I am currently doing strictly Protein Shakes, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, Soups, sugar free pudding, unsweetened applesauce, and I've pureed veggies a few times. My doctor is very adamant that no weight is gained before surgery. My weight fluctuates so much, I thought I'd be losing barely eating anything basically starving myself and compared to others Im not losing like I thought I would. My surgeons pre op diet requires that I only eat meat, green veggies, eggs and cheese, but I chose not to bc I can gain weight like nothing. Im losing/maintaining my weight. He did inform me that a few pounds gained is ok as long as I didnt go overboard and gain 10-15lbs I will be ok. But of course I am still worried because Im about 2 pounds over my initial weight with him. I see him for pre op next tues 8/29 then surgery on friday 9/1. I pray everything is ok and I can have my surgery. I think I might just eliminate all solids from today on and drink my shakes and have broth until my surgery date.
Has any doctor ever figured out why you gain so easily? I'm very similar, and all I ever hear is "keep trying." It's so frustrating! I've been following the Keto diet for the last two months, and was finally able to start losing a little more steadily.

I listened to a guest speaker at a support group meeting who said that he bought some salt shakers, and filled them each with a different flavor of sugar free Jello powder. Then he just buys plain vanilla Protein Shakes, and sprinkles a little flavoring into it so he has lots of options. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like a great idea!

I'm nervous and excited too. I'm still trying to decide how open I am going to be about this surgery. I had the lapband before and failed miserably- and I was so glad I hadn't told many people. Hopefully this will be ,ore successful.
Theres a FB group for September sleevers, but there's also a group here, for those of us who don't spend much time on FB. https://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1273-september-2017-sleevers/

I've lost over 40 pounds so far, so I've definitely started to overcome my food addiction, which is huge for me. Since I am starting my pre op liquid diet Monday, I am going to treat myself a little this weekend.

I can feel my body craving junk food.< br /> All I have been eating is chicken breasts, egg whites, ground turkey and Protein Shakes.
I keep fantasizing about Taco Bell or McDonald's.

I read a book called Never Binge Again. It really helped me get past my food addiction issues.

My doctor said the average is 65%, but that for a revision (in my case, from lapband to sleeve,) it's more like 55%. He said in their practice, their patients tend to be above the averages though. He didn't give me a goal weight (yet.). After being over 300, I'd be thrilled to get down to 200.

Hmm, I guess it depends on a lot of things. But since you are meeting with a psych next week, it would be the perfect time to ask!

Happy birthday! I have the same goal- to be able to go on rides at the amusement park. Hopefully next summer, we will both have no problems fitting into that space!
have a great birthday!

I am meeting with the NUT on Tuesday to find out the details of the two week pre-op diet, and the post op diet. Then, that same day, I go meet with the anesthesia department for a pre op appointment. And then the countdown really begins!

My approval took three weeks. It wouldn't hurt to call and check on the status of your authorization.

I have surgery the same day, and would love to have people to touch base with.

Would anyone else be interested in joining a secret Facebook group for September 2017 Sleevers? I'm not as open in these forums since they're public archived but I would love to have some private support with others going through the same process. Let me know if one already exists, or if your interested I can create one.

So, no regrets then? My date is 9/12 and I'm already questioning the decision! I had my lapband removed a few years ago, and have been a yo-yo weight wise, so I know I need help. I'm just nervous after not being successful with my first WLS.

I had many problems with the lapband, but the most embarrassing one was "sliming." (Where I'd randomly belch up an enormous amount of slime.). Does this happen with the sleeve as well?

I have bcbs Fep. Mine was submitted at the beginning of July. It took over three weeks before my approval letter came.

Have any of you started a journal on here to document this journey? I was thinking about starting one, because I figure it will be a good reminder for after surgery when I am questioning whether I made the right decision or not.

That is suddenly very, very soooooon..
Are you starting to freak out a little? My surgery is five weeks from today, and I am already starting to feel cold feet! On the other hand, I'm also dreaming of all the things I'll be able to do differently this time next year. Heck, even six months from now!
At my job, we sometimes have casual days where everyone wears shirts from the local sports team. Everyone, except me, since I can never find any in my size. Yesterday I was at Walmart and saw the NFL sweatshirts and realized that I may very well be able to fit into one by the time winter comes!

I'm curious too about what people eat 8 weeks out. My surgery is scheduled for md September, which means thanksgiving with the one noses will be about 9 weeks later. I couldn't care less about not eating the traditional meal, but I dread the thought of dealing with all the comments about why I'm not eating like I have n the past. (I haven't decided how open I am going to be about the surgery.)
What are you looking forward to after losing weight?

I'm always a big sweaty mess. I hope that changes when I lose weight!
