

After having a pretty shit year last year, I'm so glad I did this

Have you heard the phrase "Like A Deer In The Headlights" that explains most of us Cavemen style Men. We know Valentines is coming but we put it off so at the last minute we run into our local Grocery after our buddies have reminded us at work that we BETTER take something home. I would throw them away I know it sounds wasteful but the feeling that you get from cutting the strings that tie you to chocolate will be Liberating. You could give them to friends but do you really want to add to someone else food Addiction. To All the Women Out There it is time to start asking for EXACTLY what you want from us here are the unofficial rules.
    1) 2 weeks before a Holiday write a list of things you would like as a gift (give us 3 options so we feel like we made the choice)
    2) One week tell us where we might find said items!!!
    3) The day before remind us what you want (Doing this while you're Naked Surely Helps Us remember)
    4) Day of Praise us for getting you Exactly what you wanted (This makes us think it was our own Idea)
