For sleeve? In Boca, FL Dr Shillingford is 10,500. That's the lowest I have seen state side.
I am researching here in Orlando and it's 14,500

Any weight you've gained in the hospital is from your IV. They really pump you full of fluids. I made the mistake of stepping on the scale 3 days post-op and was bummed until the internet told me what it was. You WILL lose! And you're healing great with no issues! That's terrific. You will feel even better in just a few weeks.
I'm just over a month out and I feel like I have my life back. I had so much inflammation and arthritis in my body pre-op and that has completely vanished. I couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes at a time. I'd avoid social situations for fear of a lack of seating. I couldn't walk even shortest distances without wheezing and feeling like my legs would collapse. I felt guilty feeling like I had to make my friends accommodate me, and that was the worst.
I'm now walking great and further than I have in years. I don't have pain when I wake up and can even take the stairs without an issue. I feel great, and that's what I wanted most of all from this experience. The weight loss is a bonus.
    Good luck, everybody!

My PCP is doing all my follow-up. I have complication insurance and I was nervous about going to MX. However, Dr Illan sent me home with my surgery video, labs, chest xray and leak test video, so my Dr has everything and Dr Illan will share his case notes to the Dr.

$20,000 in Portland, Oregon. I am considering going to Dr. Illan. Everything I have read has been positive with no negatives.

Hi, I am from the NOVA area as well and just had my sleeve done with Dr. Illan through BariatricPal on Feb 8th.
I spoke with my PCP prior to surgery and she was fine with it and has no problem doing my follow-up care. I did confirm that she has worked with bariatric patients before and she let me know that she has several in her practice and is very comfortable doing the follow-up. She ran all of my bloodwork and gave me an EKG prior to surgery so she could determine if she thought I was fit for surgery, this is redundant as you will get bloodwork, EKG and chest xray prior to surgery but it helped me sleep better (and my mother sleep better) having an independent opinion.
My wife went with me to my surgery, there was no additional cost other than airfare and food for her which frankly wasn't much. Language was a non-issue, everyone at the hospital spoke fluent English and I clearly understood everyone. Bariatric Pal also has valets at both the hospital and hotel that were there to help with anything you need. They took my wife to get things to eat, ran errands for us, took us sightseeing and basically just provided moral support when you needed it.
My surgeon sent me home with all of my post op med, copy of my chest xray, blood test results, leak test, video of my surgery, etc.
I was very satisfied with my experience. If you want more info or have more questions PM me and I will send you my contact info if you would like.

I was told I wouldn't need it. But for peace of mind, I got it. There are a couple companies out there, but this covered me once back in the states.

Sleeved 11-29-2016. Weighed 396 checking in to the hospital. Currently at 301, loss of 95 lb. I've dropped 15 inches in my waist and shirt size has gone from 6x to 2x. Best decision I ever made[emoji3]

Been away for too long! Everything is going great, hit some milestones. One I hit today - I'm down over 66 lbs in two and a half months. When I did Weight Watchers about 9 years ago, it took me about 9 or 10 months to lose the same amount - and then I put it all back on and then some No chance of that happening now though!
Also some non-scale victories. The big one - I can wear my wedding ring again! I had to stop wearing it for a long time, it just got too tight! Started wearing it again a few days ago, feels good.
Also cool - i have about 8 suits I rotate through for work. Before surgery, I was down to three I could wear, the rest were too small. And the three were getting a little tight too. Now, I wear all of them. The original three are way too big and I had to get them tailored. The other five are starting to get loose, going to need tailoring soon. That's a welcome expense, especially with what I'm saving on food.
Tonight I saw a recipe on Facebook I had to try, and I made a GRILLED cheese SANDWICH with cauliflower toast for bread, and turkey bacon. The toast wasn't as crunchy as I would have like, but not bad at all! I could actually only eat half, saving the rest for tomorrow. I'm attaching a pic for your enjoyment. Hope everyone is well!

I understand the morbidity of the other posters, a guy who was sleeved the same day as me (Feb 7) died 10 days post-op..likely because he didn't follow the guidelines.

His wife posted (privately on another fb group) that he took Alka seltzer. Threw up blood and died shortly after. He didn't have a lot of time after his error for the Dr to fix it.

So, to me, following plan is very important. Also, if you "cheat" now, what stops you in the future? What happens if you crave chocolate or cake? Will you give in? I know we aren't 100% perfect, but try your hardest.

I didn't think it would happen to me...but yup. Fri, I jumped up 2 lbs, presumably due to my period...but it was just some spotting. Now 6 days later, the 2lbs gain is gone.....but I hope the weight loss kicks in strong after this!

I was sleeping solid. Yesterday I wanted to sleep all day, I was so tired. But I got up for work. Today, my eyes popped open at 4am. I have some cramping from my cycle which is messed up too. But normally I can roll over and go back to sleep. Not today, I was spry with lots of energy. So I went to work early. I know I am going to crash when I get home later. I am sure it has to do with the hormones

Ok...this has never been a problem, but sleeping a solid 8 hours isn't happening anymore since surgery. Today, I was wide awake at 4am Also, my cycle can't make up its mind if it's coming or going. Please tell me this is normal and will resolve itself over time.

I wasn't even trying to scare her. I was just trying to explain why we can't trust our bodies in the early post-op stages.

Leaks can occur because of back pressure on the stapled edge as the stomach tries to push food through to the small intestine. liquids don't need as much force to exit the stomach, that's why we're instructed to start with liquids. Furthermore, because the stomach is undergoing 'wound healing', pain signals may be masked.. hence the reason why we may not feel any adverse effects initially.

The addendum was merely an axiom by someone I respect a lot, who likes to chip in that added warning to his post-op instructions.

I apologize if anything was misconstrued. Still, post op instructions are always more 'compulsory' than they are 'optional'
