Baked ricatta is divine ..... rich, flavorful, like pizza without the crust. Baked ricatta [emoji39].

During your stay in the hospital they pump your body full of fluids. So generally by the time you leave you are a few pounds heavier than when you entered. You will lose this weight during the first few weeks after surgery. So I wouldn't expect too much overall weight loss by week 2.

I need to be mindful about being honest in my responses --- as passive/aggressive behavior is one of the things that got me in this situation. I stopped at the library after work this afternoon to work on a paper that is due for a class I am taking. (working on my masters) An extremely attractive women in maybe her late 40's asked me if I would like to get a cup of coffee. I graciously declined and she handed me her number. Said she her company just transferred her to Dallas and she is way past the bar scene. Again, I declined (married for 17 years) but wow!!!! it did feel awesome to be noticed again.

Pam924 reacted to Babbs in How many lbs did you lose your first month?
I'm going to a say what I ALWAYS say in these threads when a pre op asks the ol' "How much weight did you lose in XX amount of time?":
The answers will vary wildly depending on age, gender, starting weight, activity levels, medications, underlying illnesses, whether you're a revision etc.
The older you are, the slower the losses.
The less you have to lose, the slower your losses.
Men lose much faster than women (and we hate them for it).
Revisions lose slower as a rule.
Obviously someone who is limited with activitiy may lose slower.
That being said, once you're post op, try not to get into the trap of comparison. It is a waste of good energy that can be used elsewhere and is counter productive to your goals. People have a tendency to have VERY unrealistic weight loss expectations with these surgeries for some reason.
My answer? 17 pounds the first month.

Sorry this is happening ... we have an adult daughter who lives at home, and she can't move out -- she just doesn't have the resources so the poor child is stuck with us. Sounds like you have things that keep you there, so it might be helpful for you to find means of support outside the house -- not sure where you are in Illinois, but North Shore has excellent support groups twice a month (https://www.northshore.org/apps/calendar/results.aspx?Keywords=bariatric) that address the needs and concerns of people both pre and post surgery. There are also really good weight-loss psychologists in Illinois who could help provide tools to cope with family members and others who are not supportive. The only change we can control is in ourselves, but as in all things -- we need to know how to make the changes. I hope you have the opportunity to get some assistance.

Pam924 reacted to LittleBill in Bachelorhood
This morning, Mrs. LittleBill up and left me. You might say I drove her to it - literally. She is traveling out to visit our middle daughter and her family to help watch the little monsters while our son-in-law is out of town on a trip. She is also taking a car out to them that they are acquiring from my parents. So, I drove her to pick it up at Mom and Dad's house early this morning.
She plans to come back though, so I am not a permanent bachelor. But for the next little while, I will be eating my high Protein, low carb meal selections off paper plates using plastic forks and spoons, and quaffing my liquids from a paper cup. Because hey, that's what bachelors do, right? I know there are other things bachelors do, but I have already been warned not to do them. So I will content myself with paper products and not putting the seat down on the toilet. It's a wild life around here, let me tell you.

For a different meal choice, try extra lean ground turkey with a pack of taco mix and extra Water to make it thinner ... be sure to really break the turkey up while you are cooking it so it is very fine ... then enjoy with some melted cheddar on top. But do eat it slowly! about an ounce over 1/2 an hour should make it OK. Good luck.

    Pam924 reacted to WLSResources/ClothingExch in Something I don't understand
@@j2m1h, to say that surgery takes weight off is a terrible misconception that, alas, some people nurture because they believe in the Easter bunny, fairies and other forms of magic. (Notice I omit Santa Claus because we're still too close to his day in the sun.) Surgery doesn't lose weight; people do. Those who have surgery do the same things after that they did before: Eat differently and, one hopes, exercise. Surgery is an aid to losing weight. The reality is that it is possible to regain at any time, hence, proof that there's no magic. Maintaining weight loss is a lifetime endeavor. With mindfulness and continuing good habits, it's done.
